Nvmd
hehe, i acidently put this in a nother thread. Any who http://members.iinet.net.au/~pontipak/redsquare.html Its pretty addicting. |
Interesting, I guess PT is getting out there. I dunno, I think they're the best band around these days, and that comes from hearing them without any preconcieved notions. I heard In Absentia and Metanoia before I read any of the high praise the band gets and I nearly fainted from euphoria.
Yeah, apparently. Eh, I like Dredg a lot better but to be honest I like a lot of modern bands. My favorite band is actually fairly new themselves. I mean, I picked it up after hearing lots of praise, so I was a little biased by that, but still, it was very disappointing.
Indeed. I just stumbled across Trains on a random mix CD about a year ago that someone gave me...I don't even know who made the CD :-( Why do you call them mediocre, Permanent Solution? I'm really curious about that.
Heh, interesting. But then it's hard to say they're that obscure :p Unless the person who made it was a super music nut, which is possible. I guess I see them as mediocre because the music doesn't grb me in any ways. Music is an artform, and for something to really mean something to me, that's the necessary step for music to take in order to become more than just mediocre. I listen to PT and I don't get anything out of it. It's background noice to me, not something that draws me in and forces me to take an active listen. And mind you, I listen to lots of very simplistic music, but that music still appeals to me on another level, whilst PT doesn't. |
I do like Porcupine Tree, though I wouldn't go so far as to say their one of my top 10s. I do own a few CDs by them.
I do think that you can compare them to Pink Floyd within reason. If you listen past Dark Side Of The Moon and The Wall, you can see the comparison, though as Eggo says, the two surpass each other in different ways. Also, I wouldn't class them as mediocore, or overrated, though I believe Steve Wilson isn't the greatest singer of our generation. NP: Al Di Meola - Flight Over Rio
Should i make a Savatage thread?
Yes. Awesome band.
 I promise I won't go batshit insane ;)
Ban'd 4 batshit insane. |
Ohhhh, I just have it labelled as Voyage 34. Yeah, that album is best for listening to while completely blazed...But it's nothing at all like any of their studio albums, heh.
The additional "The Complete Trip" was added with the release of the Digipack version of the album, on which Wilson included Phases III and IV, completing the trip. NP: Pain of Salvation - ! |
ZOMGOMG Jake!!
You got Entropia? |

Really? Wow. I guess that really demonstrates the variance in subjective taste...In Absentia is one of the most gripping albums I have ever had the pleasure to listen to so far in my little life. |
It's already very late, I have a major history paper to finish writing, and I still aim to play guitar for two hours tonight. The question is, why am I so freakin' happy!!?? :)
NP: Lamb of God?????? |

That's right!!! :) It's such an uplifting feeling, even this Lamb of God sounds sweet to me right now. I spent way more time talknig to her then I should've today, but to me it was time well spent. :p |
Because you're in love, you fool.
Wow, that happened quick. :-\ |
ZOMGOMG Jake!!
You got Entropia?
Yessir. First listen, I didn't like it, but now it's growing on me exponentially. I love the slap bass/FX sections. It reminds me a lot of Jeff Beck, who is always an excellent influence. :p |
PS, what do you think of this tune?

That's supposed to be the hardest album of theirs to get into. Remedy Lane caught me on the first listen. 12:5 was hard to get into too the first listen, but it is a whole acoustic album. You should get on AIM. |
Kk, can do.

sittin' on the beach the island king of love deep in fijian seas deep in some blissful dream where the goddess finally sleeps in the lap of her lover subdued in all her rage and I am aglow with the taste of the demons driven out and happily replaced with the presence of real love the only one who saves I wanna dance with you I see a world where people live and die with grace the karmic ocean dried up and leave no trace I wanna dance with you I see a sky full of the stars that change our minds and lead us back to a world we would not face the stillness in your eyes convinces me that I I don't know a thing and I been around the world and I've tasted all the wines a half a billion times came sickened to your shores you show me what this life is for I wanna dance with you I see a world where people live and die with grace the karmic ocean dried up and leave no trace I wanna dance with you I see a sky full of the stars that change our minds and lead us back to a world we would not face in this altered state full of so much pain and rage you know we got to find a way to let it go sittin' on the beach the island king of love deep in fijian seas deep in the heart of it all where the goddess finally sleeps after eons of war and lifetimes she smilin' and free, nothin' left but a cracking voice and a song. |
PS, what do you think of this tune?
http://www.supload.com/sound_confirm.php?get=1127167120.mp3
The faster/harder portion is fairly catchy...but something about the vocals bugged me. Sounded like there was some sort of effect of synthesis that distorted them in a less than pleasing way. Maybe it was just layering, but I wasn't a fan. But besides the vocals it was fairly enjoyable. Alas the vocals were a primary focal point of the music. |

I find it funny how people always seem to quote songs when I get onto the topic of my uncharacteristically good mood. :) |
Okay, hold the phone. Is Shadows' girlfriend taste_my_scythe? Or am I wayyyyyyyyyy off the mark?
You kids and your relationships. Because, if it is, I hope you guys last longer than *Blue Haze* and Bat_Country did. Even then, I wouldn't want to see you guys at each others' throats like those two are all the time. |

Trillian isn't opening for me. My computer is being ultra gay as of late. I'm trying to uncap my Modem though. Then, I'll be able to operate at something like 200 kbps.

Guys, important stuff:
Watch out for the new scam that's been affecting malls across the United States, maybe in Canada, too. Two good-looking college-aged women come to your car as you are parking your car. One starts wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex while the other comes to your window saying "Hi," while bending over with her breasts almost coming out of her blouse - it's bloody impossible not to look - when you thank them and offer them a tip. They tell you no but beg you for a ride to another mall. The suckers for this scam agree and usually tell them to sit in the back. On the way, they start having sex in the back seat. Then, one of them hops in the front and starts giving you oral while the other one tries to steal your wallet. I was assaulted last Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, but I couldn't find them Saturday or Sunday. Be careful, gentlemen, and watch out for this! |
I'm sorry to hear about that, man.
