I was listening to a foreign objects cd my friend downloaded for me and he set the volume leveling to max and my ears were blasted when the first song kicked in. I don't usually ever get angry but when that happened I was seriously pissed lol
Oh btw I fixed the Ribspreader problem, turns out the idiot that ripped the album I downloaded had set the volume settings at +100% gain.
I ****ing hate when people do that.

i am the robots 12-28-2007 02:23 AM

I like 100% gain :/

TojesDolan 12-28-2007 03:16 AM

well that's because you don't know **** about equal loudness contours.

i am the robots 12-28-2007 03:27 AM

Well wait, does this count for the volume adjustment settings for itunes or is this something completely different.

I'm a noob at anythingthing musically related aside from plugging in a microphone and yell into it overtop of my friends playing mediocre deathcore.

Yeah I checked the volume adjustment in itunes, and instead of being in the middle (IE no artificial volume gain) the slider had been set to plus 100%.

RetiredAt21 12-28-2007 03:46 PM

Ribspreader is pretty awesome.

For the record the volume leveler thing on my new iPod doesn't work for crap. It makes the music go back and forth between really loud and really soft. Gay! I'm better off just leaving it be.

AA-12 12-28-2007 04:50 PM

Why don't you guys just get well ripped music? I've never had that problem.

The leveler is stupid as hell on the iPod. It makes it so you can't turn it up very loud at all.

If I'm getting a cd for free online i'm not gonna delete it because the bitrate is different than what I use. I'll just suck it up.

<<done complaining!

Skyler 12-28-2007 04:59 PM

Do any of you guys use the sound enhancer feature in iTunes? I've been listening to music with it on 100% for about a week now and I like it much better.

AA-12 12-28-2007 05:06 PM

Yeah, it's pretty awesome.

negrodamus 12-28-2007 05:29 PM

How do you use it?

AA-12 12-28-2007 05:35 PM

Edit - Preferences - Playback

Dimmu Burger 12-28-2007 06:24 PM
Edit - Preferences - Playback
I'll have to try that. Of course I usually use my iPod instead of my computer. I can hook that up to my surround sound easier.

pate 12-28-2007 10:34 PM

What does this sound enhancer do?

gmoneyguy 12-28-2007 10:39 PM

Enhances sound, but don't quote me on that.

pate 12-28-2007 11:01 PM

Profound

I think it may add some harmonics onto the bass notes, so the listener is fooled into thinking that their stereo system is pumping out more bass than it really is. Among other things, I've read that it messes with the phase of some of the higher notes to increase the stereo image.

Eliminator 12-29-2007 12:49 AM

fascinating

Yea, this is common even in recording these days, so that you can still hear the kick drum and bass guitar even on stereos with small speakers that can't physically reproduce lower frequencies. WAVES makes a badass plugin that does this.

Phase has nothing to do with stereo imaging, lol. Whoever wrote that is either talking out of his *** or referring to something else.

Why do you guys use iTunes anyway? it blows

the2stranger 12-29-2007 10:11 AM

Winamp ftw!

jrowa001 12-29-2007 10:11 AM

iTunes works fine for me.

i recently got Demigod's Slumber of Sullen Eyes and i really like it so far

AA-12 12-29-2007 10:17 AM

iTunes is easily the best i've found. Mainly if you have an iPod.

Txus 12-29-2007 10:21 AM

Winamp is the best imo.

AA-12 12-29-2007 10:23 AM

I used to use it but I find it pretty bad now.

Eliminator 12-29-2007 10:34 AM

why are you so backward

publicastration 12-29-2007 10:47 AM

I like iTunes. Plus since I have an iPod the integration is seamless.
