Little Man being Erased 06-23-2005 11:08 PM

I just got it. But I can't install the messenger because I'm at work and I don't have admin privileges.

Not peer pressure. Mods don't consider normal users "peers."

More as "mere mortals?", amirite?

Wanker 06-23-2005 11:23 PM

Don't worry, we know our place.

:shifty:

Zappa 06-23-2005 11:23 PM

It's sort of like that. Yeah.

Wanker 06-23-2005 11:29 PM

Man, I wish I had that much control when I'm wrecked.

br3ad_man 06-24-2005 06:46 AM

I picked up Porgy and Bess on vinyl for 12 bucks today. There were 2 other used metal cds that I wanted and they didn't have them, even though it was in their database. Silly Rockinghorse.

Iai 06-24-2005 06:49 AM

I got Porgy & Bess for £4, new.

Jazz CDs are incredibly cheap here. Except Bitches Brew.

br3ad_man 06-24-2005 06:50 AM

Only jazz compilations are cheap here. Which sucks.

Zmev 06-24-2005 06:51 AM

I found Heavy Weather by the Weather Report for $8.

br3ad_man 06-24-2005 06:53 AM

I found Kind of Blue for $2

Annoyingly true.

Zappa 06-24-2005 09:31 AM

In honor I put on Bitches Brew. Such an enthralling record.

I must be going to the wrong places to buy my CD's.

The album that got me into jazz.

Zappa 06-24-2005 01:56 PM

How many jazz albums have you bought since you got it? How many of them aren't by Miles or Coltrane?

Wanker 06-24-2005 02:04 PM

Do you like Herbie Hancock? I've got a bunch of his songs; I want more though.

Zappa 06-24-2005 02:11 PM

Yes. Herbie's done some great stuff.

Glitterati 06-24-2005 02:44 PM
How many jazz albums have you bought since you got it? How many of them aren't by Miles or Coltrane?
Unfortunately, I only got it about a week ago. I've been looking into getting some John Coltrane.

Zappa 06-24-2005 03:23 PM

Ah, cool. The only reason I said that is cause a lot of people get KoB and stop, or they buy one or two related albums, and act like now they're into jazz and they're all set. It's incredibly sad when that happens.

Yeah...I feel like jazz is such a cool genre, you can't know it all with one album or artist. It's too broad.

One of his albums (Man-Child) was uploaded in Jazz/Funk YSI thread a few days ago.

Great album, I'd heard a bit about this guy but never heard any of his music - funky stuff (pun intended)

Oh, so you've never heard of Uncle Rico Jones?

Canadian-Guy 06-24-2005 04:32 PM
Oh, so you've never heard of Uncle Rico Jones?
I have now.

His music was all anyone ever needed to hear. Locals say he sold his soul to Satan, even Jazzmen did it, to make him magical.

pixiesfanyo 06-24-2005 04:58 PM

I'm so into jazz.
