whats a number 4?:(

Loyton 12-22-2005 06:48 PM

That machine will get nowhere if you dont get that gig o ram in there.

Der Meister 12-22-2005 06:49 PM

I'd hold off on XP64 till it get's some decent, compatible Anti virus software.

Or are there some good ones out for it now?

Jezen 12-22-2005 06:49 PM
3.0Ghz AMD Athlon 64
Ouch!

Brokensticks 12-22-2005 06:50 PM
I built this machine, unfortunately i ran out of money when it came to ram.

3.0Ghz AMD Athlon 64
256mb Ram :upset:
I forget which MoBo
Nvidia Geforce 5750
Creative soundblaster 7.1
200Gb HDD (nearly full :upset: )
Some DVD drive or other
LAN
Cheapo case with annoying blue lights

Gonna set it up to dual-boot XP Pro and XP64

Drum Phil 12-22-2005 06:50 PM

Loyton: I am seeing as its my b'day in 11 days :) Get some cash and have an upgrade, get a second HDD and a second GFX card or maybe a Dual head one :)

A number 4 is half an inch of hair

Hence the dual boot. Not using the net on it yet, just gonna get used to it until the full version comes out

My 64cpu PC keeps crashing and I can't work out why, it will work fine for games and the like but Word and IE crash it. Maybe you can help, you seem quite knowledgeable.

The screen will go offline along with the mouse/keyboard/speakers but the PC seems to working itself, the disk drives still open etc.

All drivers/updates/bios are up-to-date and it's not a ahrdware confliction. It sounds like somthing has overheated when it crashes but everything is at normal temp according to my Uguru clock

Brokensticks 12-22-2005 07:00 PM

We leave our dell on all the time, we don't turn anything off not the moniter or anything and we've never had a prolem
We leave our dell on all the time, we don't turn anything off not the moniter or anything and we've never had a prolem
that's just stupid :\

Drum Phil 12-22-2005 07:02 PM

Der meister ive not heard of anything like that before. Are your keyboard and mouse plugged into the onboard USB on the GFX/Sound card? I think it may be a motherboard or PCI problem, not an actual processor problem. The only problem i get is that WMP sometimes gives me the blue screen of doom, but thats just XP hating me i think. I leave it on for days at a time and all that happens is it slows down

Brokensticks 12-22-2005 07:03 PM

O well.... whats the worst that could happen.

Der Meister 12-22-2005 07:05 PM
O well.... whats the worst that could happen.
Your house catching fire?

And Phil, I plug the mouse/keyboard/speakers etc into the mobo but the LED screen on it is giving me the code that everything is working fine. The moniter is going into the gfx card which is at norm temp and the fan/leds on it are on.

I have no idea what to do. I guess I'll just have to not use MS office :\

Drum Phil 12-22-2005 07:07 PM

You could burn out your processor.

Mine was built to withstand that kinda heat, it has a heat sync the size of a small planet. Im also considering a backup fan just in case.

I doubt yours was designed like that

Der meister, the only way i can explain it is a loose connection or a faulty DLL somewhere.

I got rejected for a job at Pc World cause i put on my application

Perhaps downgrade your office?

better safe than sorry

Jezen 12-22-2005 07:10 PM

Yeah. If you need to use it, then that may be the best solution for now.

Half Life 12-22-2005 07:12 PM

Oh man, my dad just ordered me a 60 gig black IPOD for christmas  He even threw in next day shipping so I'll have it tomorrow. Wow this is just as cool as drum gear and I'm so pumped :thumb:

Der Meister 12-22-2005 07:13 PM

it's not just office, it seems anything designed by microsoft crashes it. Might be because I have a copied OS come to think of it

I only use it for playing online games really anyway so I'm not that bothered

Half Life 12-22-2005 08:51 PM

You bet I'll take pictures man. This thing is going to freaking own. 60 gigs is SO huge haha. That's as much as the hardrive of our computer

puppet.master 12-22-2005 08:53 PM

****ty deal for you man

ipods suck balls i got one :(

atleast ur getting one free

Brokensticks 12-22-2005 08:54 PM

They aren't as bad as everyone is making them out to be.

crazyguy832 12-22-2005 08:56 PM

RAM is cheap, man... I can get 512MB for about $60 Canadian... or is that a gig for $60? lol, one or the other.

iPods aren't actually that great. I've heard a LOT of bad things about them... like, when the battery dies, it's practically cheaper to buy a new one than to replace the battery.

Brokensticks 12-22-2005 09:01 PM

Don't you recharge the battery...

Jezen 12-22-2005 09:08 PM

After two years the battery completely dies. You can't recharge it.

rockindrummer 12-22-2005 09:12 PM

^ He ment that after a certain amount of time the battery just stops working and won't charge anymore.

Futuro 12-22-2005 09:15 PM

I just use my car stereo, and battery (What a concept!)

crazyguy832 12-22-2005 09:23 PM

But, still, if you pay $300 or something for an electronic item, you expect to at least be able to plug in new batteries...

LittlePound 12-22-2005 09:27 PM

yeah, most definately....

PremierManiac 12-22-2005 09:30 PM

I just found out what drum related stuff I'm getting for Christmas (I accidentally looked on my parents' Musician Friend's order tracking).

Zildjian A 18" thin crash
Zildjian A 16" thin crash
hardware bag

Can't wait until I get to use them in a week.

styler 12-22-2005 09:30 PM

sure, accidentally. we all believe you :) congratulations man

crazyguy832 12-22-2005 09:31 PM

Awesome, PM. Have fun with the crashes.

I want a true crash cymbal, instead of a crash/ride.
