Hey dude, It's really not that big of a deal. If you want to go there and you have proof that you are well educated they will take you. Half of our "Brilliant" people in society have no social skills what so ever. you'll do fine.
I know, I just get nervous talking to people I don't know. I know it's not a big deal, but I can't convinve my brain otherwise. When it comes time for me to audition it's going to be hell. :(

I know what you mean though...It's hard for me just to look someone in the eye when they are talking...I'm just weird I guess

I'm Charming 02-02-2006 06:52 PM

I can never think of jack **** to say on the phone... no matter who it is.

In person, I'm completly different.

On IM, I talk plenty.

Toaster 02-02-2006 06:56 PM

I can talk to people fine, but people tell me I'm a really condescending person before I get to know them. I don't try to come across that way at all.. I guess most people just resent that I'm smarter than them. :p

GenuineImitation 02-02-2006 06:58 PM

What album do you think would be easier for friend to like? He has never heard of CoB and isnt the biggest metal fan (he likes mostly classic and hard rock). Im thinking Follow the Reaper. I dont want to turn him off to metal and/or CoB.

MRDuCran 02-02-2006 07:00 PM

Errr has anyone transcribed the solo from the single version of Hate Me???

Toaster 02-02-2006 07:00 PM

I'd say HCD. I could see someone who isn't used to heavy music being turned off by FTR, it's a lot less "modern" sounding than HCD to me.

I say alot of things as jokes... If you know me, you'll get it.. and laugh..

If you just met me five minutes ago... You'd think I was a total asshole.

Forlorn Hope 02-02-2006 07:01 PM

Yea, I would say start him off with Hatecrew Deathroll. Also, maybe start with a slower song like Angels Don't Kill...that's the first one I ever heard.

Possibly. What about Are You Dead Yet? Its a different sound compared to their other works, but it may get him used to the vocals. Its the vocals that will most likely turn him off because he appreciates all music. (He plays the guitar, drums, piano and saxaphone)

Something Wild has plenty of classic in it. Go with that.

Forlorn Hope 02-02-2006 07:02 PM
Is it different?
Yes, Alexi re-did the solo for the album.

It's a lot heavier and less melodic though. Plus, he wouldn't be open enough to older Bodom if he started with AYDY. Just tell him to ignore the vocals to start with.

I'm Charming 02-02-2006 07:03 PM

Cover his ears. :p

Follow the Reaper is good to start with too.

I'm Charming 02-02-2006 07:04 PM

Just get all except AYDY.. Once he's a fanboy... Then get AYDY.

Shadows 02-02-2006 07:05 PM

I started with Something Wild and that got me interested. I'd say any of the older albums.

GenuineImitation 02-02-2006 07:05 PM

I think I'll start with HCD and tell him to ignore the lyrics and focus on the music. Once he likes the instruments, he'll slowly get used to the vocals.

The first song I heard was Black Widow and I want into anything heavier than metallica at the time.

Yes, but were you into classic rock at the time?

Shadows 02-02-2006 07:07 PM
Yes, but were you into classic rock at the time?

^I'd go with that, GI.
Nope, I was never really into classic rock.

If they like classic rock, then it's all hoing to seem off-putting at first. Just pick an album and give it time to grow.

Heavier? Each album got heavier as it went, not the other way around. Something Wild is about as heavy as ...And Justice For All by Metallica, while AYDY is leagues heavier.
It's just a phone call. I mean, if you can talk to you girlfriend for hours, it shouldn't be that hard..
.. I was saying that AYDY is too heavy an album for someone into classic rock. I think HCDR is probably their least heavy album, actually. It's got some chug going but it's a lot less raw-sounding than Bodom's early work, which was what I was getting at.

blue3 02-02-2006 07:10 PM
yeah its just like going to get a job hey
no not really hey

thelowsoundofbass 02-02-2006 07:11 PM

anyone have their cover of oops i did it again? i would really like to have it, if you could YSI it to me that would be sweet.

lowsound

GenuineImitation 02-02-2006 07:11 PM

Im slowly getting him into Megadeth, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Pantera and Testament. He like metal music in general so far, but Im still worried the lyrics will put him off. I may start with Somethign Wild or HCD. Im still not sure but some reflection and listening to the albums should give me the answer.

Forlorn Hope 02-02-2006 07:12 PM

Depends on the girl really :p hey

Apocalyptic Raids 02-02-2006 07:13 PM

Follow The Reaper is the best for starting on. It has plenty of melody and is the catchiest Bodom album.
