Has anyone ever heard of Wishbone Ash? I heard one of their songs called Moonshine and it was really good. Does anyone know any good albums of their's?

Woodstock 12-16-2004 08:12 PM

OK, what should I get first, Blonde on Blonde or Blood On The Tracks?

magicbus 12-16-2004 08:15 PM

I don't know, but I'd like to hear too, cause I need some Dylan. (has none)

Use the "site". It has plenty of Dylan and CSNY.

magicbus 12-16-2004 08:54 PM

Not a bad idea.
I'm really diggin this live version of Bertha by the Grateful Dead that I got. It has a very addictive riff. Cool song. :thumb:
I like that song mainly for its chorus. It has one of the best. :)

magicbus 12-16-2004 09:08 PM

Have you guys watched the Jam Outtake in The Last Waltz? I guess Stills comes in at the end and plays guitar for a few minute. I didn't realize this was him until I found out on some site. Man this movie rules.

Kreator2112 12-16-2004 09:14 PM

this is on page 676, whats the highest any one has seen?

Badmoon 12-16-2004 09:15 PM

Indeed it does ;). Clapton shows Robbie up so bad :p

Robbie was great though.

magicbus 12-16-2004 09:29 PM

Oh yea I know, but its ok cause Clapton rules too. That's one of my favorite songs on there.

Kreator2112 12-16-2004 09:30 PM

clapton is god, but on his last dvd i seen, he was with "mary j. blige" and "sherrel crow", isnt this an ultimate low for clapton as far as performance. crow didnt even play guitar, she just stood there like a cheerleader clapping. their are tons of artists out now that would love to perform with clapton.....i think.
Might want to try out some Deep Purple. No, not just Smoke on the Water. Listen to some Bloodsucker, Living Wreck, Flight of the Rat, and of course, their best song, Child in Time.
i've never listened really too much to Deep Purple, i will give it a try thanks for the suggestion :)

If you're gonna get a CD, get In Rock or Made in Japan.

Also, I've finally downloaded Achilles Last Stand. Pretty spiffy song.

Get Highway 61 revisted, and yes Visions of Johanna is deserving of user title status.
OK, what should I get first, Blonde on Blonde or Blood On The Tracks?
i'd have to say Blood on the Tracks. it gets back to what Dylan was all about. Blonde on Blonde he kinda strayed away from his more pure folk or folk-rock whatever you wanna consider it. Blonde on Blonde sounds more like an old time bar saloon album, which all the piano and hooting and hollering.

last night, it was about midnight and i decided i wanted to go to bed, but i wanted to listen to one album first. i had to listen to a discman, cuz my record player is too noisy, so my choices were limited (don't own a lot of cd's). i was thinking "man i need some good Dylan cd's" and i went to set my alarm clock for the next day, and i accidently turned on the radio, and there was a big bell noise, and the radio guy was like "and now for classic vinyl, we are going to be listening to Bob Dylans Blonde on Blonde" i was like PERFECT! so they played the entire album no stops and i was in heaven.

thickasabrick 12-17-2004 08:27 AM

but if you don't have it....i would seriously look into Highway 61 revisted.

and i haven't seen crazyman in a while...did he leave or am i just really out of touch with the rest of the forums?

Randall_Spandit 12-17-2004 09:18 AM

What about Queen?
Sure some of the later stuff wasn't exactly hardcore, but the early stuff was brilliant, all members were songwriters, 3 of them sang (john Deacon didn't)Brian May was an amazing guitarist, anyone who disagrees with the above statement should download (or BUY) Queen 1 or just Great King Rat and or Son and Daughter off of the Queen at the BBC album

i usually just chill in the pit, haven't been to the R&M's in a while

thickasabrick 12-17-2004 10:00 AM

ya i usually stick to Rock n Metal, this thread more often than not.

and to the above statement...we do talk about Queen sometimes, they were great musicians, and talented songwiters. and freddy mercury had an amazing voice.

anyones favourite queen song? im not sure what mine is, there are a lot.

Randall_Spandit 12-17-2004 10:47 AM

Great King Rat- Queen1
Brighton Rock - Sheer Heart Attack or Live KIllers

Thor 12-17-2004 11:09 AM

Bringing It All Back Home is my favorite Bob Dylan album. Blood On the Tracks is probably were you should start though.

Woodstock 12-17-2004 02:03 PM

I have Highway 61 Revisited, but I'm leaning towards Blonde On Blonde.

tallica_drummer 12-17-2004 03:05 PM

yes classic rock is much better than todays "nu rock" as it is called, most of these new bands r mixers etc.
there r like 7 guitarists playing a string each....cant even make a decent solo up....

Kreator2112 12-17-2004 03:32 PM

just because good music isnt mainstream, doesnt mean it isnt out there

deathaholic 12-17-2004 03:33 PM
ok ok, i admit it, i'm a classic rock nut. i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, eric clapton, the doors, and so on. most of the bands i listen to broke up years before i was born. at 17, nearly every song on my playlist is older than me. but is it just my imagination, or is classic rock experiencing sort of a revival. i am running into an increasing number of classic rock fans my age. at my school (an all boys high school), the school newspaper took a poll of everyone's favorite genre and band. led zeppeling got 5th and the beatles got 6th, behind that rap crap. classic rock made up a large percent of ppls favorite genre. is this just by me, or are other ppl noticing this too?

This is now a Classic Rock Discussion thread!
You know what? I totally agree with you man. Zeppelin, Beatles, Doors, And Rush are all amazing bands that influenced today's music. Did you notice that most of today's "rock" bands sound similar to the good old bands(or at least try to) I got Rush's album The Spirit Of Radio. It is The Greatest hits Album and it amazing listening. Anyone like Rush?
just because good music isnt mainstream, doesnt mean it isnt out there
Indeed, but as for rock and roll, the scene is pretty weak. Blues, jam, metal and other genres are doing well, but hard rock bands really aren't.

Rush is awesome. Hehe, you call it ""rock"" too. Because today's rock music is bland un influenced rock and nothing close to as good as the blues and folk influenced rock of the 60s and 70s. Or even the hard rock sound of the 80s. It's just bland 3 chord music.

RockAndRoll 12-17-2004 04:54 PM

I wish I were born in 1948.

Nothing wrong with three chord music. Look at the Beatles, you could have one chord like Tomorrow Never Knows and it could still be a good song.

B0nz0 12-17-2004 05:10 PM

I HAVE RETURNED. and my little thread is still alive. very proud of all of you for keeping it alive. And onto three chord rock, there's nothing wrong with it, as long as it's good, which most of todays isn't. anyways what are your thoughts on Emerson, Lake, and Palmer?

Woodstock 12-17-2004 05:11 PM

Welcome back, you need to post more often ;)

I love Trilogy, and I have been looking for Tarkus. How is it?

Distant Echoes 12-17-2004 05:31 PM

Your thread, B0nzo, is just about the only reason i come online anymore.

You have given me a meaning to life!

Whats best about three chord rock isnt only it sounds great, buts easy to play and cover most importantly. Seriously, you could learn 20 3-chord songs in a day. Now thats forgiving to musicians like me
