Cone's solo kinda sounds like Matt Freeman's solo on Maxwell Murder IMO.
|
the bass of cone is in some songs very catchy, like in hhop and also aknf
wth solo, and whole song is good |
how can you say the bass is pointless. it makes the whole song sound more full.
Agreed. The bass is the backbone to any band or song. It makes it feel more than background music, it gives it a feeling that neither guitar or drums give. |
Does anyone else have the Killer Queen album yet? Sum 41's song is good, so is Constantine M's and Shinedowns, alot of the songs are crap, but I got it anyways
|
you're all misunderstanding what i'm saying. i didn't say bass is all root notes, and i didn't say bass is pointless. i said bass is pointless if the bassist is only playing root notes. basically, i'm saying playing nothing but root notes is pointless.
it's not pointless, it's stupid I'll give you that, but it's hardly pointless, sorry if we made you mad :D |
I've been downloading countless Sum 41 Live performance videos onto my comp and it's amazing did you guys know they did Walk This Way (Aerosmith cover) with Ja Rule, Nelly, and DJ Clue? I thought it was pretty cool, cause for once the rappers were on beat because they didn't write the song
also I listened to Chuck again today and I heard things in it that I've never heard before, I realized how much better these guys were at writing songs then I ever thought they were (even though I've thought they were amazing for a long time now) |
uuuuuuuggggggghhhhh
people READ THE ****ING POST i did not say bass is pointless! i am a bassist! read this- BASS IS NOT POINTLESS! jesus christ, it's not that complicated. what is pointless is when a bassist only plays the roots of what the guitar is playing. the same effect can be achieved by turning up the "bass" knob on the rhythm guitarist's amp. bass should venture out from what the guitarist is playing, or it adds nothing but a little extra low end. this is coming FROM A BASSIST. |

are you trying to cause problems? just go back a page and read it dammit |
Bass is not pointless. He should not get away with saying bass is pointless. Stop being on his side. Your user name even says your a bassist.
|

I think it was a tribute to Run DMC or something.

Only bassists..ha
Anyways, I'm a drummer, but the bass in Over My Head is kinda cool to me...I don't know, I'm not a bassist, so I don't know what's cool and all, but yeah, that's just what I think. Anyone know where I can get World War Seven? Great song... |
i dont think turning up the bass on the rythym guitar would make the song more whole. if that was the case then there would be alot of bands without a bassist.
|

you're really observant, congratulations, and in case you didn't know, I'm a peace keeper, I try and make everyone happy, someone says something incorrect, I correct them and move on, it keeps people from being mad all the time, he never said bass is pointless, just certain things bass does he doesn't think is cool |

they suck live...
|
I have their album "All Killer No Filler" it's alright...my favorite song would have to be were all to blam from "chuck" though.
|
they suck live...
Oh, man, they were killer live here. |
they suck live...
apparently you haven't seen them live in the past....since Chuck came out, so 10 months, I'll admit, that on the live in astoria dvd they did pretty bad, but live in tokyo dvd was awesome, so check it out |

friggin sweet, the only complaint I have about that song is that the video isn't as deep as the song, if the video actually represented the song in any way it would've impressed me so much more, I like the video they made...but you know how it goes |
Uhh, BFAB. Congrats your dumb. I was being sarcastic.

sum 41 seems to do that with their videos, where it can be a very serious song, but a not so serious video. example: hell song. |
I like that video
|

yeah, but at least they straightened up for Pieces and Some Say |
I like that video
I do too, but I don't like how it portrays the song |
This band is ok. They have a lot of diversity in their music.
My only complaint is Cone sucks. I don't care if it's Pop/Punk. Rancid has good bass. Green Day has Good bass. Offspring has Decent Bass. You can hardly hear Cone In Most songs. |

i don't think so. as much as i hate green day, i think dirnt is actually a pretty good bassist. and i don't think they show him off, it's just that when you have a really good bassist it shows. cone gets shoved to the background cause there's nothing impressive about his playing. bands like offspring and green day don't have to do that, their bassists have active roles in the music and are an important aspect. that's what i was talking about when i was talking about root notes and what not. when you've got a bassist that knows his ****, they're an important part of the music. if not, they don't matter so much.

agreed. You gotta love the bass in Why Dont You Get A Job :thumb: |
