Kreator has always been kind of a hit-or-miss for me. "Coma of Souls" is probably my favorite album by them.

Would take Sodom over Kreator any day tbh.
Me too, definitely.

pate 03-10-2008 01:36 PM

And me

RetiredAt21 03-10-2008 02:02 PM

I've been listening to In The Sign Of Evil a lot lately. Is that remake they did of it any good?

pate 03-10-2008 02:07 PM

Better than expected.

RetiredAt21 03-10-2008 02:07 PM

Hmm...I might check it out.

The Gates Of Heaven 03-10-2008 03:46 PM

RetiredAt21 you are a conservation killer.

Aronax 03-10-2008 08:01 PM

Haven't heard the remake of "In The Sign of Evil", probably won't either seeing as I love the original.

Been listening to healthy amounts of A.R.G., Disciples of Power, Turbo(POL), and Cyclone as of late. Tis good stuffz

Not having a go at you, just you often post stuff like 'hmm, might check that out' that just kills it haha.

Great choices. Am currently amassing Cyclone's discography - absolute killer. Do you like Protector, Inzest, Heritage etc?

FatalEnergy 03-10-2008 11:33 PM

Too bad Kreator's recent material has been as generic and shitty as can be

Grumma 03-11-2008 12:07 AM
The singer from Kreator really turns me off listening to them.
90% of Thrash singers turn me off the genre tbh
90% of Thrash singers turn me off the genre tbh
What is so bad about thrash vocals in particular to you?

Grumma 03-11-2008 02:07 AM

the fact that most of them take a "yell cos I can't actually sing" approach

The Gates Of Heaven 03-11-2008 04:53 AM

That's because thrash metal is more about the music than the vocals, and done correctly the vocals, despite still being terrible by technical standards add to the music.

I think you meant "conversation" :p

The Gates Of Heaven 03-11-2008 05:07 AM

Didn't I say that? Lolocaust

Shred Danson 03-11-2008 05:09 AM

"conservation"

>_>
Great choices. Am currently amassing Cyclone's discography - absolute killer. Do you like Protector, Inzest, Heritage etc?
Protector is top quality raw death/thrash, I love em.
Haven't heard Inzest or Heritage though, so I will give em a good around.
the fact that most of them take a "yell cos I can't actually sing" approach
You have to remember the context of the music, having somebody like Kelly Carpenter (ex-Outworld) do vocals for Mobid Saint's Spectrum of Death would have sounded horrible, despite Kelly being one of the best metal vocalists I have heard. His vocals would not fit with the music at all. Nearly all of the thrash I have heard, agressive vocals are the only thing that fit with the music and actually add to it.

south_of_heaven 11 03-11-2008 01:04 PM

Protector's "A Shredding of Skin" is just...brutal \m/

Tyr 03-11-2008 02:48 PM

I just realised I don't have the song Nailed Casket from Municipal Waste's album Hazardous Mutation. Could someone please send it to me?

b.moren@gmail.com

Thanks.
Coliseum is pretty ill
Agreed.

Steeltower too, if you like NWOBHM (although Steeltower are obviously from Germany, they have a very similar style)

I'm not sure how hard they'll be to find but on soulseek I am 'Desexult' and will happily share what I have

I'm also looking for Shooting Gallery, another band related to Protector
Protector's "A Shredding of Skin" is just...brutal \m/
You should try their earlier stuff, specifically the Misanthropy EP, the Golem LP, their first demo and perhaps even the Death Attack (preProtector) rehearsal if you can get past the production

i am the robots 03-12-2008 12:12 AM
Agreed.
The Gates Of Heaven 03-12-2008 03:36 AM

I have nothing much against it posting un-seriously but if every single post you post is not serious then you are ****in annoying me. Keep in mind for your response that I just about ONLY ever go to this thread and the Black Metal thread.
That's because thrash metal is more about the music than the vocals, and done correctly the vocals, despite still being terrible by technical standards add to the music.
I still don't like the vocals regardless of what they add to the music, just like I don't like death growl even though they too add to the music (supposedly)

The Gates Of Heaven 03-12-2008 04:51 AM
I still don't like the vocals regardless of what they add to the music, just like I don't like death growl even though they too add to the music (supposedly)
OK. Read the other part of my post where I said, basically, that the vocalists and bands don't care. Thrash metal's obviously not for you. Don't post here then

Grumma 03-12-2008 05:06 AM

I never said I don't like the music - just not overly fond the vocalists within the genre as a general rule
