One of the main teachings of Christ was to question your beliefs, and that advice was pretty farsighted, considering the raping of his teachings that the Romans braught to the table.

The bible is an old text which is important to Christians, but it's not the basis of Christianity, the concept of Christ and his resurrection is. actually ADB most of the old testament is void by the coming of christ. Thats why christians dont have to sacrifice a dove if they touch their wife while shes on her period, or slaughter 3 sheep in penance for working on the sabbath. so actually yes the bible does contradict itself a little but there are reasons for it.

When he was a teen he was an adult in hebrew culture; you became adult at 13. That's why there's no Jesus-as-teenager section, adolescence is a modern concept.
