i know the intro and the stuff after that on the highhat is more difficult than the intro, but seriously the grudge at the end! just listen to it and try to memerize that. it might not be as fast as ticks and leeches but speed isnt everything.. im not saying i can play it but im saying i think the grudge is harder.. but were all better at our own things so maybe thats just it.

+zero+ 08-20-2005 11:02 PM

ok i just checked out the tab and i guess its harder than i remember.. but i still think the grudge is way up there.

Syncratic 08-20-2005 11:06 PM

Dude.

Reflection is the most beautiful song on the album. It's simply stunning.

+zero+ 08-20-2005 11:09 PM

well im going to go listen to it now to sleep. and yea i still think the grudge is harder.good night

Mr Herb 08-20-2005 11:10 PM

how hard is the patient on drums?

besakol 08-21-2005 12:54 AM

Ei dudes. I downloaded the ff: songs off the internet a few months ago.

-you lied
-skeptical
-children of the anachronistic dynasty

does anyone else have these? you lied is definitely tool. probably recorded live from '99 or something.
children of the anachronistic dynasty is either not or very very early (maybe high school) maynard james.
now, skeptical is the interesting one. it seems to run long but gets cut off after 2:06 minutes. it actually sounds like pet from apc and it doesn't fit any of tool's eras. i'd say undertow but it really doesn't fit. the voice closely resembles keenan's. so does the guitar (adam jones) but im really umm...skeptical. what do you guys think? i think it's fake.

children is not and neither is skeptical. ironic name though, eh?

denboy 08-21-2005 04:12 AM

"children of the anachronistic dynasty" is the name of Maynard's highschool band is it not? Or atleast a band he was in before Tool

Different strokes, my man.

I just think Reflection is more beautiful.

BlindWriting 08-21-2005 10:25 AM

I find Reflection to be a bit repetitive after lots of listens. The guitar solos are great, the all tom drum solo is kickaass, but I'm not crazy about Maynard's vocals. It is a beautiful song, and the overall atmosphere is great, but to me, Disposition > Triad > Reflection.

Syncratic 08-21-2005 10:28 AM

I don't find it repetitive. I think Maynard's vocals are some of the best I've heard on that song, if not the whole album.

Its supposed to be repetitive...Its a very tribal song that almost puts you in a trance if you relax and listen to the whole song. I really like his vocal melody lines as well as the lyrics...definately a differnt type of T00L song...but a great song none the less.

Adam Jones is GOD 08-21-2005 10:40 AM

Some people say repetitive. I say mood setting.

I honestly find Disposition to be more hypnotic. The tabla, the plucked guitar, the three repeated lyrics. I could meditate to that.

I'm a disposition fan. The ambience that creates...

You inadvertently just perfectly defined Meshuggah. Thank you. :p

Anyways, Disposition almost made me die once. I've shared the story once here, but I might as well do it again; I was driving home from a long day at school and I was just having a lot of trouble with life in general. Overload of school work, stupid girls, and parents, y'know. On my way home, Disposition came on, and I just fell into this deep trance. I don't know if it was for five seconds, or the duration of the song, but when I "awoke," my car was drifting off the road, heading for a telephone pole.

Syncratic 08-21-2005 04:28 PM

Disposition can lull me to sleep, I love it.

But my opinion of Reflection won't falter.

Wow....that's weird, man.

Do you still recall it whilst listening to Disposition?

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-21-2005 04:31 PM

What do you mean?

Syncratic 08-21-2005 04:32 PM

Does the (near) car crash come to memory when you listen to Disposition?

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-21-2005 05:06 PM

Oh, no, not so much. It's not what I think of when I listen to that song, if that's what you mean.

BlindWriting 08-21-2005 06:03 PM

I think I remember that story. It's a very trance inducing song, I don't blame you.

Syncratic 08-21-2005 06:06 PM

Disposition is the lullaby.

Reflection is the cradle.

Triad is the dream.

Cool. This could open new doors of interpretation.

Woah, that's strange.

One time I was driving along listening to Disposition, and the weather was this overcast grey, which sets the perfect mood for the album. So I was really into it, and right as Maynard said "watch the weather change," it started to rain and I had one of those moments, where you're just completely taken into those songs. That was pretty cool.

Oh man, that's cool, dude. That would be like my room exploding when Maynard screams in The Grudge.

Dried Muffin Remnants 08-21-2005 06:53 PM

I was tripping balls while listening to Third Eye (live) last night. Freaky as hell.

... Did you ever post at leoslyrics.com?

Kage 08-21-2005 07:53 PM

No...I don't recall ever posting there, but I think I've been to the site a couple of times? Do we have a case of deja vu here?

EDIT: Oh, I just saw the post you were probably talking about. There's definately something to this song.
While returning from a tool concert, and listening to this song, well... Right with the music picked up, and he says "watch the weather change". The sky went from a nice calm blue, into an instantaneous thunder storm. The largest and closest lightning strike hit, right as reflection started... It was so ****ing weird, and awe Inspiring.
Very big case of deja vu... very strange :/
