Make Believe - Shock of Being
the new Bronx album

After hearing the whole album, The Bronx pretty much blew away my expectations of it. "Three Dead Sisters" kind of sounds like a Hot Snakes song. hmm..

You got fired?

Little Man being Erased 07-12-2006 06:33 PM

I'm listening to a whole buch of stuff I'll be catching at Splendour next weekend.

DJ Shadow
Sonic Youth
Beach Boys
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
The Presets
You Am I
Death Cab for Cutie

And I'm even giving TV on the Radio and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah another chance. No luck so far though.

Jawaharal 07-12-2006 07:16 PM

The new Tv on The Radio is awesome. I dig alot.

The Jungler 07-12-2006 07:18 PM

I'm starting to listen to Amon Tobin, he's some Jungle music guy. Very dark.

Syncratic 07-12-2006 07:25 PM

I really like Jaga Jazzist. Really, really like.

nutty_bar 07-12-2006 08:10 PM

I am on an "Islands" kick myself. The two frontmen of the Unicorns trio. Great stuff.

No it isn't.

what the fudge are you talking about negro? It rules.

pixiesfanyo 07-12-2006 08:30 PM

It's terriblely boring.

I'm guessing you like everything Pitchfork likes Cheeto?

Little Man being Erased 07-12-2006 08:49 PM

TV on the Radio are really nothing special or even at all interesting.

I didn't even get introduced to Tv On The Radio through Pitchfork. My friends gave it to me.

YDload 07-12-2006 09:13 PM

TV On the Radio is special, but it's up to your personal taste to decide if they're interesting or not.

Anyway I finally came to my senses and realized how awesome the song "River Euphrates" is. At first I didn't like it that much because it was too disturbing, but I've stopped being a pussy and learned to enjoy it :)

Jawaharal 07-12-2006 09:13 PM

k so I guess I should stop listening to crappy ol' Tv on the radio =(

Now its time for Frog Eyes and Minutemen.

YDload 07-12-2006 09:32 PM

Well you know how it is with the Pixies. You get your muffled screams here and there, it's a nice way to add some complexity to the group.

Anyway, I've heard of Cows and Owls but never Bats. Do these groups sound anything alike?

They're all pretty different from each other.

sr800bkBassist 07-12-2006 09:40 PM

i got some CD by TV on the Radio a while back called OK Calculator. worst crap i've ever heard. is it really them? doesn't sound like the cool electronic jazzy indie stuff i remember their other stuff to be.

sr800bkBassist 07-12-2006 09:45 PM
I think it's their first demos or something that they didn't intend for release? Something like that.

Ween - The Mollusk

This gets better each time. Started out as "crap", and is now "wow not that bad at all". However "The Blarney Stone" is still unlistenable.
if i were them, i wouldn't intend it to be released either. i'd probably kill myself along with everyone who encouraged me to record it.

Robert Crumb 07-12-2006 10:13 PM

TV on the Radio is good. Latest album is good. Old album is good. Still waiting for something great. Never heard the OK Calculator ****. Wouldn't be surprised if it sucked.

Diggin' some Gal Costa at the moment. Trying to decide on what to play next, something that runs around a half hour long.

Told ya'll. Everyone whos heard it has a hard on for it, it's a beautiful thing.

Tangy zizzle 07-12-2006 10:25 PM
Good song. Disturbing how?

Anyway, everyone should listen to the Bats.
They're a decent band. Pretty boring live but.

Tangy zizzle 07-12-2006 10:27 PM

Oh yeah, Nacho - I listened to some of that White Whale record the other night. It seemed decent, kinda odd aswell.

Tangy zizzle 07-12-2006 10:33 PM

Who would you liken them to? There's a get up kid in the band right?

Tangy zizzle 07-12-2006 10:35 PM

That's kinda what I thought. Like a guitar-Decemberists.

Activista anti-MTV 07-12-2006 11:43 PM

So this "dig" isn't literal...[fifth amendment]...got to go

thefevafortheflava 07-13-2006 12:47 AM

Ok first post, so I don't know if anybodys mentioned this yet but I just downloaded the first Solo album by Thom Yorke and it's pretty good... Although it's a little lacking if you go into it expecting it to be a new Radiohead release... I think you have to look at it as more of an unplugged Thom acoustic cd of sorts.. All in all good album.

Also lately I've been listening to
The Eels
Sigur Ros
Iron and Wine
Damien Rice
and a lot of random acoustic cover songs from and by various artists

Tangy zizzle 07-13-2006 01:30 AM

BORING.

Kill, kill kill for peace.

What? was that directed at my post? That post wasn't very specific.

Tangy zizzle 07-13-2006 01:43 AM

Oh dear, we must rectify this horrible, horrible occurance. I might have to miss church to sort this out.

Way to pointlessly flame the new guy.
River Euphrates
That's my favourite song from that album. The melody is sooo good.

I'm digging Bakesale by Sebadoh and Young Team by Mogwai. I'm going to start getting into Splendour bands now.

Interstate 07-13-2006 03:22 AM

Dizzee Rascal - Boy In Da Corner

br3ad_man 07-13-2006 05:23 AM

The new Bronx, it's up on myspace. It totally slays. Shitty Future would be in my top 5 songs of the year.

I Was A Kaleidoscope 07-13-2006 05:39 AM

Man, the new Justin Timberlake song is catchy. Please shoot me now

JonM 07-13-2006 07:45 AM
Great album.

I'm still all about Ween.
It is rather good. Showtime isn't too shabby either. Can't wait for his next record (whenever that is).

Digs:

Mobb Deep - Blood Money
Mobb Deep - The Infamous - These two albums are so unlike each other it's untrue.
Onyx - All We Got Iz Us
The Revolutionary Hydra - Swiss Admiral EP
