UPDATE:

I just learned from a friend that Rush is coming to my town July 26, 2006. He's usually pretty dependable, so I hope to God that this is true. If so, I'm buying tickets ASAP and getting great seats.

Red Rocks i hope!
the sound at Pepsi center blows.
"Twilight Zone" is such a badass song.
Yeah, it is. The main riff/intro is so simple yet powerful.

studmuffin 11-16-2005 10:40 PM

any one remember the remix of Tom Saywer that came out a few years ago?

Xanadu 11-17-2005 02:31 PM

i like the solo in A Passage to Bangkok

rockinbass17 11-17-2005 05:31 PM

The only problem I have with APTB are the lyrics. Now I know one doesn't listen to Rush for the lyrics, but for some reason they irritate me. Still a good song, though.

I love Rush lyrics.

They're my favorite part.

Jacaran 11-17-2005 05:44 PM

Alex's guitar is my favorite part, the lyrics are a bit cheesy if you really listen to them.

Yeah, it's Red Rocks. Great venue. And yes, Pepsi center sucks, I saw the Stones there twice, terrible acoustics. Rush would be ruined by that bad sound.

Extremely cheesy, but I still like them.

You can't judge all of their lyrics by A Passage To Bankok! Read the lyrics for Spirit of the Radio, Freewill, Tom Sawyer, Xanadu, Closer to the Heart, 2112. Cmon, man.

I know, I was just talking about that particular song.

Dread_rocker 11-19-2005 07:41 AM

Can't wait for the new R30 DVD and album!!!

Maggot Dream 11-19-2005 02:30 PM

I think Rush's lyrics have their ups and downs. Some songs, like 2112, have great lyrics, while others like The Trees are just overdone. I appreciate that Peart was making an allegory in that song, but it's too much of a cartoon.

Hehe, yeah. The Trees is a little iffy.

Xanadu 11-19-2005 08:28 PM

ive been listining to Afterimage alot more now because of my grandfathers current death. it helps me remember him and plus its a great song but more now then ever
Hehe, yeah. The Trees is a little iffy.
haha My friends actually started laughing when they heard The Trees lyrics. But also they didn't get any of the metaphors at all *rollzeyes*

rockinbass17 11-20-2005 10:27 AM

I actually think The Trees is very clever. Instead of making this whole intellectual and philosophical statement, they made it very cartoonish, ridiculous, and easy to understand. Comical satire.
I love Rush lyrics.

Does anyone remember the guy bitching about Rush's lyrics and he posted the lyrics to the Trees? Those are some of the best lyrics I've ever read.
Seriously.

Maggot Dream 11-20-2005 01:18 PM
Yeah, I can't see them quitting anytime soon either. They've still got some good stuff left in them.
It's actually highly likely now, unless my friend was lying.

7/26/06, Red Rocks, CO. :D

YDload 11-20-2005 04:02 PM

I think Neil Peart writes the lyrics thinking they're going to sound cool, but he forgets that Geddy's voice automatically makes every word 58% funnier by default. This is why it's hard to take The Trees seriously.

Yeah, his voice does sound odd at times. Rush in Rio in particular.

Washburn 11-21-2005 11:25 PM
Time Stand Still was off of 2112.

I love Rush, theyt're my fav band. Just watched Rush in Rio like 2 hours ago haha. There's rumours that my city is tryin to get them to play a concert here, and I hope we do.

Alex Lifeson is on of my fav guitarist's. He is so original. Neil Peart is the best drummer and Geddy has a nice voice and he's a really good bassist.
Wrong... Time stand still is on the "Hold your fire" album.

Me and my buddy together have each and every Rush album, he has most of them, but i got a few. Everyone here has basically covered Rush's excellentcy (I apologize if that is spelt wrong) so I'm not even going to bother.

I played that for a talent show with my buddies 3 years ago, i rocked that solo... felt great.

In gym class, we usually listen to Rush all the time cause some guys always bring in their CDs.

Romanticide 11-22-2005 02:30 AM

id have to say my fave song by them would be YYZ.

ps. Geddy Lee is freakin awesome

FatalEnergy 11-22-2005 02:32 AM

NP: Jacob's Ladder

This song is mind blowing. Do they ever play it live?

Double Bass Jim 11-22-2005 02:54 AM

Great song ^^^

Scooch 11-26-2005 12:49 PM
