Doesn't his girlfriend like HIM? That would explain it...

Lord Abortion 02-26-2006 03:57 PM

HIM aren't all that bad, really.

they're one of the musically better scenester kid bands.
They're not great, but there is worse out there.

Illmatic 02-26-2006 04:01 PM

Also, here is a head scratcher for you: how come a guy with a girlfriend AND access to the internet (which means access to just about every kind of p0rn on the planet) still be interested in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue?

I just don't know :-\

Shadows 02-26-2006 04:02 PM

That is a head scratcher, even though I'm not interested in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue or internet p0rn.

And there's nothing wrong with HIM.

Sweet, may day has been made. Not only did I find a perfect online German translator to write my script with, but I found a song that had one of those riffs that you just HAVE to learn when you hear it, plus a perfect tab for it.

Score. :)

I don't know, that makes no sense.

It doesn't even have nude ladies in does it?

Illmatic 02-26-2006 04:20 PM
I don't know, that makes no sense.

No it doesn't. And I can't explain why I got it. It does have a few beautiful women in it (two in particular, a Jamaican girl and a half-Brazillian, half-Japanese girl girl) but most of it is more of the same.

At least this year's issue finally helped me realize why I don't find Maria Sharapova remotely attractive.

Bartender 02-26-2006 04:34 PM

Maybe it was just some kind of instinct.

I often find that the hint of what lies underneath clothes is much, much more erotic than the proof. When you look at porn, you're looking, theoretically, at the acting out of your fantasies anyway, right? I would probably be much more consistantly aroused by the hint of a thong, a short peek up a skirt, or down a busty girl's shirt rather than a full-on, out-there breast, butt, or...other thing, because at that point your imagination is stoked by an idea rather than killed by an irrevocable reality. You know?

So that's your explanation.

She's not incredibly attractive, just in a sport for women who generally look like the ungodly meeting of horse and bull, she's pretty hot ...

It depends if you like the schoolgirl look or not ;)

I actually agree with this now that I think about it.

I dunno, a naked breast looks every bit as good as cleavage or whatever.

But I guess that makes sense.
Some kind of base, primal urge that forces man to purchase soft-core p0rnography?
You say that as if it's a bad thing.

She has that "Russian girl" look...too skinny, sunken eyes, and so on. It looks gross, like she's a cheap hooker or a mail-order bride.

There are more attractive tennis players.

But Sports Illustrated swimsuit thingy, from what very little I know of it, just has them sitting/lying there in swimsuits. Which is boring.

EDIT: I'm on your side; I just mean that it suffers the same problem you're diagnosing.

^Dream~Theater^ 02-26-2006 04:52 PM

Cain's point making perfect sense. I didnt think of it at the time, but now he couldnt be any more right. It's the mystery

Lunch 02-26-2006 04:52 PM

It's easy to say that and think it's boring, but it's differnet when you're at a store and then you see the cover. You got the urge then.

Bartender 02-26-2006 05:09 PM

Yeah, I know. I'm just saying that once you get it home, it doesn't remain an argument for it being any good :)

Anyway. Just saw a clip from Napoleon Dynamite, and thankfully it was one of the two good bits in the film. Glad it was short, though.

Lunch 02-26-2006 05:13 PM

That is true.

I thought Napoleon Dynamite was terrible. The only potentially funny parts were ruined by the annoying characters and voices.

TojesDolan 02-26-2006 05:25 PM

Meh... Sometimes it's even funnier to watch teases more than mega naked females on the internet.

Althought nothing beats actual flesh contact. That for sure means there's trouble. Maybe not.

Maybe I'm too much into teases. And having non-nude stuff I can watch without a certain amount of guilt.

EDIT: Now that I read that it didn't make a lot of sense. :upset:

Steerpike 02-26-2006 05:26 PM

I thought Napolean Dynamite was a cute indie film, but it was really overrated. If I see one more T-shirt quoting some obscure snippet of dialog from that show, I'm gonna rip somebody's friggin' head off.

On a side note, one of my housemates is a slob. All year, his girlfriend spends so much time at our house, she may as well just move in. And he keeps cooking dinner for the two of them, always the instant meals like mac&cheese from Safeway.

But what annoys me so much about this is he always uses everyone else's dishes, and he never fucking cleans them! The sink has blocked up 8 times over the course of the year because he never dumps the large chunks of food into the garbage before putting the dishes in the sink, if he even puts them there at all.

I came down to the kitchen this morning to find he'd used my saucepan and my frying pan and left them both on the stove for all the cheese, noodles and sauce to fossilize. He also used my friend's metal spatula, so the non-stick coatings on both now have dozens of scratches and scars.

Even when he does wash the dishes, he does such a poor job of it that we always find the stuff he used covered in water stains and dried soap scum. Christ, an infant could do better than that.

The next time I see him, I'm just going to tell him to his face that he is forbidden from using my kitchenware the rest of the semester. He is going to wash what he used last night with me supervising to make sure he doesn't do a slipshod job again.

Jesus haploid Christ. Unless he starts walking on all fours, drinking out of the toilet, and licking his own balls, I shoould not have to clean up after him every single day.

Bartender 02-26-2006 05:38 PM

The last time I used a friend's spatula, I broke it. She was not pleased, and I couldn't stop laughing.

Did you have a mess to clean up when you awoke?

My weekend was pretty good. I am dreading University.

I got real plastered on both Friday and Saturday nights. It was good.

Saturday went from very disappointing and doing nothing at about 9:30 pm to good time at my friend's older brother's house.

Your avatar is far too big to be efficient.

I had 4 days of make up work to do today, so I know your feeling of dreading uni to a certain degree.

Lunch - I had planned on drinking on Friday, but someone found out about the party and told our school's administration, so that foiled our plans. :(

Ice skating is dangerous, the damage level/fall is high and the damage is inversely proportional to fun. In other words, the only way to have fun ice skating is to not stack it. The only way to ensure a stack free skate is to ban all those ****ing little kids

Riva 02-26-2006 06:30 PM

Hehe. I'm not one for ice-skating.
