You probably figured out how to do it right, took me a while to do so too, :D.

The worst ever was at one point I was screaming and my voice blew out, it was like... high-pitched screaming to like... quiet squeel and intense pain.
Is your scream high pitched then?

Britton 03-08-2006 03:56 PM

I've been writing lots of songs lately and of course I make lyrics and then sing them for everyone I know. so I was singing for my grandparents (keep in mind I don't have a good voice) and they were all impressed and offerd me singing lessons...so I'm not sure how much more screaming i'll be doing. I've always treated my voice as some sort of fill in until I can find a real singer...so I've done all the vocals.

But if I discover that it's just me singing wrong and my voice isn't that bad then I'll have to stop screaming
Is your scream high pitched then?
It used to be, I've learned to control my voice more over the past couple of years, Jesse Leach, Anders Fridén, and Dallas Taylor are like my heroes, so of course I realized how good it was to very things between high and low :D.

and Britton, when you're taking singing lessons, ask about screaming technique, if the instructor understands it, gg, if not, they'll say it's bad, then just torrent The Zen of Screaming.

Well it depends what type of band your in. Do your songs have more sreaming or singing in them? Make the choice.

No he won't, Roadrunner will touch it up in the studio.

They even do that with good vocals.

Huber 03-09-2006 09:22 AM

I still have no idea what all this "butchering" talk is about.

Maybe he loses his voice, but it doesn't sound bad live. It sounded almost perfect at my show.
You're right Trev, I do love you, you're so charming.
I knew you were queer.
No he won't, Roadrunner will touch it up in the studio.

I have learned in my experiences in the studios that there is a way to alter vocals, make them sound better than they really are, or just add a lot more deep range to it, etc, etc...so that would make sense.

So they did play it?

.:Thrasher:. 03-10-2006 12:18 AM

WTF is with Matt always making the crowd sing. ffs its so annoying

Have you heard the end of the roadrunner united cd you reckon they like fully changed his voice seen as he like cant sing?

Huber 03-10-2006 09:33 AM

It's so mind boggling to me how you guys all say Matt does these things so much, when at the show I went to he did nothing like you guys say. Did I get like, the one and only good Trivium show or something?

How long ago was it?

nowitzki 03-10-2006 10:26 AM

I saw them about a year ago before they'd really become popular, and even then he was missing out a lot of the clean vocals for the crowd to sing. Luckily it was a really small venue, so you could actually tell that a handful of people knew the words.

LOL. It's not the clean bits he doesn't sing. It's the first part of the pre-chorus on 'Pull harder'. Incidently it's the "....PULL........HARDER......STRINGS.......MARTYR" but.

nowitzki 03-10-2006 10:49 AM

He usually misses the clean chorus as well, like this: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3118445282166990915&q=trivium
He attempts the last one, but doesn't sing it like on the album.

It was on January 28th

I hope heafy rests his voice when they support Iron Maiden. I've heard him live and although he wasn't on top form I've heard worse vocalists live (chris cornell anyone) but it wasn't that horrifiic.

i'm going for maiden more than Trivium (obviously). looking at that video from the metal hammer awards, i'm thinking the crowd at maiden will be nothing like that (:)) as last time most of the maiden fans were fat bikers.
EDIT: he really can't do the clean-ish vocals in Pull Harder live.

He doesn't sing it, he grunts it horribly.

Oh well, I was more looking forward to Maiden (who the hell goes to a gig to see a support band primarily anyway) but at least triviums music is good :)

HAIL TRUE METAL 03-10-2006 04:40 PM

the only two songs i like from trivium are "gunshot to the head" and "pull harder on the strings". worst song from them is definately dying in your arms. it seems somewhat emo, i duno something similar to that. overall though i guess trivium is okay

I actually think Dying In Your Arms is one of their best.

Nah it's probaly my least favourite Trivium song but it's still good, just got abit old too quickly. As for the guy who started this, he sounds annoying and stupid. As obviously from the songs he stated he's only heard them on TV and hasn't heard any of their two albums. And Dying in my arms ins't nearly emo.
