The concert I went to a few weeks ago was amazing. I loved the South Park intro to Tom Sawyer and Im glad they played Passage to Bangkok. That was the first Rush song I heard.
|
snakes and arrows is really growing on me. up there with their best for me
|
I think I'm going to pick up Rush in Rio today.
|
Rush is possibly my all time favorite band, I like the 80's Rush music the best.

One of the best live DVD's I own. It was definitely worth the $30. |
I saw them on Monday in San Diego. I went with my girlfriend and we both loved it. It was both of our's first concert, which makes it even better. The setlist was great; we hadn't heard a few of the songs and it was cool to hear the classics live. I can't believe the energy they have too! They all seemed really happy to be there and they seemed to be having a great time. The crowd was great too. "Far Cry" is so good live too; I definetely need to get the new album.
|
Okay I'm a Rush n00b but I just bought 2112, and it is fricken amazing. Beyond belief. The title track (more like epic opera) is fantastic, and my two favorite of the remaining tracks is the Bangkok one and the Twilight Zone.
These guys are amazing beyond existence. And I think Geddy Lee's vocals rock on this album. Why do people not like it? |

Cool, I was there as well. I was disappointed with the setlist but they played a few of my favorites too. |

I was hoping someone on here was at that same one too. Did you see Neil Peart kinda half smile at one time? I can't remember when, but that alone was worth the ticket price and gas lol.
Why do people not like it?
The only thing I can think of is that some people's brains aren't advanced enough to accept the ultimate coolness that is 2112. Also, if you like 2112 so much, I highly recommend you find a copy of Hemispheres. In my opinion, Cygnus is equal to, if not better than, 2112. |
Actually, I was referring to why people don't like Geddy's vocals :P
Anyways, Hemispheres, eh? Thanks. I'll put it on my list. |
Ahhh.. Rush... I band I once could not stand but now have come to love. All three members supremely talented, but what's to say when its already been discussed...
Seafroggys, I think people dont really like Geddy's vocals because of the nature that he sound really whiney and high (in the 70s at least.) I've ran into alot of people like that, as how they dig the instrumentation but cant stand the vocals. And as a side note, I'd recommend A Farewell To Kings as an add on to your list. Xanadu and the first book of Cygnus are worth it :) And hopefully I'm going to see these guys in Detroit in three weeks... |
I've only heard Xanadu on Stage Left, and its really really good. How is it compared to the album version?
|

Haha, now that you mention it, I think I remember that too. It was during the drum solo I think. |

I just listened to the Exit Stage Left version, and I think it lacks some punch compared to the studio recording. It's still good, but it's lacking a bit of presence, if you will. Just my opinion, I dunno what everyone else thinks. |
saw them in Raleigh a few weeks ago. it was excellent.
|
Rush is for losers.
but i like them. |

its true. |
I Stand Atop A Spiral Stair!
|
I heard Rush won #1 guilty pleasure on some lame poll. They even beat out Journey.

An Oracle Confronts Me There! |

I'm surprised ABBA wasn't #1. |

Does anyone know what the song "Tears" (by Rush of course) is about ?
What is the exact meaning of the song ? |

|
Those are just personal thoughts about the meaning of the song, right ?
I was wondering what the exact meaning is... I guess only the guys from Rush know the answer :) Thanks anyway  |
Man, I saw Rush in Detroit in August... it kicked ass. I was surprised that they played Circumstances, Passage to Bangkok (Geddy played the Ric), Digital Man, and Subdivisions. I loved Neil's drum solo, it seems like he re-did a lot of it. Anyone else see them on this tour?
|
I missed Rush, I wanted to go so bad but I spent all my money on cd's instead.
|
Rush is only a guilty pleasure if you suck ***. I would proclaim my love for Rush very loudly in a crowded place.

So would I, I dont see how Rush could be a guilty pleasure when they are so great. |
As for guilty pleasure, that would be Abba. Man those guys rock, but its not something you can admit out in the open.
Yeah I'm becoming more of a Rush fan daily. I don't know how often I just randomly sing "We are the priests of the temple of Syrinx!" Such an amazing song/album. |
Yeah 2112 is amazing.
|
Meh, it's very "progressive". I've heard much better albums in the same context.
|
What's wrong with progressive?
|
Nothing at all wrong with it. It's just very easily catagorized. Which to me means that they are not unique, or "special". They are just solid.
|
I don't know, I think 2112 stands out to me as being unique.
|
2112 just stands out for me as nigh unlistenable. Geddy's voice gets too irritating even for me. And that's bloody hard to do.
|
I think he sounds best on 2112! I hated his voice, but it grew on me. It's an acquired taste, like beer or wine.
|

Yeah Geddy's voice is an acquired taste, I actually thought He was a woman the first few times I heard Rush. |
I've seen Rush live 7 times.
I saw them when hardly anyone else knew who they were and they were still playing 2000 seat arenas. My band was playing 'The Spirit of Radio' and 'Limelight' when they were still new songs on the radio. And they all still had long hair and were in their 20's. Yep, I'm THAT old. Very few bands can touch them live musically and there's hardly a band out there anywhere that has that much collective musical talent in their members. :thumb: |
