I've recently figured out how to play the best Dinosaur Jr. song ever on bass. It's "Thumb" btw and I'm listening to it now. So awesome.

Interstate 07-26-2006 05:04 PM

Nirvana - In Utero - This record seriously annoys me now.
Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced?
True! Tropicalia is one my favorite music movements ever.
Brazil is an absolute musical goldmine.

Listening to some Frank Sinatra right now.

NineBitFable 07-26-2006 06:01 PM

Don Cabellero- What Burns Never Returns

I have to be in the right mood to really enjoy postrock, and what do you know I am right now.

Robert Crumb 07-26-2006 06:11 PM
Another famous Brazilian.
I'll cut you.
he had a brazilian hits.
And he worked with Antonio Carlos Jobim, among others.

Tangy zizzle 07-26-2006 07:13 PM

Wankers.

Dimmer - There My Dear

It's a really good album. It's annoying me a little after only 3 spins, but I think I'll fall in love with it soon. A lot more guitar used this time.

mr_jackalope 07-26-2006 07:50 PM
Amazing label. I own a decent portion of their releases, so if you'd like anything in particular - I can probably supply it. The retrospective box set (Until Human Voices Wake Us and We Drown) is one of my favorite musical objects I own.
I wish I could afford something like it, the rip I have of it is really breathtaking. Supersilent is definitely my favorite artist on the label, but I've also immensely enjoyed Alog, Phonophani, Susanna and the Magical Orchestra, Fartein Valen...well basically everything I've heard. My next mission is to hear some MoHa.

On a completely different note, Bonnie "Prince" Billy's new album, The Letting Go, is freaking gorgeous. I love that man.

Daniel! 07-26-2006 07:51 PM

Bomb the Music Industry! - Album Minus Band

This is a little bit overwhelming at times, but still good.

I am digging Caetano Veloso too.

Robert Crumb 07-27-2006 02:56 AM

"Bebop Kid" is my favorite Suicide song. Suicide is fun.
I am digging Caetano Veloso too.
Nice. Which album?

br3ad_man 07-27-2006 03:58 AM

I saw M. Ward's Transistor Radio for $10 when I was out shopping with some friends before. I feel silly that I didn't buy it, so I'm going to make a trip down there later tonight and pick it up.

digging their self titled recently, hard to get into, but awesome rocking album

talk show host 07-27-2006 01:05 PM

Calexico - Garden Ruin

I'm a bit disappointed by this to be honest. Maybe i'm just not in the right mood to be listening to Calexico but i'm finding it quite dull at the moment.

Glitterati 07-27-2006 02:51 PM

DMD, I agree with you about the sound on that Buzzcocks album. It's really crisp.

Digging Calexico - Convict Pool for the 435th time today.

YDload 07-27-2006 03:21 PM

Enduring infatuation with Pink Flag. This time it's "Ex-Lion Tamer" as the song of the moment.
Enduring infatuation with Pink Flag. This time it's "Ex-Lion Tamer" as the song of the moment.
That song is probably my favorite off the album. Either that of Mannequin.

Currently digging:

Can - Tago Mago
Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother

Nick Cave - The Boatman's Call
The '67 s/t. I'm downloading the next two right now.
Check out Transa too, if you come across it. My favorite album of his that I've heard so far.

Listened to these so far today:

Swell Maps - A Trip to Marineville
Caetano Veloso - Caetano Veloso [Tropicalia]
Scott Walker - Climate of the Hunter

Marineville should get as much love as Jane from Occupied Europe does, but it doesn't seem like it does around here. I could listen to "Full Moon in My Pocket" -> "Blam!!" -> "Full Moon (Reprise)" forever.

ATM 07-27-2006 06:56 PM

My dad got him and I tickets for Zappas Playing Zappa so I am diggin on some Hot Rats at the moment! :-D :-D

YDload 07-27-2006 07:30 PM

"The Holiday Song" is a fantastic Pixies cut that should have been on one of their more popular albums. People might be missing out on it :(

Zmev 07-27-2006 07:32 PM

Grandaddy - The Sophtware Slump

They were pretty good.

I only have Return of The Durutti Column but it's very good. Looks like I'll have to check out Vini Reilly.

Right now I'm diggin this Frank Black bootleg I found on soulseek. It's a solo performance of some Pixies songs. Just FB and his guitar. It's nice.

mr_jackalope 07-27-2006 09:11 PM

I thought Return of Durutti Column was decent, but it got really boring in places. Maybe I'll check this one out...
