His bass in Something is fantastic.
I definitely agree. I like the bass in Michelle too. It just fits so perfectly. And I also agree with whoever said MMT>SPLHCB. MMT and Rubber Soul are my current favorites.

Walrus Gumboot 02-19-2005 03:26 PM
Paul McCartney does have great basslines, not too difficult, but very creative.
Exactly, I can play Something, but I couldn't have made it up. By any means.

I totally agree. His bass licks are addicting.
I personally love the on in "Hello, Goodbye".

Seafroggys 02-19-2005 07:45 PM

Paul's best bass line is probably Rain, and I also love the slides on Dear Prudance.

Captain Jack Sparrow 02-19-2005 07:50 PM

I'm listening to "A Day In The Life" as we speak. Great song. My favorite Beatles album is by far Sgt. Pepper & The Lonely Hearts Club Band, followed by Help! and Revolver.

Woodstock 02-19-2005 07:57 PM

Yep, it's a great song.

Walrus Gumboot 02-19-2005 08:00 PM
Paul's best bass line is probably Rain, and I also love the slides on Dear Prudance.
I love rain, I just heard it for the first time last month. Its the first whole bass line (besides bluegrass, heh) that I figured out on my own, last Thursday. I was so proud of myself I can't even say. Maybe I should tab it :ponders:

Seafroggys 02-19-2005 08:24 PM

Rain is easily the most underrated Beatle song....its not on any of the original albums (it was the B-side to Paperback Writer) and since it didn't hit #1, its rarer and thus not a lot of people would get a chance to hear it (its on Past Masters). I was lucky to hear it early in my Beatles career, and I absolutly love it.

Walrus Gumboot 02-20-2005 01:10 PM

Its like a forgoten gem in the attic of Beatles songs, another great aong on the old "Hey Jude" album that never got brought to attention. It sounds like it was snipped off of Revolver

Walrus Gumboot 02-21-2005 03:44 PM

Where is everyone?

Any news on that tour?

Seafroggys 02-21-2005 10:12 PM

It seems like we're the regular posters in this thread. Shame.

Does anyone else have the Complete Scores? I bought it like five years ago, such a great book. Perfect for any cover band!

clown_phobia 02-22-2005 01:23 AM

I think the record label screwed themselved up by not putting a lot of the beatles' singles on albums.
These days you can't get the original singles (or at least it's hard to) so many people won't hear/buy those songs.
They may have sold well orignally, but they don't anymore.

Walrus Gumboot 02-22-2005 07:20 AM

I am seriously considering buying the complete scores, I could use the trombone music if any :D

Its kind of nice sometimes when there are singles that didn't quite make it on CD. Its such a nice surprise to find them

TerryThorne 02-22-2005 08:46 PM

Part two of she came in through the bathroom window has some great basslineage!

Woodstock 02-22-2005 08:47 PM

Who here thinks Helter Skelter is a great song. Now one of my favorite Beatles songs.

TerryThorne 02-22-2005 08:49 PM

I love it. Pretty intense, probably my favorite song on the second white album disc.

Woodstock 02-22-2005 08:49 PM

I think Yer Blues rivals it.

pigonthewing82 02-22-2005 08:59 PM
Who here thinks Helter Skelter is a great song. Now one of my favorite Beatles songs.
Thats probally my favorite Beatles song right now (it changes every now and then). Its just so creative.

TerryThorne 02-22-2005 09:01 PM
I think Yer Blues rivals it.
It sure does, and Sexy Sadie is pretty good too. However, I don't listen to that disc as much as the first one

pigonthewing82 02-22-2005 09:18 PM

The more I think about it, the more I think that the White Album is probally the best rock album of all time. Hardly any band escapes its influences. And.....well its just amazing.

Seafroggys 02-22-2005 10:46 PM

Sexy Sadie is such a good song. The outtro is a great piece of music.

Btw, the Complete Scores won't have trombone music. It will give you the music in the original instruments of the song, which you could rearrange as trombone music if you wish.

PinkFreud 02-22-2005 10:56 PM
If we're talking about addictive basslines, the one in Lady Madonna is absolutely great as well...it complements the keyboard part to absolute perfection. I'd say that's probably one of their most "fun" songs to listen to normally.
his bass in i want you (she's so heavy) is awesome. solid and then he busts out the fills. crazy. rain/ taxman (pretty much the same) are good too.

Woodstock 02-23-2005 04:31 PM

Sexy Sadie is great. Ah, all the songs on the White album are great.

pigonthewing82 02-23-2005 04:33 PM
Sexy Sadie is great. Ah, all the songs on the White album are great.
Yea I find more often then not my favorite Beatles song (whitch changes day to day) comes from the white album, well or a single from the white album (Revolution, the fast one)

DeusExMachina 02-23-2005 04:38 PM

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't posted in so long. I was away on a trip. It was most excellent.

Anyways, The White Album. Not a huge fan of it. It's good, but I'd say Rubber Soul, Sgt. Peppers, Revolver, Abbey Road, and MMT are all superior.

Yea somtimes I get to thinking Abbey Road or MMT are better, but then I listen to Helter Skelter(sp?) or Revolution and that it becomes my favorite again. :thumb:

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 02-23-2005 05:12 PM

I've been gone for a while, but I'm back!

Anyways, I love the White Album, but I like Rubber Soul, Abbey Road, and MMT a little more. I had a fellow guitarist over on the weekend and I made him listen to Helter Skelter for the first time. I think he liked it, but he didn't really react how I did when I first heard it.:( Favorite songs from White Album: Revolution 1(fast and slow), Helter Skelter, Rocky Raccoon, Don't Pass Me By, Happiness Is A Warm Gun, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, and Yer Blues (not in that order).:)

Seafroggys 02-24-2005 12:22 AM

Favorite White Album Songs (favorite changes day to day):

Dear Prudance, Continuing Story of BUngalow Bill, Happiness is a Warm Gun, I'm so Tired, Birthday, Yer Blues, Everybody's Got Something to Hide Cept for me and My Monkey, Sexy Sadie, Helter Skelter, Savoy Truffle

DeusExMachina 02-24-2005 11:06 AM

Favorite songs off the White Album:

Dear Prudence, Julia, Happiness is a Warm Gun, Blackbird, While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

There are probably more, but those are the ones that come to mind immediately.

pigonthewing82 02-24-2005 11:09 AM

My favorite songs off the white album are........the white album

DeusExMachina 02-24-2005 11:17 AM

How delightfully vague.

pigonthewing82 02-24-2005 11:18 AM

I try :thumb:

DeusExMachina 02-24-2005 11:20 AM

Excellent. So, this Beatallica thing, I've heard of them, never heard their stuff. They worth checking out?

Woodstock 02-24-2005 02:20 PM
Excellent. So, this Beatallica thing, I've heard of them, never heard their stuff. They worth checking out?
Most likely not. Some music is just not supposed to be mixed.

gmoneyguy 02-24-2005 03:40 PM

Beatallica is really cool.

DeusExMachina 02-24-2005 04:59 PM

Hmm... I may have to check them out then.

Walrus Gumboot 02-24-2005 06:20 PM
