Thanks for the help what size would you reccomend for the crash? I was thinking 16 inches...Also I hate to sound like a brand whore but is there anything like the K Custom Fast Crash in the Sabian line? Or vice versa with anything in the Zildjian line like the AA ride? Also I forgot to mention I play mostly Classic Rock/Punk rockish stuff with a little bit of jazz thrown in there. Do you think these cymbals will suit the genres I tend to play?
Is there such thing as a "trashy" ride? Maybe try small copper plates around the edges? You could always look for a Sabian O-Zone ride (if they exist).
if i hear correctly, the Hand Hammered Jazz Ride has a bit of trash to it....not much, but a tid bit |

You could try the K Custom Dry Complex rides, they are supposed to be a bit trashy |
Good call.

20" A Medium Ride for Zildjian ... I'm not sure if there's a crash like that for Sabian. Does it really matter? A cymbal is a cymbal, and if it sounds good play it. |
you could use a Hand Hammered Thin Crash
|
JoJo Mayer has a sig. "Fierce Ride" thats supposed to be slightl trashy... like his sig. crashes.
|
yeah, forgot about that one...that thing roars.
|
awesome thanks guys
|
What would you guys concider the strongest cymbals out there?
|
strongest as in?.....
|
durable, i'm a hard hitter :P
|
if your breaking anything over a medium weight, you should seek help from a teacher.
|
i am going to talk with my teacher bout this, however i still want to know :P
|
it really subjective
Paiste RUDE, Zildjia Z Custom, and AA Metal-X would be designed for the heavy hitters, but dont exactly sound pleasant for the ears |
Look for Rock weights, they are usally medium-heavy and still sound good, unlike Z Custom "manhole lids".
|
I personally find Mediums plenty heavy, you don't need anything heavier.
|
I personally find Mediums plenty heavy, you don't need anything heavier.
sure dont.....leave the heavyness to the rides. |
What would you guys concider the strongest cymbals out there?
Pretty much the heaviest ones will be the strongest, assuming they are made well. |
sure dont.....leave the heavyness to the rides.
unless you use rides as crashes... |
i do crash on my ride sometimes but not really hard.
i'm gonna buy a new crash, an 18". Which one would you guys recommend (i'm a pop/rock/alt rock drummer and already have 16" paiste 802 crash and i am a hard-hitter): Zildjian K dark, Sabian AA or a Ufip Class Series. |
Sabian AA Medium Crashes are really nice.
|
yeah man, i can vouch for those.
|
And I can agree with them as well. 18" Medium all the way!
|
gonna get one of those too
a perfect match to my 16" |
a small splash smaller then 12" but not 12" and also made by zildjian z custom. the sound im looking for is sharp and snappy but im not quite shore what size

There is only one Z Custom splash (12"), and it's awful. |

|
Okay, I have a quick question about a cymbal and I didn't want to start a new thread so... I'm thinking about getting a paiste 2002(formely dimensions) cool ride. The only thing i'm worried about is it might not be loud or cutting enough, any help would be greatly appreciated.
AA Rock Ride
Thought so, it looks like I found my ride. Thanks. |
hi guys!! I' m going buy a splash soon, i know I should try them all but I know nothing about them.......help appreciated :D
|
With all of Paiste's cymbal restructuring, do they still offer the original 2002 cymbals? Are those the classic line or something?
|
yep, the original 2002's are the basic named ones
Crash, Power Crash, Hats, Sound Edge etc... |

Apparently the 10" AAX (stage?) splash is the best out there. Not sure on prices... Another really nice splash(/crash) is the 13" AAX Splash (can't remember full name) A custom Splashes are also very nice and musical (8" and 10" being the best). It all depends on what style of music you play really. I would, however, stay away from the 12" Z custom splash. Too gongy. Stay away from most Z customs actually. |
cant go wrong with a good ol AA Splash really....
|
so im looking for another crash to add, i have 16"/18" zildjian avedis medium crashes, and a wuhan 10" splash with sbian aax 13" hats... im looking for another crash to add, something brighter than my avedis', but not so bright it sticks out like a sore thumb... any ideas? im not sure what size to go with, or brand...
