When Paul d'amour was replaced?
|
Tremelo Pinch harmonics are easy if you practice. i can do it no problem now. just like tremelo picking took practice, and pinch harmonics took practice, each comes easily now. just practice combining the two and it's really actually easy.
|
I know this isn't the right place, but help a fellow tool fan out
what is tremelo picking and pinch harmonics? and how do you do it? thanks :) (I play keyboard, and just started playing bass) |
You don't need them for bass.
Tremelo picking is picking very fast. Pinch harmonics are artificial harmonics made by your picking hand as you play the note. |
Hey fastfingers, I I.M'd you but you don't seem to be on aim
|
Well I am.
|
I'm up to 10 Tapeworm songs.
|
Tool owns me.
Keep in mind that necropheliac means someone who has sex with dead people and that it is illegal. Do you really think the lead singer for a huge band would want to do that or could get away with it? I think not. Necrophelia exists mainly in the south where people can steal corpses go out in the woods and have an orgy.
Actually, you are incorrect in that people in the South do not steal corpses and take them into the woods for orgies. We prefer them bodies warm, right after the kickin' and screamin' has finished, not stiff and cold for one thing- FRESH over rotting and decay. As far as orgies go, we only need one slab of meat at a time, we just cut the head off so no teeth get in the way if they weren't knocked out completely to begin with- Lester likes the eye sockets anyhow...sometimes he just takes a hammer and makes a nice little hole in the back of the head so that the brains- oh no need to technical... We welcome you and your family to come down and stay for a little while. Be more than glad to show you what we REALLY feed our gators and hogs- nice stiff yankee meat beats tha' slop we buy in town any day- plus its FREE. |
So, changing subject... has anyone listened to The Hollow recently? It's been a while since I last listened to it, and when I did, I realized how new the song sounds. It really seems like it's a song that shouldn't be a around yet, the way its done is just kind of pioneering into a new kind of sound. Anyone agree?
|
I'm up to 10 Tapeworm songs.
Meh i'll catch you on aim sometime :( where did you find these songs? |
I lied. 9. One I counted before I listened to it. It was just someone reading the definition of "Tapeworm". Limewire is actually pretty good for it. I also have what is apparently APC covering a Tapeworm song but I can't find a Tapeworm version so I count that one as APC.

What kind of an ignorant dipshit are you? Oh yeah, in the north is where people get raped by every other person they see. |
how the hell can you have 10 tapeworm songs.....ITS A BLOODY MYTH!! they never recorded a song...the only one is the a perfect circle cover of vacant
|
^ I was thinking that...
|
There are probably a lot of tapeworm labelled songs aroind on P2P, but I doubt any of them are actual recordings. APC did cover the odd one, and since no one knows what they sound like (tapeworm songs) they cant tell if they're the real deal or not.
But if they do exist, I wouldnt mind a listen |
I was under the impression that they didn't really have any recordings except for a couple, but certainly not 10.
|
*NEW GUY* I have only heard the many versions of Vacant/Perfect Enemy/Passive that APC have done. I always thought that Tapeworm was a rumor anyway...
|
I remember going to NIN's site a little bit ago, and Trent was saying how they were hopeing for Tapeworm to work out and all, but it didn't. So I don't know about those recordings. But then again I wouldn't mind listening.

Don't know if you guys have seen this or not. Its rare to see Carey showboat, this is killer! |
I've been anticipating the new Tool for so long and its been so quiet that by now it doesn't even feel like they exist as a band anymore
|
Check out this great site!!!
you will love it!!!!! |
Hmmmm whatever happened to the great discussions we got going in this thread?
Seems like most posts are single-liners... i'd love to hear people's opinions backed up by facts, not just isolated statements...I know its quiet on the tool front, hence the need to discuss side projects, which i think is great....but surely we have some meaningful ideas on these topics too! I think APC are fulfilling Billy's dream of becoming more like a Cocteau Twins sound on this album, and songs like "Hollow" have their roots in that... Speaking of re-listens, i listened to 4 degrees again last night and it is still phenomenonal! When the drums n bass kick in, its really powerful, very much feels like the progression into the type of songs they wrote for aenima ... |
Well, the majority of the intellectual members of this thread have already posted. You can go back, look them over, and make comments about them.
When something new develops it will spur more conversation. |

I have had that drum part of lateralus stuck in my head for 2/3 days now...and i don't even play drums :confusedc: i started relistening to lateralus the song too. That video really opened up my eyes to the drums, in my head all i hear is maynard doing the 'spiral out, keep going' and the drums of carey...tis pretty cool.
Tapework would have been dam cool :upset: |
I would still like to have AJ's guitar parts singled out in most tool songs (mainly as it would make getting the rythym easier.)
Also, my CD player is defective and if the headphone jack is put at a certain angle, it cuts out certain frequencies. With tool, this means all I can hear is the drumming on every song, everything gets muted/turned down. It great to have to hear Dannys work on its own |
that video was just awesome, thanks for posting it :)
but i agree we should try getting some discussions going again...have no clue about what though... |
Hey MXers, just got into Tool after hearing my friends obsess about them for the past few months so I thought I'd check out some of their stuff.
I've got about 7 of their songs now including: Schism Stinkfist Lateralus I'm looking for some more recommendations if anyone would be willing to help me out I'd appreciate it. |

Tool are such an album band, I highly recommend getting all the albums, a dark room and listening to them in awe :)
Speaking of which - has anyone tried listening to the entire tool catalogue opiate-undertow-aenima-(perhaps salival)- lateralus back-to-back in one sitting?? it'd take 6 -7 hours, i wonder what it'd be like....certainly be trippy.. |
yeah i did that(-salival) it was the mean full day but i surpose it was worth it but i wouldnt do that again waste of a day really
|
but it wasnt like i just sat there i had to have my leg up so i was in bed and i went to sleep afew times so i dont no if it really counts..

My batteries died during H, so I never completed it. It was a weird thing though, listening to Undertow Maynard then Aenima Maynard straight after |
the other day i went out and bought all of tool's albums and the first APC album at the same time...it set me back about sixty dollars, but i thought it was well worth it. it is amazing to see the progressive change in tool as you listen through all thier songs.

Excluding Salival I assume. That's pretty hardcore man. I wish I had that kind of money. |
Ive listened to Opiate/Undertow/Aenim and Lateralus (not salival, gotta get it) through i tunes and it only goes for like 4 hours though its bloody brilliant, Huge change through the albums. ive done it countless times and i never get tired of it rather it sucks when all tracks have been played, i want more..
Recomend people do it, nice listening :thumb: |
