I just learned Hotel California on the guitar, theirs alot of stuff goin on there, its not just like appregos for G and A and C or watever, its very complicated.
If by any chance somebody here plays guitar, I need some cheaper versions of Gilmours effects, since he invest a good 300 bucks into those machines, and i couldnt live another 20 years and make that much money. I plan on covering the entire Dark Side of the Moon Album, so this isnt going to be cheap And another question...I believe a slide guitar is used in Breathe and The great Gig in the Sky...is there anyway i can get a sound like that out of a normal guitar, with a metal slide or anything. Im looking at a DSOTM guitar tab book on thursday, hopefully it will have everything for both guitars, effects used, and actually incluse the entire song
hotel california is great to play on guitar, did you know there is about eight different guitars going on at once? im assuming you are playing the 12 string acoustic part. the secret to buying good effects for cheap is pawn shops, people buy good effects when they have a lot of money, and then end up selling them when they are low on cash. pawn shops have lots of great guitar stuff for pretty cheap, and some of it is barely even used. and you probably could just use a slide with your electric, it may not sound exact, but it will be better than nothing. slide guitar is hard to get sounding perfect, so i suggest you practice a little before you start recording. and also...look over the tab book to see if it has all the parts, one time i was looking at a tab book for Led Zeppelin, and it left out the solo for Stairway as well as a lot of rhythm guitar tracks. |

Yeah as thickasabrick already said the key is pawn shops. /has been looking for a pedal for last few weeks |
Just to catch up...
DSOTM is not overrated. Your opinion just sucks. Tom Petty is awesome. Bruce Springsteen is awesome. To all of you n00bs who posted once and don't intend to post here again: screw you. Hotel California is a very well written song. It's fun and easy to play on guitar :) Led Zeppelin won he classic rock poll by the way :( |

i bought this one bruce springsteen album (for 1 dollar) that is a collection of live songs from 75 to 78 and it comes with its own little box and book. (theres like five different records in it or something like that) the book is cool because it kind of explains where each song came from and stuff like that.
its a great live album collection, although it takes a whole day to listen to all of it, anyone else have it? i suggest it highly if you are into springsteen. |
What about stuff if you haven't heard much before?
|
I'm note a Springstein fan at all however Tom is the man.
|
What about stuff if you haven't heard much before?
Acctually Springstein sucks. What does everybody think of the Byrds
|
the byrds suck. what does everyone think of springsteen.
well i like the byrds, although some think they only built their fame on the dylan songs they covered(which was only partly true). decent songs though, but they don't blow my mind or anything. |
Acctually Springstein sucks. What does everybody think of the Byrds
It's not Springsteen that's doing the sucking, IT'S YOUR OPINION THAT IS  The Byrds are pretty good. |

Yeah I kind of think that the Byrds kind of built the sucsess on Dylan but they do have some good tunes. |

The Byrds are pretty good.
"It's all a matter of opinion"-Your old usertitle |

BORN IN THE U.S....A? :upset: what a dick
I like that song :(. Doesn't it sound good to you? |

To cheesey for my likings. No ofense. |
I wish I could be as big a Led Zeppelin Fanboy as JPJ.
|
To cheesey for my likings. No ofense.
The song Born In The USA is a serious vietnam protest song. It's not cheesey. And none of his other songs are. But "it's all a matter of opinion". |

Like Clarence White, whoa!!!!!!!!!!! And of course Crosby, and Mcguinn's voice. They also have a Country sense, while Bob has a Folk sense. |
I wish I could be as big a Led Zeppelin Fanboy as JPJ.
Same with me. :upset: Firstly I need a username with A Zeppelin member in it or just the word Zeppelin in it. Yeah |
I like The River and Streets of Philadelphia by Springsteen.
And the Birds absolutely rule..Eight Miles High is the greatest. McGuinn had a great voice...The Ballad of Easy Rider is short but sweet. |
Same with me. :upset:

Ho ho ho.
This could get interesting. Keep it in the Zeppelin thread so this one doesnt get closed. |
I agree:
JPJ is a great bassist. I've considered covering DSOTM as well, if I can ever get some other guys who know how to play together. I want to learn Hotel California really bad after hearing the live version. I've also been really interested in Gilmour's effects.
