haha, You suck.

Phototropic 10-14-2006 04:00 AM

This is a review about a local band in my area, they're absoloutely amazing
Bomb The Sun – "EP"

It’s no secret that the band Kyuss have been hugely influential on a lot of current bands, although very few have managed to capture “that” expansive desert rock sound to a high level of competence. Step forward, Bomb The Sun. The six colossal tracks here are spread over a whopping 45 minutes, highlight for me being “Not Waving, But Drowning” which sounds like it could have come straight from the groundbreaking “Sky Valley” album but there’s not a bad song on this disc and fans of the aforementioned should be dropping everything and getting themselves a copy of this immediately.
You guys should get into them, they play some of the most chilled out music I've ever heard, very long songs :D

Yeah, you mentioned them before in here, and uploaded their EP. It's a great piece of music. :chug:

Txus 10-14-2006 07:48 AM

Do you mind sending me the EP? I would deeply appreciate it. Sounds like my thing :)

Anyone already heard Ahab - Call Of The Wretched Sea?
German funeral doom, I haven't ordered it yet, but I heard good things about it.

Eliminator 10-14-2006 02:54 PM

Okay, so I'm listening to some Candlemass.

I was expecting the vocals to be better.

Daven 10-14-2006 03:05 PM

What Candlemass did you hear?

Eliminator 10-14-2006 03:06 PM

Some of the stuff off of Epicus Doomicus Metallicus.

Daven 10-14-2006 03:08 PM

Damn, i love that album's vocals.

Eliminator 10-14-2006 03:09 PM

The clean vocal type stuff doesn't seem to fit for me.

Neowens 10-14-2006 04:06 PM

I've only just got into stoner and doom thanks to some friends. As soon as i heard bongzilla, i thought "where have you been all my life?". It can get a bit repetitive though, but if you feel like some downtuned feedback ridden riffs, i suggest some SLEEP, especially Dragonaut. I bum:

sleep
high on fire
clutch
weedeater
kyuss
****emos
bongzilla
abeueda
the melvins
pothead
electric wizard and of course sabbath.

You should check out band called OM, they have a tune called "at giza" you need to here it. Its tibetan sleep.
Spirit Caravan
They are bloody awesome.

Welcome to the family

Stoner is so earth-like (thanks to the low tuning) I havent heard OM yet but I really want to check them out

Great list ya put there, don't see many people mention the melvins these days, they aint really stoner, freak-rock :smoke:

Neowens 10-14-2006 06:27 PM

now thanks to this forum, i've just downloaded epicus doomicus metallicus, its groovy.

If you don't like the more operatic vocals you could try Saint Vitus. They have more of a crooning thing going on, for lack of a better word. Kind of like Danzig without the Elvis-isms, maybe. The music tends to be slower and more depressing, instead of Epic like Candlemass is.

Eliminator 10-14-2006 10:14 PM

I'll give Candlemass another chance later.

However if they fail my patented Eliminatronex Band Test v2.0 THEY'RE OUTTA HEEEYYUHHH.

AlienEater 10-15-2006 05:07 AM

Listen to some St Vitus.

CabbageStabbage 10-16-2006 10:38 PM

So, Thergothon. They're pretty cool. I heard Stream from the Heavens today (daily upload w00t)

I like how their keyboard tone in Stream from the Heavens sounds just like Mr. Crowley. I also like the fact that I timed one of their songs, and it was something in the region of 45 BPM.

Any similar bands?

Poofy 666 10-16-2006 10:40 PM

Shape of Despair
Evoken
Skepticism
Abandon
Ataraxie
I love Om, especially the song On the Mountain at Dawn off the album Variations on a Theme
Been meaning to check those guys out for a while

The bolded specifically, the underlined secondly, and the italicized two lastly.

Poofy 666 10-16-2006 10:49 PM

I found Shape of Despair at my local CD store the other day

Do it.

Anyone here like Sloth? The Voice of God is a good album, and they've been added to the Reverend Bizarre show at the Underworld at the end of the month. :chug:

AlienEater 10-17-2006 11:33 AM

Anyone kno when the new Melvins is out?

So yeah, Swallow The Sun is now one of my favorite bands ever.

For sure.

AlienEater 10-18-2006 10:45 AM

I like them all the time.

Apocalyptic Raids 10-18-2006 12:18 PM

Doooooooom As ****

Nepenthe 10-18-2006 05:20 PM

I avoided The Sword for quite a while because I just assumed they'd be watered down Doom Metal after noticing all the media attention they've been getting, but they're actually really good.

Bartender 10-18-2006 05:33 PM

Yeah, it's alright. One of the few albums I've downloaded recently actually (recently being the last couple of years). I liked it quite a bit at first, but found it swiftly became less interesting to listen to. Don't think I ever made it through a second full time.
