The clean singing is fine gtfo fags.

People who bitch about the singing are also the retards moaning about them not being 't3ch m3tal' anymore (which is also bullshit they're still technical).

The cleaner softer parts add variation and its ultimately why their newest album is as good as their first.

hismajestythepope 02-05-2009 02:59 PM

I don't care if it's not technical, it's just that the clean singing parts always come in at pretty much the same point in the song structurally, and just sound so much more like everything else than ever before.

JonG 02-05-2009 03:06 PM

anybody like bird of ill omen?

hismajestythepope 02-05-2009 03:07 PM

better video from the same show:

#1. slobcore kids lol
#2. jamaican kid in the pit, lol
#3. when trevor phipps' vocals are better than yours at a show... lol

and buzz had better dreads than paul, tbh

this.

It's always at the same point in the song and about half of the time it feels awfully forced.

Six Foot Revolver 02-05-2009 11:49 PM

clean vocals are just about the only thing i don't enjoy about hollow crown.

hismajestythepope 02-06-2009 05:12 AM

In other news, Sam sounds like he needs to take vocal lessons ASAP, mad voice cracking, very little range anymore, etc.

Sucks, he went from being a better version of Spencer Chamberlain to sounding like TJ Bonette live. :/

I agree but it sounds like you think he has backpedaled, which I don't think is the case.

hismajestythepope 02-06-2009 10:40 AM

I'd say otherwise if I hadn't seen live videos from previous to even writing the Dead Swans split, where Sam just couldn't pull off that vocal style anymore (pretty common, look at Josh Scogin and Spencer Chamberlain).

xMalcolmXx 02-06-2009 11:20 AM

np: the catiff choir

looked like faggots, but i <3 this album.

botb 02-06-2009 11:49 AM

in completely different news, TEOAT would be so much ****ing better with a better vocalist. or even if he just growled most of the time instead of doing that in between gay **** that he does 75% of the time.

4yearpro? 02-06-2009 01:08 PM

he sounds rly bad live

strong studio help

botb 02-06-2009 01:28 PM

those kids are only like 18 too arent they?

HighandDriving 02-06-2009 01:46 PM

19-20 I think

I really liked the vocals, sure at times they are kinda silly but they hit the spot for me.

The vocals in The Impact of Two Hearts are sick.

like his growls and stuff when he actually balls to the wall growls are ****ing awesome. but he does that half spoken-half growl **** far too much

HighandDriving 02-06-2009 01:51 PM

When I heard that "Lets break the ice" bs I was deeply sadden.

at the beginning of decorus when hes like whispering? or when he's straight like building up his spoken

HighandDriving 02-06-2009 02:03 PM

Idk I just hate all that stupid shiit.

He sounded fine when I saw them a few months ago.

agreed, noticed it since Ruin but cleans weren't used as much - and its just not the cleans either nearly all of their songs have the same structure, not completely the same but close enough.

hismajestythepope 02-07-2009 11:31 AM
He sounded fine when I saw them a few months ago.
lucky you. he sounds like **** in every thing ive seen, and his vocals sound real strained on hollow crown.

some of the songs on there though, goddamn.

Dimmu Burger 02-07-2009 12:03 PM

I just figured that's what his voice sounds like on HC, but now that I think about it he could be a little stronger on there.

hismajestythepope 02-07-2009 12:14 PM

somehow hes got that voice crack like people get when they do inhales and haven't warmed up enough, like consistently throughout the entire album.

jrowa001 02-07-2009 07:32 PM

ive been liking this band called Light Circles. theyre a solid metalcore band. vocals took a bit to grow on me but they have a lot of potential. they have their EP Broken Seas streaming on the myspace. the sound on the actual EP is better than how the production sounds on myspace, but check them out

www.myspace.com/thelightcircles

hismajestythepope 02-07-2009 08:34 PM

They sent me a friend request on myspace, wasn't too impressed.

jrowa001 02-07-2009 08:41 PM

i think they have potential. they can def play. the vocals just need some variation

RetiredAt21 02-08-2009 01:05 PM

I wasn't into that at all.

he sounded ****ing amazing when I saw them 2 weeks ago.

Dimmu Burger 02-08-2009 01:19 PM

I bet he said "Cheers" immediately after every song.

2muchket! 02-08-2009 01:21 PM

aha a few times he did.

Most of the time he was just bigging up the crowd as it's the first time he played that city with the band.

jrowa001 02-08-2009 01:22 PM
I wasn't into that at all.
hmm oh well. guess im the only one

yeah he was kinda sarcastic that the crowd wasn't into them nor moving all that much.

encmetalhead 02-08-2009 07:42 PM

I'm waiting for the new God Forbid to drop, new songs have sounded promising

hismajestythepope 02-08-2009 07:47 PM

tbh if the kids who went to that show were the types that I think they were (taking myspace photos and ****) then I'd be pisssed too man.

Plus Architects basically started over again in America which can be frustrating. They said they were shocked how little they were known over there.

Oh yeah I understand completely. They're pretty huge over there yet here I only know one person who has even heard of them.
I'm waiting for the new God Forbid to drop, new songs have sounded promising
I dunno about promising, but since IV was the shiznit I'll be hitting up the new joint.
