One of the ex-soviet countries that became independent in 1991. A very little country you won't even find it on the map. :upset:

The only Megadeth Albums I need now are "Risk", and "The World Needs A Hero",....but I don't know if I'll ever end up getting them

Lord Abortion 01-27-2005 04:14 AM

Well I need Risk, cryptic writings and TWNAH
to complete my 'deth collection...
no money though so what is the best out of these three IYO?

ArcLite 01-27-2005 04:16 AM

I'd say Cryptic Writings is the best of those, then Risk, then TWNAH.

ThrashMaster27 01-27-2005 04:17 AM

Cryptic Writings. Risk is obviously the last of the pile, cause it's crap. The World Needs a Hero is pretty good in parts, but not so much to call it a decent album. So get Cryptic Writings, easily the best of the three.

Lord Abortion 01-27-2005 04:37 AM

O.K one week today 'til 'deth in Glasgow...

acefrehleyjendell 01-27-2005 04:58 AM

I just downloaded a video of Kick the Chair live in ST. Louis

Lord Abortion 01-27-2005 06:14 AM

so does anyone have a perticular song they want to hear on tour??
I would really like to hear holy wars...

ArcLite 01-27-2005 06:15 AM

I'll second that, and Wake up Dead.

I know, I can't wait :D

AB/CD 01-27-2005 09:55 AM

ahhh my mate JP got a bootleg DVD of a concert in Philly from November and wake up dead and holy wars r on it so they should be playing both at the concerts.

playguitar 01-27-2005 06:46 PM

They usually play Holy Wars last. When I saw them at the Warfield Dave came out on stage and started to play the intro reeeeaaaally slow. It was so slow you couldn't tell what song it was. He gradually got a faster and faster until they went full speed, it was great.

Yeah, he did something like that at the show I saw in Philly.

They always play Holy Wars last, and they always play Wake Up Dead. Wake Up Dead was sick live. A song that surprised me (both that they played it and how cool it sounded) was The Scorpion. Live it just has a chugging edge to it that I think it lost on the album.

Yes, Wake Up Dead, was the highlight of the performance when I saw them.

Deffinetly Cyrptic Writings, it's my favorite out of the new 'deth albums easily, it's a lot better than it is said to be

Yeah, same here. Kick the Chair was great too. And Reckoning Day.

Cryptic writings is just my Fave 'Deth album. It's really a showcasing of Dave's writing skills and IMO it contains some of Marty's best moments. It's a whole world away fromt their thrash sound but to me it is by far their most mature and intelligent release. It's like they actually put some thought into what songs and styles to incorporate into the album, instead of jsut going for the whole thrash sound.

"that thrash sound" is what makes Deth my favorite band...

munky_magik 01-28-2005 07:43 PM

Each to their own. While I enjoy listening to their Thrash era stuff, I much prefer listening to the stuff after it as it what really puts Megadeth ahead as a great band for me.
If they had stuck to their thrash sound then I wouldn't appreciate them nearly as much as I do.

I've really grown to respect what munky says, looks like Cryptic Writings is next on my list :)
Thanks man.

munky_magik 01-28-2005 08:06 PM

Although it is my favourite album, I do warn you that it is really detached from the convential Megadeth sound which is why so, so many people dislike it. You should definatly give it a listen to though and form your opinion.

Master Of Nebulah Frost 01-28-2005 08:07 PM

Just buy the god**** System!

Well, I agree completely with your taste in music, so I see no reason why I wouldn't like it...

munky_magik 01-28-2005 08:25 PM

Heh, just treat it as a disclaimer. Cryptic Writings has Trust and She-Wolf on it so you should find at least some things to like, although Live Rude Awakening She-Wolf>Recorded version :)

Chu 01-28-2005 08:30 PM

What album is Symphony of Destruction from?
I like that song, well I have a live video of it, (From Woodstcok '99) the guitarist doesn't look like someone Mustaine would let play for him (Reminds me of Incubus' guitarist tbh).

Edit: Didn't realise I also had the video clip on my HDD :D
The little windmill part at about 2:12 rocks, if only it went longer :(:(:(

munky_magik 01-28-2005 08:36 PM

Symphony of Destruction is from their Seminal "Countdown to Extinction" album. Another very good album, but much more Classic metal than any of the others. It also has great songwriting, but not as great as Cryptic writings IMO.

At '99 I think he would still have had Marty, though I'm not too sure.

Anyway, I'm gonna hit the sack. G'night
