I was wondering today why we don't really have a drug talk forum. Haha it's kind of weird to think about but I mean, lets face it, the topic comes up a lot in the community forum. And, frankly, it's fun to talk about drugs. So is there any reason I shouldn't make a drug discussion thread? For some reason I feel obliged to come in here and ask first haha.

Well. It's a tricky issue.

We can't have them as it'd be an endorsment of drugs.

You shouldn't make one without mod/admin permission as to avoid a ban.

The community thread is designated for all off topic discussion including drug talk. There's no reason to create another off topic thread just for drugs.

But if you want to talk about the prevalence of drugs in rock and metal, that could make for an interesting thread.

As for reasons not to do it: you might get banned.

I doubt R&M would be the right place, that woulda been more suitable for The Pit, but now I don't know where you should put it, but I think it's fine in the Community Thread. We don't need an entire forum devoted to "Ideas I should have gotten on video so I'd remember them" thread.

By popular analysis/stereotype, the CR thread is the traditional home to all the drug talk. And I guess the Community thread can pass.

Haha hmm all good points. That "drug prevelance in rock and roll" idea is pretty cool though. But yeah, I figured I better get a mod's approval before posting anything really devoted to drugs.

If you made a thread to discuss the prevalence of drug use in rock and metal I doubt a mod would mind because it's on topic.

But a thread devoted to drugs off r&m topic would be a no no i'd guess.

The drug effect on particular groups or individuals could make for an interesting thread though, especially since drug use is so prevelant in rock music.

That's why I've been subtly pushing for it to be made :p

Drug speak is prohibited since this is meant to be a family site. Drugs + children doesn't work. Really, I've tried. It justs ends up in a big mess :(

You can always do an informative write-up ( remember the series?)

I tried to do a little research, and Wikipedia doesn't turn up much for anything along the lines of the influence of drugs on rock music. :p So I'd probably have to search a little more. Even if I could find some information, I'm not sure I'd do it. I mean, it could be interesting to read, but I can't picture it sparking any good conversation.

I don't think the topic would create too much of a fuss, though. If you go into the community thread, there's someone talking about marijuana, shrooms or acid every other day.

A LOT of classic rock and Psychedelic rock wouldn't be there if it wasn''t for drugs (esp. LSD), so search a little more, most of the music you know has been atleast somehow influenced by other musicians using drugs.

Enough of the drugs talk now though.
