It's pretty cool. Title track has been a favorite for a while, so I was kinda expecting to be underwhelmed, but there's a lot of fun stuff here on first listen. Been wanting it for a while.

They're quite like Queens Of The Stone Age, Black Sabbath, stuff like that.
Stonerish. Fun.

Rob Crow is the singer, he's in numerous indie rock bands (Pinback, Thingy, Heavy Vegetable, etc.)

V/A - Children of Nuggets Box Set

I thought nothing could ever live up to the original Nuggets box set, but this sure comes close. Some amazing stuff by bands like the Lyres and Dream Syndicate.

pixiesfanyo 07-04-2006 01:27 AM

those TMV tracks that leaked.

the album is going to be so good.

Johnny Cash

Genghis Tron
Kayo Dot
Calexico (might see them in a couple days, yay)

I'm in Melbourne and have bought a lot of cds:

Joy Division - Closer
The Cure - Boys Don't Cry
Radiohead - Amnesiac
Queen - A Night at the Opera
Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde
Six Organs of Admittance - School of the Flower
Calexico - Feast of Wire

I'm trying to decide what else to buy. There's a lot of good record stores down here.

sketchyjoe 07-04-2006 11:44 AM

Butthole Surfers

It's amazing that the same band can make songs as poppy and brilliantly catchy as Ah Ha, Pepper or TV Star and make songs as abrasive and brilliantly disjointed as 22 Going on 23, Graveyard or The Shah Sleeps in Lee Harvey's Grave.

Tangy zizzle 07-04-2006 11:41 PM

The Drones - Here Come The Lies (just dawned on me how brilliantly noisy and fiery this record is)
The Dead C (selected songs)
Proof - "Kurt Kobain" (very very cool song).

The Day They Shot A Hole In The Jesus Egg - The Flaming Lips

So very good. I love their cover of What A Wonderful World

YDload 07-05-2006 12:07 AM

I think it's a little weird that the first song off the new TMV album is (allegedly) gonna be called "A Vicarious Atonement" when the new Tool album opened up with "Vicarious."

And both songs are/will be about seven minutes long

Not that it has anything to do with how it will sound (haven't listened to them yet, trying to wait just a bit). It's just a bizarre coincidence.

I Would Set Myself On Fire For You - Believes in Patterns

Why have people getting so excited over this? This is really really pretentious, and whats more it can't even pull it off due to the mediocrity being blasted into our ears. FAIL.
