I've always just called them grind.

I've heard the term 'White Belt Grind' thrown around a lot though.

RetiredAt21 01-02-2006 10:06 PM

Yeah, I'd call them white belt grind.

Subvert_bassist 01-03-2006 12:22 AM

Subvert_bassist 01-03-2006 01:18 AM

I can only make the Friday one, but I know it'll be sick.

By the way man, I never saw you on New Years. It's a shame; I wanted to chill.

clustifux 01-03-2006 02:41 AM

i got there after you and klinefelter played.....I talked to your drummer to find an after party, but we lost you dudes. You guys ended up in Ione?

Subvert_bassist 01-03-2006 02:51 AM

Yeah, with a bunch of kids from around there. Do the names Lynn, Cassey, Briten, Chris, or Michelle ring any bells?

clustifux 01-03-2006 02:59 AM

Not at all....I didnt even know there wer any punks in ione. I over herad someone saying they just moved up here.

P.S. You got any I.M. program? Itd be easier than spamming the thread with our b.s.

Subvert_bassist 01-03-2006 02:45 PM

No, I don't, except for slsk. You could drop me a message there. s/n: Snaker

RetiredAt21 01-03-2006 07:19 PM

Just a random question, do you guys prefer crust or grind? At the moment, I'm kind of torn between both.

Gnarmageddon 01-03-2006 08:32 PM

Grind > Crust

I haven't been exposed to much crust, but what I've heard is meh. Warcollapse are sweet though.

whiteminority 01-03-2006 08:36 PM

Both are fucking killer, but grind is the superior music form by fucking far as shit.

Brain Toad 01-03-2006 08:39 PM

I prefer grind over crust, because I dont listen to that much crust and out of the bands I have listened to, I've liked far less then the percentage of grind bands.

Subvert_bassist 01-03-2006 08:58 PM

I have a much larger knowledge of crust and I'm in a more crusty band, but I prefer grind. That's why I'm throwing growls into and attempting to speed up our music. It's turing into a mix of grind, thrash, sludge, and hardcore that's incredibly unique, I think.

I also think sludge beats both grind and crust, hands down.

DaveToopes 01-03-2006 10:27 PM

What exactly is sludge?

Subvert_bassist 01-03-2006 11:12 PM

Slower melodic crustist music. Bands like Tragedy, His Hero Is Gone, and Dystopia.

Feel The Darkness 01-03-2006 11:51 PM

I prefer crust.

Scabies 01-04-2006 09:09 AM

Yeah, sludge gets really boring after a while, especially the super slow bands like Iron Monkey

Gnarmageddon 01-04-2006 09:26 AM

A lot of crust bands also sound exactly the same in most of their songs.
Both are fucking killer, but grind is the superior music form by fucking far as shit.
That made me laugh really hard for some reason.

AIRIC 01-04-2006 09:59 AM

Tragedy are amazing.

Edit: Dropdead are amazing, too.

Subvert_bassist 01-04-2006 10:57 AM

They really are. I'm wearing a Tragedy shirt as I type this.

Anyone like Assembly of God? Actually, dumb question; I'm sure anyone who's heard them likes them. I've just been into them recently, even though I think they only ever recorded one 7".

Also, anyone like Crow, from Japan? I've been in love with them ever since they headlined the Gilman over World Burns to Death and Caustic Christ.

RetiredAt21 01-04-2006 03:49 PM

yeah, Assembly of God only did the Submission, Obedience, Denial 7", but it's damn good. Have ye heard Chad's other band, the Leveling. They got a CD out on AYP. They rip.

AIRIC 01-04-2006 08:55 PM

Kegcharge anyone? Sadistic War Glory is a fantastic album.

Feel The Darkness 01-04-2006 09:16 PM
Alright, thanks J.
No problem-o. Oh, and I have all 3 bands on slsk if ye want 'em.

DaveToopes 01-04-2006 10:39 PM

Feel The Darkness 01-04-2006 11:47 PM
Masskontroll are great as well.
Indeed.
Anyone like Leng Tch'e?
Can't say that I have.

Subvert_bassist 01-04-2006 11:51 PM

They're pretty good grindcore. I have some on slsk, but since I can't get to you on there, I assume you can't get to me. They're elsewhere on slsk, I'm sure. But if you wanna try to get to me, my slsk s/n: Snaker.

clustifux 01-05-2006 02:10 AM

Masskontroll=Rocked Socks (Thanx J_Atomic for the downloads)

Gnarmageddon 01-05-2006 02:44 PM

And Masskontroll rule.

Feel The Darkness 01-05-2006 05:52 PM

Masskontroll do indeed rule.

Voetsek is good, I got their new 7" ep the other day. haven't spun it yet, but i'll get to it.
