I think a lot of the bands mentioned by the threadstarter in this thread

http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=269299

should be close to what you're looking for.

thunder 05-09-2005 09:28 PM

Where can I find The Rolling Stone's and The Who's discography??? I can't find 'em.

Is that directed at me? Either way, I'll check them out.

Mind Revolution 05-09-2005 11:00 PM

can someone reccomend me some manowar songs

thunder 05-10-2005 12:57 AM
Try http://www.amazon.com and just search for those bands. Otherwise, just look at the official band website.. they usually have a section named discography.
They don't though, thats the thing.

Bartender 05-10-2005 08:16 AM
Is that directed at me? Either way, I'll check them out.
Yeah, that was for you. Pay attention to more or less anything Give Me Beer recommends; unless he specifically states that it's not, then it's likely to be stoner rock in the vein you seem to be looking for.
Battle Hymns (sometimes Battle Hymn)
Brothers of Metal
Kings of Metal
The Gods Made Heavy Metal
Hail and Kill
Death Tone
Manowar
Revelation (Death's Angel)

3rdplanet 05-10-2005 08:24 AM

I bought Battle Hymns today for 4 pounds \m/

/off-topic

For Man-O-War check out Hand of Doom, one of my fave songs by them.

Bartender 05-10-2005 08:33 AM
If you could, at some point, upload Sky Babies and the extended version of I Wanna Go, I'd be very grateful. :)
Here you go;

Nicely done. Like it?

3rdplanet 05-10-2005 09:01 AM
Nicely done. Like it?
It's a lot different to the other stuff I have heard by them (and am used to) but it is decent...not fantastic. Some really good moments.

evilmenhavenosongs 05-10-2005 12:15 PM
I have a feeling that this should go in Other Music but we all know how much traffic that place gets.

I've been looking into Industrial, Darkwave, EBM etc. but I'm fairly new to it for the most part because there's just so much to get through basically.

At the moment I have some bands that I suspect from reveiws and stuff are good but I either can't get a hold of anything by them or I'm not sure of which album to get etc.

Faetal
Code 64
The Retrosic
Pain
Neuroticfish
Children On Stun
Hanzel Und Gretyl
Juno Reactor
Dulce Liquido
My Sixth Shadow
NIMP

I'm not sure if this is strictly allowed in the thread but what the hell. Which are worth following up and which just suck? Any other suggestions? Also, which Wumpscut album to get? I hear they vary in quality quite a lot. And are Audrey Horne worth investigating?
I feel terribly impolite quoting myself again but I'm just waiting till somebody who knows anything comes along. I managed to get some Dulce Liquido and Juno Reactor on Soulseek so that's a thumbs up. :)

Bartender 05-10-2005 12:38 PM

I would help but I don't know any of those artists. You could make a thread in Other music. It does get less traffic than other forums, but far from none, and I think you'd have more luck there. More chance of people able to help seeing it, anyway.
Thanks :)
Hope you like them.

evilmenhavenosongs 05-10-2005 12:41 PM

I shall try that I think. Do Industrial go under R&M? That was always a grey area to me I dunno.

I apologise for seeming rude and "you don't know anything about music" and stuff. :)

Bartender 05-10-2005 12:43 PM

Well, industrial is a weird genre; some of it can fit under R&M, but that's more industrial metal (the blend of two genres). Lots of it fist best under Other, I'd think.

evilmenhavenosongs 05-10-2005 12:53 PM

So you could say stuff like NIN would fit into R&M but you have to put stuff like KMDFM under Other. Based on a band by band basis. Righto. Thanks for clearing that up.

(I have juice in my keyboard :()

I have some Hanzel Und Gretyl, if you don't mind them being in m4a.

evilmenhavenosongs 05-10-2005 01:07 PM

Awesome. I think I can play m4a. Hopefully. Do you have msn or AIM? I'll need to stop avoiding talking to people.

Shattered_Future 05-10-2005 01:15 PM

^ Heh.

Ill just upload them on here...if im allowed to...
Watch this post.

EDIT: Hanzel Und Gretyl - Burning Bush

you got lucky...it was in mp3.
However, i ripped it off an internet radio station...so the beginning and ending may have fadeouts of other songs.

Its still the whole song though.

evilmenhavenosongs 05-10-2005 01:29 PM

Ooooh. I like it. :) Even though I don't like Germans but don't tell them that. Thank you.

Brothers In Metal has to be my favourite Manowar song in reference to earlier conversations.

Clean Vocals:
Blind Guardian
Iced Earth
Rhapsody
Edguy
Sonata Arctica
Dragonforce
Hammerfall
Helloween

Harsh Vocals:
Children Of Bodom (on Follow the Reaper and earlier)
Norther
Imperanon
Skyfire (a bit more symphonic, but the power roots are there)
Wintersun (same general style, but with more folk elements)

Follow the Reaper is probably your best bet.

Does anyone know what Dream Theatre Cd I should get? I've been thinking of getting train of thought.

3rdplanet 05-14-2005 07:53 PM

ToT is as good a place to start with DT as any of their other albums.
