Oh yeaah

i was at a bar tonite and they played some Morphine songs. neat.

One of those best jazz albums of the year is actually very good. Time Lines by Andrew Hill. I can't, however, help but feel like his horn players were trying to conjure up Freddie Hubbard and Eric Dolphy.
I've had An Electric Storm in my hammerspace Amazon basket for months now. Whenever it comes down to actually ordering, it always gets kicked aside for something else. Is it worth the time?
Depends. It's really more of a curio than anything; there are a couple really awesome songs (at least by my measure, which is pretty lenient when it comes to psychedelic pop), but there is also a lot of tinkering that sounds pretty dated. I'd probably buy it, but not if it was anymore than $14.

Earlier today, I was digging some Swell Maps. I want to listen to some Frank Black now though, because I might get free tickets to his show here next month.

I think I've decided what will be #1 on my 75-84 list. Now I have about 80 more to go.
Aaah, clever retort.
I'm sorry, but from the moment I heard their cover of "Norwegian Wood," I was so appalled and offended that I could never see them in a positive light again.

there's some weak stuff, there's some great stuff. "Reality Used to Be a Friend of Mine" is awesome.
I'm sorry, but from the moment I heard their cover of "Norwegian Wood," I was so appalled and offended that I could never see them in a positive light again.
Haha, yeah. I can understand that, it's quite the ridiculous cover. Covers aren't their forte - luckily they usually stick to original material.

JonM 07-21-2006 11:17 AM

I think Blueberry Boat is a great record, and EP is pretty good too, but I can't stand the new record. It's unfortunate that I heard it after I heard "Norwegian Wood."

metalicajaymz 07-21-2006 02:26 PM

Prince - Dirty Mind
Prince - Purple Rain

These better be on everybody's 75-84 lists.

Robert Crumb 07-21-2006 02:29 PM

Another Outkast Idlewild song leaked. "Idlewild Blue (Don'tchu Worry 'Bout Me)" is the title. Very interesting stuff, a huge difference between this and "Mighty O." It's all Andre, a bit what you might expect after Love Below, except this has a heavier blues influence. Neat pop song, perhaps too kitchsy for the mainstream rap audience, though. I like it more than "Mighty O."

Far from their best, but this one's sort of overlooked. Nice little pop songs like "The Host" and "You Are" make it worth your while.

Tom Waits - Bone Machine
Duke Ellington - Masterpieces by Ellington
The Jesus Lizard - Goat

Great albums, yeah?

hey Pink Flag has finally grabbed my attention. i guess it was from "go go go go go go Mr. Suit!" or something. it's like The Clash but without all the bullshit, and understandably the songs are shorter for it.

ATM 07-22-2006 06:27 AM

I watched the new Outkast video, Morris Brown, and its really awesome.

Also checked out the new Gnarls Barkley video for Smiley Faces and its very good.
