Love seeing Seam in that list... great band that really doesnt get enough recognition. I've been digging MBV Loveless and Q and not U lately.

Robert Crumb 07-15-2006 11:34 AM

Nice list. It has personality.

Listening to Yo La Tengo, might end up seeing them in August. Should be awesome. Also, Mountain Goats album is solid, at least as good as the last one. Probably better. Respect Darnielle.
If there's no Creed, it's because I don't like Creed.
Haha, that made ma laugh.

It's hot today, so been diggin' some Black Uhuru.

Electrocution 07-15-2006 02:32 PM

Lootpack, Quasimoto, Devendra Banhart, downloading some Vashti Bunyan, so I'm pretty pumped for that.

The The - Infected

br3ad_man 07-15-2006 05:53 PM

I'm making that tape for my friend, so I've been listening to Blackalicious, The Smiths, Fugazi and the Beastie Boys. I'm wondering if I should throw a Locust song on there. Probably not.

Bartender 07-15-2006 06:15 PM

Hound Dog Taylor - Hound Dog Taylor and Houserockers

Only my first listen to this, but it sounds pretty good. Once you get past that one rhythm that all blues songs, ever, have.

Also developing a serious addiction to Carole King - Where You Lead and Connie Francis - I Will Wait For You. Most of the other stuff I've listened to recently has just been re-digging old stuff that I can't be bothered recounting.

Do it. But make sure its one of their 20 second ones, that'll throw em off.

Robert Crumb 07-15-2006 06:52 PM

the Free Design - Kites Are Fun

I want to put a Free Design song on a mix and I want it to make someone really happy.

Glitterati 07-15-2006 07:13 PM

Elliott Smith - Roman Candle

it certainly wouldn't make for a "good" mix.

YDload 07-15-2006 10:59 PM

"Star Sign" by Teenage Fanclub is a pretty good song, I suppose.

Phallus Dei 07-15-2006 11:35 PM

Definitely check out Peggy Suicide and World Shut Your Mouth if you haven't.

Mew- Frengers

Anyone want to reccommend another great Mew album?

el doctor 07-16-2006 09:14 AM

The Format - Dog Problems

Really fun album.

Jacaranda 07-16-2006 09:40 AM

That was pretty meh worthy. I actually usually like the Killers because they are fun and catchy and that song was neither, really.

asymm 07-16-2006 09:48 AM

Yeah, it's not bad. It's a solid pop song, but it's not a giant revelation beyond their debut. At the same time though, it is obvious they attempted to change and hone their sound which is refreshing for a band with such fame.

Robert Crumb 07-16-2006 12:16 PM

Lupe Fiasco - Food and Liquor

This needs to come out proper like in a hurry. Was skeptical/needlessly critical at first, but this is so good, a perfect summer hip-hop album. Leak is at least as good, if not better than Fishscale.
www.myspace.com/thekillers

ok you guys have to tell me what you think of the new song, because I like it way too much for it to be the Killers.
wow. i must admit, it's a huge improvement. unfortunately the singer still can't hit more than 3 notes in one song though.

and what in the world?? they have beards and long hair now!

Zebra 07-16-2006 01:03 PM

Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells

This is the only Oldfield album that I still listen to, but it's excellent.

The Mars Volta - Amputechture
The Lawrence Arms - Oh! Calcutta!
Off Minor - The Heat Death Of The Universe

Tom Waits - Mule Variations and Alice

My two new Waits album (I bought Blue Valentine as well, but haven't listened to it as much. I now find it easier to get into the albums, where he sings like a demon). Mule Variations is obviously the superior album, but they're both great.

The Great Decay 07-16-2006 04:41 PM
I'm pumped to see the Mountain Goats this summer. Great songwriter.
What would be a good album to get into these guys?

Prince is the ultimate wackjob in the mainstream. Nobody's ever been as popular as him and still as weird as him. No one I can think of at least.
Santana - Abraxas

Anxious 07-16-2006 06:01 PM

I hate Santana so much. Its probably groundless and I can probably trace it back to my troubled childhood, but I perfer not too if you don't mind.

Jawaharal 07-16-2006 06:16 PM

I saw Prince live for free once.

I got Witness today on cd. I dig.

Cramps - The Smell of Female

The first CD I ever owned was given to me by someone I don't even know, and it was Sly and the Family Stone. I don't think I've listened to it since then.

Well_Respected_Man 07-16-2006 11:49 PM

Autechre makes nice cold ambeint grooves. It reminds of the First Outer Limits episode where the guy is using his radio station tower to KONTAKT aliens and his wife doesn't like the cold vibe of the place he's been giving off with endless adapters, wavelengths and drones etc.
