Rushed? They are lazy man. Opiate came out in 92 and they have 4 albums. Opeths morningrise came out in 95 and they have 7. And the quality is brilliant. |
yeh i know, but im just saying its better to wait, rather have them rush it if you know what i mean.

But Opeth haven't had major legal disputes, and members taking part in large scale side projects. That accounts for a good few years of the delays. Plus if you collectively put together all the albums the band has been involved in, there is a bit more than 7 there |
^^^
I know what you guys are saying, im just to impatient i guess. I jst with maynard would piss off from apc for a while. |

cool, any idea on their names, how they sound and what 'theme' this album shall take
|
Names and theme are a mystery, but sound is supposedly heavier than previous albums (remebering the Meshuggah influence), and Danny had stated in a conversation after a writing period that he had 'just been involved in the greatest piece of music he had ever been involved with in his career'
|
Whoa @ AJD's avatar. Dragonballage :smoke:
|
Yeah, im cool :D
|
The guys in Tool are far from Lazy. They all are involved in so many aspects of life and different projects that the Tool gig just isnt thier personal priority. They are in the posisition to choose to make Tool thier main focus when they want to and when they do focus on Tool the music it is always un-matched.
Quality over quantity.......... |
I wish Maynard would piss off from APC too, they do nothing for me.
I'm interested to hear this new album, especially with the whole meshuggah influence. |
Yea, APC was cool at first now its just old. Everyone should EMAIL Tools site and tell Maynard to quit ****in around with APC. Its almost like Maynard wants to be a rockstar all of a sudden and can't be the RockStar in Tool because of the way the guys in Tool think and react to that kind of attitude.
|
how the hell can you not like apc, i mean i personally like tool more but apc songs are so well put together. It also is another way just to listen to maynards great voice and lyrics.
|
I still can't believe that the new album will be inspired by meshuggah(drumming), tomas haake, I just love the man
and I love tool tto good to be true :D |
Can someone please explain to me what Meshuggah drumming is like?
and will their drumming be the only influence on Tool's music? |
can u guys explain how messhuggah sounds if its a band and recomment any songs? is it a band and how are they like?
|
Meshuggah are a band, and a very brutal one at that. They toured with tool during the last tour. If you saw the Osbournes episode where Jack drowned out the neighbours with loud music, it was Meshuggah he played.
I would say consult Zakath about them (he is their biggest fan on here), but hes been perm banned by the looks of things. ill root around for some audio |
I really hope that Tool's new album won't sound like too much like Meshuggah... Influence is good, but too much will turn around what makes Tool great. I wouldn't mind an album with Ticks and Leeches-type energy; energy is great, but pure anger simply won't be Tool.
I expect Danny to have new craziness developed, Justin to keep on the same track he was on with Ænima and Lateralus (I think if he does, it would counter the Meshuggah effect), and Adam and Maynard to get most of their changes from Meshuggah influence. |
I dunno what the new Tool album will be like. Knowing them you can't tell. Im guessing it will be different, as all their albums progress. But I know I won't be disappointed. Its well worth the wait.
|
I always say Meshuggah's drumming sounds like Animal from The Muppets, but 4 times bigger, and on steroids.
It's demented, basically. |
Yeah that should be pretty interesting to hear that.... because i have a Meshuggah cd (i think Chaosphere)and it has pretty good drumming but its not that different from all the other bands like them (meshuggah) out there. But yeah, i heard Tool's gonna go "heavier" on this new album, which i think will be pretty cool to hear because their heavy stuff is awesome, but then again i hope they dont go TOO heavy because i like their softer stuff too. But i guess we'll have to wait and see
one last thing, i'm pretty sure its posted on here but i dont feel like going through all those pages, but whens the release date expected to be? thanks |
i bet someone beat me to this buuut, early 2005, but they dont want it to get lost in the christmas rush, so its subject to change
|

Its hard for me to say, each album has its own personal style (Undertow - Heavy, Rough.. Aenima - Dark, Mysterious... Lateralus - Progressive, and Enlightening I guess) I got into Tool through Lateralus so I'd say Lateralus, but then Undertow, Aenima and Salival are just so good too. Its definitely too hard to make a choice for a favorite. |
Heres a question. does anybody no if people moshed at any tool concerts during the lateralus tour because i was wondering if anybody cold really mosh to that kind of music, me personaly would drifted into a mezmerized dream like state  due to the aura of tool.
how bout you? |
