Modern Recording Techniques
Sixth Edition
David Miles Huber & Robert E. Runstein

Anyone here ever read it? I just purchased it and so far its gold.

Trigger_003 12-27-2005 01:30 AM

Not me.
I haven't started reading it yet :p.
Now THAT is dedication.

EDIT: /takes out some text
hah, I just saw the thread was really old so it doesn't matter.

So what's happening today/night?

Diatonic Dissonance™ 12-27-2005 06:05 PM

Eh, English is one of my bludge classes.

I have to learn a whole years worth of Legal Studies in these holidays.

Trigger_003 12-27-2005 06:21 PM

Alright. I'm doing a class that's like a mix of linguistics and English next year... it should be pretty interesting. Looks way better than plain old mainstream type English.

Are you taking a 3/4 without any background? Have fun with that.
You taking any others 3/4s? Can't remember if you actually ended up telling me your confirmed subjects for next year.

Diatonic Dissonance™ 12-27-2005 06:38 PM

At our school you're only allowed to do one 3/4 subject in year 11 :upset:. Otherwise I would've been doing Further Maths 3/4 and Group Performance 3/4, :(.

I'm doing chemistry, physics, legal studies 3/4, maths methods, music performance and English.

So is your class like English Lit?

Trigger_003 12-27-2005 07:10 PM

Are you serious! Man that sucks.

Methods, physics, music performance, IPM (3/4), Italian and English/Linguistics for me.

Nah way. It's a weird set up.
1st semester we do a comprimised 2 units of linguistics (a/k/a English Language) which is a study of how we talk, how language influences people/develops continually/etc., all that kind of stuff. Then second semester we do a comprimised 2 units of your normal English - but we only do the one novel, MacBeth, instead of the three.
So we're kinda doing two classes as one. Then we choose either English or linguistics for year 12.

kevbud187 12-27-2005 07:11 PM

anyone else in here in a marching band/corps? anyone? no? ugh that sucks

Trigger_003 12-27-2005 07:15 PM

Where'd you get a no from?

How about you Gav... going to try get a band together again or...?

Diatonic Dissonance™ 12-27-2005 07:56 PM

I want to march in drumcorps(Phantom Regiment)(if i make it).

kevbud187 12-28-2005 04:52 AM

WTF? why did you yet another username? Did you really get banned?

Tiadonic Nissodance 12-28-2005 04:53 AM

Yah, I did.

kevbud187 12-28-2005 04:55 AM

Tiadonic Nissodance 12-28-2005 04:56 AM

Haha take care man.

Trigger_003 12-28-2005 04:07 PM

Heya Kevin . I'm Trea if you hadn't caught on

Haha I've been outdone! I'm in a concert band, stage band, the Aussie Youth Band (which is pretty awesome because we go international and do a whole heap of big events - this is the one I'm going to need to march in), and then there's my own which plays chicken picken country death metal orchestral norwegian uber symphonic balkan...
<_<
Nah, but we do rock, latin/flamenco/other world music, jazz, acoustic, metal, some pop covers, etc. I don't think we've decided what genre we'll be yet :p.

So what instruments do you play? I remember you saying you cover quite a large range.

I asked in another thread but meh; Gav, why the ban?

Aes820 12-28-2005 06:44 PM
I asked in another thread but meh; Gav, why the ban?
He was being a goose. :)

I banned him along with about 15 others for various mischiefs in the guitar forum. It was only a light ban tho. Maybe just a day or two.

Tiadonic Nissodance 12-28-2005 07:21 PM

It's up in three hours, :thumb:

kevbud187 12-28-2005 10:43 PM

so Gav, are we ever gunna here from TN again or just DD?

Anyways Trea. I just listed the classical groups that I'm accosiated with just at my school. lol. I'm in the all Southern California District Honor Band and some other small quints and quarts.
Okay now for the list(I will list in order of skill from greatest to least)
HERE WE GO lol

Bass Clarinet, Clarinet, Guitar, Baritone Horn, Snare Drum, Trumpet, Tenor Sax, Cello, Bari Sax, Drum Set, Standup Bass, Euphonium, Alto Sax, Tuba, Bass Guitar, Trobonium, Flute, Oboe, Marching Bass Drum, Piano, Viola, French Horn, Trombone, Picillo, Bugle, Contra, Mellophone, Basson, Violin, Marimba(and other similar keyed instruments), Quints(Tenors[they are drums][like marching tom-toms]), Miraphone.......oh god what else. I can't think of stuff......um........triangle?......there's more I know it!

Ya and if they make a contra/double bass version of it I play that too. LOL

Questions comments concerns on any of those just ask me.

Trigger_003 12-28-2005 10:51 PM

"concerns" :lol:

Man, that's fully sick (that's a good thing)! How much experience do you have with say... well let's take your best, bass clari?

And, lol, do you actually own all these...?
/Would hate/love to see your 'music room'

What does everyone think about the other instruments forum (how long has that been around anyway - I just found it today)? I think it'll take even more people away from here unfortunately, and I know a lot of the keys players/pianists weren't too happy about it...

kevbud187 12-28-2005 11:10 PM

no I only own a guitar, drum set, and clarinet.

I'm pretty good at Bass Clarinet, about 4yrs on it now. I'm the best at my school so I guess I'm okay.

Trigger_003 12-28-2005 11:14 PM

K cool :).

kevbud187 12-28-2005 11:34 PM

you are a trombone player I remember, you asked about a dip. So hows that working out for you?

Trigger_003 12-28-2005 11:56 PM

Oh yeah, that was pretty easy to get down actually :)

I've been playing around with improving my tonguing speed n all that kind of stuff lately... good times.

What's been happening over there?

Diatonic Dissonance™ 12-29-2005 01:17 AM
so Gav, are we ever gunna here from TN again or just DD?
Haha, you'll hear from TN next time I get banned, :p.

That's quite an array of instruments you have there. :thumb:

kevbud187 12-29-2005 01:34 PM

ya I have lots of free time in the band room. esp when you have keys......

Trigger_003 12-29-2005 02:15 PM

Hehe, sweet as.

I have access to the keys (my dad teaches at my school) but there's nothing worth going in there for really. Most schools around here don't seem to have an extensive range of instruments :(.

kevbud187 12-29-2005 04:10 PM

our scool is about 30yrs old so we have a bunch of stuff in fairly good ocndition laying around in storage. Ohh how fun it is to do absolutely nothing during class except snoop around in the music library or instrument closet.

Trigger_003 12-29-2005 07:34 PM

*cries*

Man I'm stuffed. I've been working out in the heat again... with my dog

who has been falling asleep right where I'm attempting to pour concrete. It's great fun!

kevbud187 12-29-2005 11:46 PM

One of Chris's tips for keeping cool this summer:

1. Take one Terry Toweling hat.
2. Soak in cold water.
3. Place in freezer compartment of refridgerator.
4. Wait an hour or so.
5. Remove from freezer and place on head.

Good stuff! :thumb:

Ryan's tip: :chug: (Exchange beer with ice cold lemonade/soothing beverage)

Trigger_003 12-30-2005 12:49 AM

Hehe, or just get a pool ;)
It's awesomely hot here. And it's 42C tomorrow - heck yeah! Might have to use Chris' tip :)

Btw Chris, what's happening with the fires up there? They're not any danger to you are they?

I just had a good idea for a composition... I might use it in that challenge thing.

Haha, Kev, I'm not sposed to distribute my pic over the net...

Diatonic Dissonance™ 12-30-2005 01:59 AM

Yeah, Trea can't show anyone her picture :shift:.

My gym is air conditioned so it's all good working out in the heat.

I swam today, did you Trea?

Sup?

Aes820 12-30-2005 03:30 AM

The fires where I am arn't too bad.
Some young kids were out smoking some darbs near the old brickworks and accidentally lit a grass fire. The dry weather and the hot winds blew it straight into a townhouse complex and burnt down a couple of them.

Nothing like the fires we had back in 2003.

When it is looking like this at about 3pm on a Saturday afternoon then you know you'll be in for an interesting evening.

That photo looks like it was taken at the base of Mount Taylor. The corner of Sulwood drive and Inkster Street, looking West.
An hour or so later and you would not have wanted to be standing there.

I'll be off heading down the coast early tomorrow.
So I hope everyone has a good new years.

What ARE you talking about?
<_<

>_>

>_<

You bet. I've just stayed in my bathers all day and just jumped in and out of the pool

That's good Chris.
Yeah, wouldn't want a repeat of those fires in 03. They went for 50 days or something... we did some work on it in my firefighting class last year (yes my school has a firefighting elective... we got to mud wrestle on the camp, it was great fun :D).

You have a good NYE too mate. You more than deserve it :chug:.
