Link? I wanna see. :-D

EDIT: Never mind, I read the 2nd quote in your post, Otherside. :p Very interesting to say the least. Where I am, it hardly ever rains, and the weather rarely changes, so if that happened to me, that would really be something freaky.

I wish it rained more around here. I love it when it rains, so that experience was really awesome. Yeah, just a weird coincidence though, that it happened to that other guy. For me, it didn't start thunderstorming, and it began as cloudy and overcast, so they're different in that sense.

I'm listening to Lateralus right now for the first time in about a month, and it really is refreshing.

Mr Herb 08-21-2005 08:35 PM

A month without laterlaus. . .wow

YouGottaBeCrazy 08-21-2005 08:40 PM
I was tripping balls while listening to Third Eye (live) last night. Freaky as hell.
Don't use the term tripping balls. Weirdos use that term.

Otherside 08-21-2005 08:41 PM

I'm on a Tool haitus as well. I'm happily satisfied with Dredg, Sigur Ros, The Arcade Fire, Radiohead, and The Mars Volta for now though.

Kage 08-21-2005 08:43 PM

I've been in that stage with Dredg, Porcupine Tree, Radiohead, and a whole host of Post Rock bands for the past month. Now, I'm ready to get back to some Tool, though.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-21-2005 08:51 PM

I listen to Tool at least once a week, because when I mow my lawn, I listen to Lateralus. It's almost as if the album is syncronized with my lawn, because Triad usually ends when I'm finished mowing my lawn. Wicked.

Kage 08-21-2005 08:54 PM

I'm going to start listening to Tool more now after my hiatus. But once the new album comes out, I'll listen to them nonstop for a while. That could be quite a ways away though.

I finally got a scrob. They're fun.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-21-2005 08:58 PM

My scrob is already extremely lopsided in Tool's favor, so it'll be scary to see what it's like when Elephtheria comes out.

I haven't been here in awhile, is that name official?

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-21-2005 09:15 PM

No, I just didn't want to say "the new Tool album due out sometime before Summer '06."

:upset: Turns out I had to anyways.

Heh your a lightweight.

Huber 08-21-2005 09:16 PM

My bad, I just didn't know if that news letter from BMB came out yet confirming that or something.

BlindWriting 08-21-2005 09:25 PM

As of yesterday it had been three weeks since I had last listened to Lateralus. Kept myself busy with Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Incubus, and At The Drive-In.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-21-2005 10:44 PM

I've been busy with Dredg, Porcupine Tree, Symphony X and Arcturus, but like I said, I still listen to Lateralus at least once a week. :-D It's been a while since I played some Jones on guitar though. I've been engulfed in Porcupine Tree songs. Today, I finished learning the solo to Sound of Muzak. It's fun to play, but it really sounds like crap with my weak amp. :upset:

Darkness 08-21-2005 11:09 PM

I want to listen to Lateralus so bad... :upset:

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-21-2005 11:22 PM

Did your friend set any guidelines on playing Tool songs on guitar? I could YSI you some Tool MIDI tabs.

I sort of finished a big PT binge. I'm really interested in getting either The Sky Moves Sideways or Voyage 34.
And yeah, The Sound of Muzak's got a fantastic solo in 7/4. Steve Wilson is such an underrated guitarist, but then again, PT is sort of a cult-type band here in America.

Don't tempt him, O Minion of Satan!!!!1!!eleven!!!111!

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-21-2005 11:27 PM

I find it hard to write a solo in 7, but playing it seems to come quite easy for me. It's probably because I've heard the song so many times, though.

Yeah, playing someone else's odd time solo is probably a great way of developing your own. My band is playing Halo for a gig, and the guitarist is learning that wonderfully manic Adrian Belew solo in 17/8.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-21-2005 11:39 PM

That solo is a great combination of Belew's odd, discordant style, and his technical ability as well. I like it. :) Too much for me to learn, though.

BlindWriting 08-21-2005 11:40 PM

Have you heard "Indiscipline" by King Crimson?
That's definitely another amazing showcase for his abilities.

I know of a good song by King Crimson called "Discipline." Is that what you meant? Or are they two seperate songs?

There's actually a song called Indiscipline from the same album.

I've not made it yet, but thats the idea im tinkering with.

You do know some of those tool fanboys are pretty big and mean though? Expect to be the focus of 'pit' action

PeEpHoLe_10 08-22-2005 06:36 AM

Haha yeah i was thinking of that before. Maybe i could just sit in the seats, lol. Do you think i shirt like the one you or I are thinking about wearing would get any kind of reaction from Maynard if spotted by him?

kurrpt 08-22-2005 06:38 AM

There should be an agreement with the crowd to all tap their watches when they come to the stage

MasterOfCeremonies 08-22-2005 07:58 AM

This is quite out of the blue, but I have a video of Eulogy live and in the beginning and random other parts Maynard is singing through something that I don't know what it is. I'm also wondering how he's making the noises at the beginning. Feel free to help or ignore, it's up to you.

kurrpt 08-22-2005 07:59 AM

its a megaphone i think
