I'm stealing Atheist from you on slsk.
You have a good transfer.
Go ahead and take anything you want. I don't really have a queue right now.

I had no idea my transfer was so good. I'm impressed considering I'm downloading Adobe Photoshop at 50k.

I heart Opeth!

Darkness 03-24-2006 11:02 PM

Who are you guys on Soulseek?

Killtacular 03-24-2006 11:03 PM

Rancor.

I should check out atheist tonight. Been hearing alot of good stuff about them lately

Killtacular 03-24-2006 11:06 PM

I got Elements a few weeks ago, but I never gave it a good listen.
Something weird has been happening. Everytime I listen to The Leper Affinity, I hear orgasms during the solo.

Wait a second, they're mine!
Thats Opeths best solo,for me.

There's a topic we haven't touched in a little while! I feel compelled to contribute to the conversation again. It is indeed an extremely well written solo. Ah crap, I had more to say but I'm listening to Sonata Arctica's Full Moon and I always get so into the song cause it's so GOOD, so now I've forgotten. Perhaps I'll remember in a minute.

EDIT: Uh still can't remember what I was gunna say, so I'll just state I always forget how much I love the riff after the clean solo in The Twilight Is My Robe, you know the dun da dununununu dana da dana da....eh?

Deth 03-25-2006 09:28 AM

White Cluster, The Funeral Portrait and Deliverance have some of my favorite solos.

I love the entire song, it's so fun to play on guitar. Orchid is so amazing. :)

N.P. In Mist She Was Standing ~ Opeth

I heard a rumor about Opeth kicking ass. Eight albums later I learned it wasn't a rumor, it was completely true.

Now for some Blackwater Park before I'm off to work.

Deth 03-25-2006 11:02 AM

What took you so long to get into Opeth?

Darkness 03-25-2006 11:02 AM
White Cluster, The Funeral Portrait and Deliverance have some of my favorite solos.
Add Wreath and those are my favorites also.

UpperDecker 03-25-2006 11:02 AM

I think Godheads Lament has the best solo.

Kaiwaz 03-25-2006 11:07 AM

I'm currently working on the last 2 solos on The Apostle In Triumph.

Jude 03-25-2006 12:11 PM

White Cluster has the awesomest Opeth solo IMO.

Moses 03-25-2006 12:15 PM

Love how their solos are all memorable.

He played it perfectly live, it was sweet.

Deth 03-25-2006 01:12 PM

Is it dueling or just one guitarist? On the album it sounds like they go back and forth.

Stoo 03-25-2006 01:34 PM
He played it perfectly live, it was sweet.
As opposed to being really crap at playing his own music. :p

He heard Ghost Reveries first.

As for solos, A Fair Judgement wins.

I'd have to agree with you, I'm working on learning all of it. but White Cluster comes in very second close.
As opposed to being really crap at playing his own music. :p
As opposed to improvising it, like he does with The Drapery Falls.

TojesDolan 03-25-2006 04:45 PM

OK let's see... A fair judgement, Windowpane (2nd solo, the one with more vibrato or light distortion), Wreath (both solos), Hours of Wealth (omg GR), Serenity Painted Death.

Stoo 03-25-2006 04:49 PM
As opposed to improvising it, like he does with The Drapery Falls.
Well you should have said "He played the solo like it is on the album".

Just felt like whoring my own work, it's a brand new/semi-new/re-posted revision at Lamentations DVD.

<_<

Hope you enjoy it or something.

RouteOne 03-25-2006 06:36 PM

I finally found a copy of MAYH today. All I can say is, "WOW".

Toaster 03-25-2006 06:38 PM
As opposed to improvising it, like he does with The Drapery Falls.
Actually, I think he has that one planned out too. I remember seeing a video (Dissecting The Drapery Falls maybe?) where he says he forgot the one on the record, but he always plays the same one. I remember the one on the video was the same one he plays live.

Anyway, my favourite would have to be the last solo in Deliverance. I love it when all the instruments cut out.

Darkness 03-25-2006 06:41 PM

I'm pretty sure he improvises that one every time. When I saw it live, compared to on Lamentations and the record, all three were different. I made a special note to pay attention to the solo when I saw it live.

Oh well, it's not important.
