i dont know that many songs by them. but i heard peace sells. it sounds really good. can anyone reccomend an album?

Arise II 02-22-2005 08:51 PM
Dissappointed in Countdown? Really?
It is possible, I had the same problem when I first listened to it. After a while, it did grow on me. I think its main problem (apart from the slick, over-produced sound that most Megadeth albums past RIP suffered from) is that it has some seriously bad/filler songs on it.

Of course, it still has Countdown, Skin, Architecture, Symphony and Forclosure \m/

BTW, does anyone know why Sloas and the other guys from TSHF isn't touring with the band now?

MAthiAS 02-22-2005 11:06 PM

Filler, on Countdown? I'd say there's no filler on it... But that's just my opinion.
BTW, does anyone know why Sloas and the other guys from TSHF isn't touring with the band now?
Caualita or something like that, the drummer? I really don't know, but the touring lineup is really good right now I'd say, its a shame Menza had to bail.

vashts80 02-23-2005 01:28 AM

Vinnie Colaiuta...I think he was the drummer for Sting as well, was he not?

I also think the lineup for the tour is good now...although, a RIP lineup return (- Ellefson, + MacDonough) would be awesome...Marty, Nick, Dave, James...:O...however, Glenn and Shawn are filling in nicely for Chris/Marty/Al and Gar/Nick...James > Juniour, IMO. Although, Juniour did write all the lines James is playing.

I just hope that Dave's solo career has this lineup for it. They work well together IMO.

Yeah, although, I don't know if I'll ever be able to forgive Shawn for ****ing up the final solo in Holy Wars when they were playing live... Grrrrrrr!

Arise II 02-23-2005 12:59 PM
When I saw them live I didnt notice any solos messed up
Yeah, well, can't get it right all the time

MAthiAS 02-23-2005 01:31 PM

Glen played the solos all perfectly the same as Marty except for the clean solo in Holy Wars. IMO, Glen > Pitrelli, but Poland and Marty would both be better. I'd like to see Poland in the studio on Dave's solo albums, but that'd kind of be unfair to Glen.

willis2441 02-23-2005 05:05 PM

no one likes to stay in the band for very long because mustaine is a dope addict,i mean hes very talented at guitar though

willis2441 02-23-2005 05:14 PM
Hes clean now I think, and hasnt he found God?
maybe, but i kno thats why jimmy del grasso left the band.

vashts80 02-23-2005 05:50 PM

Jimmy left the band because Mustaine got mad at his wife for her calling Mustaine a dopehead or an acaholic or something over the phone, IIRC.

well it had something to do with drugs,i kno that much 4 sure

whatduffhuck7 02-23-2005 07:44 PM

im listening to countdown to extinction right now and that and criptic wrightings are 2 of there best i think. cryptic wrightings isnt as 'metal' as the others but still good.

whatduffhuck7 02-23-2005 07:51 PM

anybody else think he sounds a bit like alice cooper in the song sweating bullets on countdown?

acefrehleyjendell 02-23-2005 07:54 PM
anybody else think he sounds a bit like alice cooper in the song sweating bullets on countdown?
Yes, i have thought that for years. He was really influenced by Alice early on,
and around the time of CTE, Megadeth covered No more mr nice guy on an Alice tribute album

2nd_striker 02-23-2005 07:56 PM

yeah musatine is clean and has found god, but hes disbanding the band after this summer

willis2441 02-23-2005 08:42 PM
yeah musatine is clean and has found god, but hes disbanding the band after this summer
why???????????????????????????????

acefrehleyjendell 02-23-2005 08:59 PM
yeah musatine is clean and has found god, but hes disbanding the band after this summer
He isn't disbanding Megadeth because he found God.
Megadeth are not the slightest bit Satanic.
He is disbanding it because the last record was supposed to be
a solo project and he was told he Had to deliver another
Megadeth album.

MAthiAS 02-23-2005 09:06 PM

Around when did Mustaine become clean? I remember reading something he said like "On Killing Is My Business, we got $8000 to do the record, so cut that in half for dope, and thats why the production was poor."

Sucks he's disbanding, but hey, Mustaine IS Megadeth, he's always written pretty much everything, so his solo stuff should be good.

Yes i agree, seeing as 'The system has failed' was supposed to be a solo
album.

Maybe once he gets a full on solo career we can expect a return to the old school style.

I believe he came clean around CTE, but relapsed (A Tout Le Monde, written about his relapse from a Valium overdose)...he found God after Risk/before TWNAH, I believe.

He was in rehab in 2002, Thats when he injured his arm.

vashts80 02-23-2005 10:09 PM

I understand that, but he found God before TWNAH was released.

Doubt it, he's older, sober, and Christian now. He's still Dave, but he's a lot less angry at the world.

drumbumman 02-23-2005 11:47 PM

MAthiAS 02-24-2005 12:09 AM

Anyway, She Wolf is now one of my favorite Deth songs. So... catchy... can't... stop...

One look in her lusting eyes
Savage fear in you will rise
Teeth of terror sinking in
The bite of the she-wolf

Yeh I like it a lot too, but IMO there's better stuff off of CW, Like Mastermind

Po0sH 02-24-2005 03:36 AM

Wow im listening to the demo version of Symphony of destruction, for those of you that have the remaster, and i must say, i like this version better, if he cut down on the usage of the the main riff. LIke he plays it for 4 measures before he goes into each verse, if he cut down on that, this version would sound better IMO.

I thought it was a bit better as well. I actually liked the excessive pre-verse riffing.

You guys should check outthe comments section on Friedman's site. Apparrently, a lot of the songs on CTE, and a few off of RIP were supposed to be a whole lot longer (Hangar 18, Symphony and Architecture)

Not according to the articles i've read recently lol.
He was going on about how Junior has been a preofessional *** licker
for his whole career.

Thats the part about "still being Dave"

lol yeah i agree with him but, he didn't even play or write a note on TSHF
and he wanted how much?

KILO5203 02-25-2005 08:22 AM

i just recently got into megadeth. i thought there was none better than metallica, but ive come to like them just as much. most of deth's stuff is a bit harder to play though.

Bon_Scottie 02-25-2005 08:32 AM

I only found out and Megadeth a few months back.

They have many great songs. Actually, I plan on getting some more. I only have around ten, and all of them are great. My favourites out of the songs I do have is Back in the Day.

Any tunes I should be looking out for by Megadeth?

KILO5203 02-25-2005 09:00 AM

i dont yet know of all the good ones but my favorites right now are trust, countdown to extinction, hangar 18, tornado of souls, holy wars, ashes in your mouth, she wolf, mechanix, tout le monde, angry again, and some others. that would be some good ones to start on.

KILO5203 02-25-2005 09:58 AM

yeah that album is awesome. dawn patrol's kinda weird but its alright i guess.

IAJP 02-25-2005 10:02 AM

Quick question:
In terms of technicality:
Friedman or Poland?

munky_magik 02-25-2005 10:03 AM

I would say Friedman.

IAJP 02-25-2005 10:17 AM

I prefer Friedman, Poland is a great guitarist too.
I should be getting some 'Deth albums tommorow,
I have RIP and Peace Sells, what would you say?
Plus, I'll list my favourite songs off RIP in a minute.
