TakeWarning 04-30-2006 10:48 PM

I wish I had thought of stealing their stuff at their show.

Ah well, I stole some money from the ticket sales box.

Rancid Ban 05-01-2006 04:22 AM

haha, that's awesome that it was actauly stolen!

And cheers Shangbang :-*

Weezerfan_returns 05-01-2006 08:14 AM

What'd you get banned for?

TakeWarning 05-01-2006 08:21 AM

He got hacked.

Rancid Ban 05-01-2006 11:26 AM

haha yeah, i just got unbanned and then banned again, perm this time.

Also, Take Aim is one of AM!'s best ever songs.

Henrik 05-02-2006 08:05 AM
He got hacked.
Sorry, but what does that mean?

TakeWarning 05-02-2006 08:19 AM
Sorry, but what does that mean?
Well, someone (I think it was Plexi) gained control of his account by stealing his ccokies and changed his avatar to something incredibly vulgar.

Weezerfan_returns 05-02-2006 08:29 AM

nick's black dick was the avatar of the day yesterday.

TakeWarning 05-03-2006 04:08 AM
nick's black dick was the avatar of the day yesterday.
Hahaha.

Actually, some in The Pit were even worse, and the hacker(whoever it may be <_<) had found a way to make the avatars abslolutely huge so they were much more noticable and shocking.

Against Me! are staying pretty busy. There is a Replacements tribute comp in which they will contribute a song, the song they will be playing is 'Bastards of Young'. Never heard the song, but it should be good. And they have a live album coming out August 22nd call 'Americans Abroad!!! Against Me!!! Live In London!!!.', which will definetly kick ***... I mean just look at all the exclamation points, it's gotta be good. Seriously though, is anyone else excited about this live album coming out?

SantaDuJuan 05-05-2006 05:06 PM

Until I get Vivida Vis 2, Against Me's dead.

Bastards of Young is a great song.

Only one band is allowed to use that many exclamation points.

And that band is !!!.

Fisticuff111 05-05-2006 05:30 PM

I downloaded it and listened to it a couple times. I've never been that big of a fan of the Replacements, but this is a great song. The thought of Against Me! doing it excites me... Sexually.

coheneran 05-05-2006 06:56 PM

This is an old question to an old subject, but I feel I need to ask.

How exactley did AM! sell out? They seem to admit it and point out aspects of why they sold out on SFAFC, but I have no idea HOW they sold out.

SantaDuJuan 05-05-2006 07:54 PM

Bands change the longer they're a band.

coheneran 05-05-2006 07:55 PM
Bands change the longer they're a band.
How did they change?

SantaDuJuan 05-05-2006 07:58 PM

Music sounds.
I mean their latest EP is nothing like Crime or really anything close to it.
IMHO
I think it's fine if a band wants to change their sound, but people arn't going to like it or them anymore for that matter.
It's life.

THAT'S IT? They got lots of shit because they started using a heavier sound?! When did punks get so demanding?

me likes punk 05-05-2006 08:26 PM

"Joy" and the last song of SFAFC are two of the greatest songs I've ever heard.

I loved it all really. Apart from Cliche Guevara. But especially From Her Lips To God's Ears, that song is ace.

I don't think it's a punk thing, it's a people thing.
People don't like for the things they love to change.
It changes the good and the bad.
For some people it works, for others it doesn't.
I'm one of the doesn't.

Against Me! are a great band but they've lost their spark for me.

1) Leaving Plan-it-X for Fat Wreck
2) Demanding PIX stop selling Crime
3) Shutting down their forums at the first sign of criticism
SFAFC gets **** because if you listen to the lyrics, 90% of the time Tom is bitching about their fans calling them sellouts, which by that time wasn't very many people.
Then signing to Sire put the final nail in the coffin for the punk elitists to cry sellout.

I think they're assholes for what they did to PIX and the forums things, but SFAFC is still a good record and I enjoy it, especially Holy ****, which I think is one of their best songs.

me likes punk 05-05-2006 10:30 PM

I really wish they were still with PIX, but as long as they keep putting out good music I shall listen.

Fisticuff111 05-05-2006 11:47 PM

I think their music has gotten worse, but it's still good. There are some great songs on SFAFC, and the music matters above all else IMO. Now, I admit that some of their decisions have been questionable, but I also think it's wrong to point fingers. I don't agree with everything they've done (like not letting PIX sell Crime), but I also don't feel I'm in the position to judge. As for the Sire signing, I once read in an interview with Tom in which he said something to the effect of 'if I could sign a contract that would set my mom up for life and she wouldn't have to worry about money again, I'd sign it in a second', That's not a direct quote, I'm paraphrasing there. Now, to me that really hit close to home. I think if there is anything that 'justifys' 'selling out', that's it. Sometimes things are more important than Punk Rock. It's sad, but it's true. Sorry for the rant guys, but this is a pretty important subject to me.

Weezerfan_returns 05-06-2006 01:58 AM

The acoustic EP is my personal jesus.

Angry Balled Fists! 05-06-2006 04:36 AM

I love SFAFC, infact it has some of their best songs imo.

Ah that explains it, thanks.

What's wrong with Sire Records (I've never heard of them)?

I completely agree with this. And I also dislike SFAFC very much. Against Me!
s work up to Sink Florida Sink EP was all equally amazing and had that spark. When the demos were stolen and I heard their new work they really lost it for me.

TakeWarning 05-06-2006 09:17 AM

I think next year's album on Sire will be quite interesting.

AIRIC 05-06-2006 09:18 AM

It'll be bad.

TakeWarning 05-06-2006 09:20 AM

Probably.

Let's hope not.

They're a major label, owned by one of the Big Four, Warner Music Group.

feldwebel 05-06-2006 04:10 PM

As long as the ticket prices stay low and they don't whore around very much i don't give a flying fuc,k

if cds get too expesnive, well then lets steal them :chug:

if they are in teen magazines, well then lets just don't buy them

what message got lost when they signed to sire?
maybe a few anarchy patches will dissappear from fan jackets.
come on thats so lame

Moon Flavor 05-06-2006 04:19 PM

I "acquired" Reinventing Axl Rose a couple months ago and loved it. Having not heard anything else by them, I saw SFAFC in the used bin and today picked it up. Wow....maybe it's just because it's a first listen, but this is nowhere near as good as the other stuff. I miss the older singing...that's the part I most liked about the band.

Not when they were Anarchists.
If they are now?

They're defiently not the next Chumba.

Brain Toad 05-06-2006 04:28 PM

I don't think they were ever really 'anarachists' to begin with, they were just DIY punks. Only song that ever mentioned anarchy was a satire.

Cliche Guevara is from As the Eternal Cowboy

SantaDuJuan 05-06-2006 04:33 PM

What about Burn?

I hate it when I don't quote people and then someone posts before me.

He has a point Nick.
