GorgeousGabe 09-23-2009 11:15 PM

nothin up, I've had the best and worst summer of my life and now that it's coming to an end, I dunno, I'm not a kid anymore and I gotta start figuring out how to live my life.

I'm really bad at, like.. you know. generally just being responsible for myself

kids with rich white families never learn how to do that ****, and most of them never have to because they just end up being rich adults who can pay other people to do everything for them.

but that's not me, so I actually have to figure out how to make money with my music, or if not that, who knows..

it's cool though. I feel OK

motogrifo 09-24-2009 12:37 AM

you should take the money, then use it to pay for the lifestyle of your choice, I assume the only condition for you to get access to said money is getting a decent education, and that's actually not that bad

GorgeousGabe 09-24-2009 12:55 AM

No, it's not at all, and that's totally what I'm doing. But it's not THAT MUCH money. I mean it is, considering I live pretty cheap. But at the same time, it isn't.

Money isn't my concern right now, and it won't be a concern of mine until I either have much bigger plans, or want to start a family, or want to go to college full time. I work part time jobs here and there if I need anything, but money's not an issue, so I can spend most of my time playing guitar, playing with my band or writing, so I end up being productive in my own way.

I just gotta keep doing better and better at those things

Sad But True 09-24-2009 09:27 AM

Ugh, ok, so I spent most of last night and this afternoon writing/drum-izing this. Czech and crit it out plz lod.

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=572119&songID=8136675

There's only drums up to about 1:10 but there's more unfinished stuff after it.

Also how the hell do I get it to put that up as a clickable link.

put [ url ] [ /url ] around it.

pretty cool, its like heavy metal but not quite as heavy cos its not just constant chugga chugga double kick, and it has chords.

also, i think the kick sounds a bit sampled, probably cos its kinda loud. i'd try to smooth it out a bit by killing off a tiny bit of high end then turning it down a little bit.

gutiars are a bit thin and pod sounding, but the bass does help fill them out alot. i really dig what the guitars are doing after 1:10, too bad theres no drums yet, haha.

ok lod, i'd best start reading for my international commercial law test tomorrow.

Thanks max, I can always count on a good crit from ye.

I was going for the heavy-but-not-quite vibe because I suck at just doing out and out heavy stuff, I thought I'd combine it with what I do well.

I had thought the kick was a bit too loud (and it's slightly different from my normal kick because for the life of me I can't get the snare in my other mix to sound as good as this one), I'll knock it down.

Yeah POD guitars :( I'm getting there though. I've got them to have a really gainy sound without sounding mushy, but now they're too thin haha. There's no post-mix on them yet though, so we'll see how that goes.

The bit after 1:10 is just going to be the lol-heavy bit that pops it's head up every now and then.

EDIT: Hang on did you listen like a half hour ago? That may have been the old version. I've updated it with a slightly less gay (but still loud) kick and re-done the levels)

Murphy's Law: Anything and everything that can go wrong will go wrong, usually at the most inopportune of times.

I.E. I have a program due tomorrow, I have pretty much been bed/couch ridden for two days due to the flu, and ****ing Vlab wont work. FYI Vlab = Virtual Lab a.k.a. access to computer programs on my schools computers that cost an arm and a leg for us to buy and the school doesn't have a license to distribute to them to us.

So I have to go there and hope the student worker for the day is there at 7 a.m., and hopefully get this **** done before my class at 1:30. Which is possible, not highly probably, and definitely not fun in any way fathomable.

fingers mccoy 09-25-2009 03:22 AM

i just totted up the amount of work i had to do in a single day towards the end of my last year and it comes up to just unde 16000 words and three compositions

that is so much worse than i thought it was at the time even tho i complained incessantly

especially because i'd been living off peach slices and kiwi for about 3 weeks prior

**** that that's not happening again

Crapdragoon 09-25-2009 03:33 AM

For some reason i've really been wanting an SG.

Blue_Moon 09-25-2009 04:21 AM

Crapdragoon 09-25-2009 04:29 AM

deal

Left Face Down 09-25-2009 08:37 AM

This has just been a Murphy's Law night... and it hasn't involved sleep. I'm afraid to go to sleep, because I figure I wont wake up because of Murphy. Argh, professor finally sent me my sn/pwd and now I can't seem to connect to the ****ing server. Yeah, my program isn't 100% complete and working... but it deserves at least a 50, and when that 50 = 5 points of my final grade I'll ****ing take it over 0 points because some ****ing server decided to crap it's pants.

Bad enough I have to copy the ****er over if the server decides to wake up.

sup lod, just took my international commercial law test, wasnt that bad. stayed up until 4am studying and then i missed my cost accounting class this morning.

also, this weekend i get to study for my cost accounting test on monday, go me

Left Face Down 09-25-2009 02:31 PM

bah, it is much more time efficient to skip your cost accounting class to study for your cost accounting test than to skip your cost accounting class because you stayed up all night studying. You should have skipped your last international commercial law class to study for that test, and gotten 8 hours of sleep last night.

P.S. - I can study my *** off, have nothing to do the night prior to a test, and I'll still lay in bed with insomnia until I get like 3 hours of sleep. =(

Giga 09-25-2009 02:37 PM

i didn't think i'd be up that late studying. also, i only missed class because i slept through my alarm (that doesnt happen much)

also, what we went over in class during cost today apparently isnt going to be on the test monday, according to my roommate

We should do like an Mx reunion jam or something.....

Left Face Down 09-25-2009 11:16 PM

I'm digging the irony of the lyrics here... yeah, it's not too great or too grand but bonus points for those who can tell me who Stefani Germanotta is before they watch the video ( not cheating! ):

im going to Budapest tomorrow :)

Left Face Down 09-26-2009 12:54 PM

I'd rather go to L.A. and dance in the fires. I really want to go to L.A., maybe when I become a rich engineer in the future I'll move to L.A. Though the problem with that, is every time I hear about them putting out a fire threatening L.A. two more pop the **** up.

Blue_Moon 09-26-2009 12:59 PM

no way id live in l.a i was there for almost a week and that was enough!

Left Face Down 09-26-2009 01:11 PM

To each his own, I've been to New York City and it wasn't all that great or grand. Not to mention I love driving too much to move to New York City. I was there for like 5 days, and it literally took us 2 hours to drive 10 blocks one night. Now, I know it isn't very much fun to walk 10 blocks but it would have been a lot faster.

All this and for some reason every one wants to move to New York City. Though I blame Sex and the City for most of the girls wanting to go.

Blue_Moon 09-26-2009 01:24 PM

i liked NY but id probably go insane living there i bet the novelty would wear off fast enough

GorgeousGabe 09-26-2009 01:25 PM

I've never been to LA and I'd love to go some time

and NYers walk everywhere... 10 blocks is nothing, suck it up, be a man

Crapdragoon 09-26-2009 01:27 PM

la sucks.
