by more grounded in reality i mean addressing real-life issues and correspondingly offering applicable insights and knowledge to a greater extent. i just don't see the inferno imparting very much useful knowlege when compared to some other "classics." if we are talking about religious-based western classics, i would put works from saint thomas aquinas and saint augustine, for instance, far above dante's in terms of practical usefulness.

i'm not saying its a bad work to read or anything though. i'm just saying, i personally don't see much point in reading it right now.

Matt I like a lot of straight metal but almost none of it gets me excited when I listen to it anymore save for some brutal death/grind bands and Slayer.

yeah it's understandable, i stopped liking metal a looong time ago and just really recently started enjoying it agian.

pulled out my slayer / early metallica cds.

i dig the black metal more then the brutal stuff i gotta admit.

I love black metal but its like with emo there are so many bands that ape a certain sound that it gets boring after a while.
