Nostalgia 10-17-2005 04:17 PM

Dave...by far. No other slayer drummer even came close to comparing with him.

ThrashMaster27 10-17-2005 04:21 PM

Paul Bostaph did more technical stuff than Dave Lombardo, but Dave is the best suited for Slayer.

MRDuCran 10-17-2005 04:22 PM

Did anyone see Slayer at download this yea?. During Angel of Death, that double bass fill after the solos, OMFG he held that for literally about 10 secs perfectly, it was fukkin incredible.

During Reign in blood when Dave does the double bass fill He dosen't do It that long. Wow 10 seconds thats tough.

Yeah I'd agree on that. I know someone who's a very good drummer in a local metal band who thinks Paul was better than Dave. Some of his work was great, like on Disciple. But you can't beat Dave's double bass - like when they play Angel of Death live after the solos where everything but the bass drums cuts out, he keeps it going for about 10 seconds. When I first saw him do that I was like WHOA!

Yeah I was there, it was incredible. I'd seen him do it last year in Birmingham as well though.

I didn't see them at the Download Festival but when I did see them, he did the drum fill, but not actually that long, maybe a few seconds longer than the studio recording.

If you could take away one member from the band who would it be...for Me kerry no problem.

heavy metal kid 10-17-2005 04:53 PM

Kerry indeed.
If you could take away one member from the band who would it be...for Me kerry no problem.
Hmm that is hard. I guess Kerry as well, Jeff's guitar work appeals more to me. But it's like Metallica with no Lars. Lars isn't that great at drums, but it just wouldn't be the same seeing Metallica without Lars, as it wouldn't be the same seeing Slayer without Kerry. That's probably how people felt about Slayer when Dave left.

I remember reading an interview and Kerry said that once they brought back Dave more people started showing up to their shows than when Paul was their drummer. Something along those lines.

But yeah, I'd remove Kerry.
If you could take away one member from the band who would it be...for Me kerry no problem.
Musically you probably could, but Slayer just wouldn't be the same without seeing KK on stage. He's gotta be the meanest looking guitarist on the planet. I'd have to say Dave, as he's been taken away before and the band did fine without him. Not that I would want to take him away, but the other 3 are irreplaceable.

Nostalgia 10-17-2005 05:18 PM

Now I think about maybe you could remove Dave because, guitarist have a large inportance to the band...they distinguish them selves from other guitarists. I guess you could remove Dave.

Yeah but Dave is great at drums, and Kerry isn't so great at guitar, and King is a dick. But yeah most people pay most attention to either guitarists or singers.

kerry is pretty damn good at guitar, jeff is without a dought better but by no means i kerry a bad guitarist. and dave is purly amazing at drums, oh tom was rated #1 bassist in some pole that i saw. this is almost a supergroup.

Nostalgia 10-17-2005 06:46 PM

The only problem I have with kerry is when you compare him to Jeff, he makes Kerry look like a idiot, Oh in my opinion Kerry is not a good lyricist at all, jeff IMO is a under rated lyricist, angel of death lyrics are awesome.

whatduffhuck7 10-17-2005 06:48 PM

yea i like jeffs songs much more than kerry's

I haven't heard what Slayer's been doing after the 2004 Ozzfest. Does anybody know when they are going to record and/or tour again?

They're recording right now, and their CD should be released in Feb.

Nostalgia 10-17-2005 08:48 PM

I know, feb pfft, they should do a acoustic track. I bet it would be awesome.

That would be odd. Though the acoustic part of Seasons in the Abyss is pretty nice.

Great. I hope they tour soon after.

I'm sure they will. That's how they got most of their fame, is just non-stop touring and getting their name and music out there. Plus the past 2 years or so they've been really active with touring. They had Ozzfest, the Download Festival and the Jägermeister Tour.

yeah, they are extremely motivated seeing as how long they have been around.

Nostalgia 10-17-2005 08:56 PM

Man they should come to Washington not much bands come here. Good ones at least.

metalmilitia101 10-17-2005 09:41 PM

washington state? i thought there was a lot of music in seattle? i don't know, never been up your neck of the woods.

Nostalgia 10-17-2005 09:51 PM

its really popular in clubs because of the whole grunge thing started there, but...it's mostly just like alot of indie music, not heavy stuff like slayer.

Simply incredible man...I love that.

I think without KK it wouldn't be slayer...but then again that's a guitarist
for yea

Yes I agree. I think King's a good guitarist, but not as good as others. Sometimes I tend to over-exaggerate about him being not so good of a guitarist because I think he's an asshole.
