well I'm not really fan of this kind of progressive (I like the watchtower-ish technical/progressive metal) but here's what I've heard from people and read from reviews:

Conception - Parallel Minds
Vanden Plas - The God Thing
Fates Warning - The Spectre Within or Awkening the Guardian (from their less progressive era)

Can anyone recommend me some Corrosion Of Conformity? Preferably the kinda southern-rock/sabbathy era

Lateralus is hard to get into if you haven't hear any other Tool. AEnima is a good place to start.

For Mudvayne, I'd go with LD50.

I wouldn't say LD 50 was straight metal, it has a lot of filler and many slow/lighter passages in it.

Could somebody give me a shortened list of some Atmospheric type Doom Metal bands?? Something along the lines of Amorphis' album "The Karelian Isthmus"

Lateralus was my first Tool album too, and didn't affect my liking of them negatively, so yeah.

I'd say just get whichever is cheaper/more easily available, since what Med's said about the matching quality of the two is about right.
