Air - 10,000hz Legend

This is amazing.

Robert Crumb 07-02-2006 12:43 PM

Caetano Veloso - Transa

Secretly, I was hoping Brazil would take the World Cup so I would have a reason to play Caetano Veloso songs all day long. But reasons are kind of overrated, you know?

ATM 07-02-2006 12:44 PM

Brazil were seriously outplayed.

Robert Crumb 07-02-2006 12:54 PM

Brazil looked bored. It's the World Cup, you jerks!

ATM 07-02-2006 12:55 PM

Well, they have already won 6 of them.

Robert Crumb 07-02-2006 01:06 PM

True, but seven man. Seven. I was falling asleep during the game. It only got exciting when Brazil realized there were ten minutes left and they were about to get bounced from the tourney. Jerks.

Welcome to the forums :thumb:

The Promise Ring - Nothing Feels Good - I think TPR may be one of my favourite bands of all time based simply on this album.

Ornery Cephalopod 07-02-2006 04:12 PM

Kayo Dot - Dowsing Anemone

It gets better every time I listen.

Minus The Bear- They Make Beer Commercials Like This EP

Seriously this is a great little album they have here, all good songs. Especially "I'm Totally Not Down With Rob's Alien," such a chill track. Almost like post-rock except it has vocals and it's ABOUT something.

I will never get tired of hyping this EP. Just tired of spelling out the laborious title.

Interstate 07-02-2006 04:17 PM
"Forget Me" has such a good chorus. What a catchy album.
It's a perfect closer. I'm clueless as to which album to get after this though. I'll have to search hard on Ebay for them as they're really hard to find in the UK.

jeff buckley - sketches for my sweetheart the drunk
aphex twin - selected ambient works vol. 2

That EP is awesome. I lost it though when I got a new PC cos the other one died on me :upset: I would download it but my slsk seems to have died on me. It's refusing to download.

Tangy zizzle 07-02-2006 04:36 PM

I'm starting to really, really REALLY like the Replacements.

High On Fire - The art of self defence
Howlin' Rain - Howlin' Rain
Replacements - Tim

Daniel! 07-02-2006 04:43 PM

Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band - Trout Mask Replica

I think I like this. I'm not very sure.

Bukowski 07-02-2006 04:45 PM

Can - Tago Mago
Unwound - Repetition
I'm starting to really, really REALLY like the Replacements.
They have a new song out called "Message To The Boys." No Bob Stinson obviously, but it still sounds pretty faithful I suppose.

Interstate 07-02-2006 04:50 PM

The Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not -My first listen of this proper, I don't get what all the fuss is about. Some of the songs are good but overall the album doesn't really do anything for me. I guess they're better live than on record.

Aretha Franklin - I Never Loved A Man The Way I Love You - This on the other hand, is faultless. One of the best soul albums ever made.

6Stringer 07-02-2006 06:01 PM

Today I bought Defiance, Ohio - The Great Depression it's kind of a folky punk band similar to This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb. Also, Arrogant Sons of Bitches' Three Cheers for Disappointment has been playing on my car stereo for the past few days, so has Anti-Flag - For Blood and Empire. I still think A-F have sold out, but dammit they still make some fine music.
Arrestthisman and Robert Crumb, you n00bs. Brazil has only won five world cups, they were going for six.
Whatever.

I bought some more music today. I don't know why. I haven't even listened to all the stuff I bought last time. But I had to buy an album by some Ukrainian dudes or else I would have had to give up my World Cup radio show plans. I ended up picking up the only album they had in the puny Ukraine section of the puny world music section. It's an album of traditional Ukrainian songs covered by The Ukrainians, which is surprisingly a band that features one of the dudes from the Wedding Present. It's pretty good stuff, also has a couple of well done Sex Pistols covers. Also bought, and thus, will eventually dig:

Caetano Veloso - S/T (1967)
Count Five - Psychotic Reaction
Al Green - I'm Still In Love With You

I also wanted to buy the Plan B album but couldn't find it.

Tangy zizzle 07-02-2006 08:39 PM

Marvin Gaye - Here, My Dear
Comets on Fire - Avatar (I've made my mind up, this is easily their best)
Replacements - Tim
Can - Monster Movie

BillCosby 07-02-2006 08:42 PM

The Dismemberment Plan - Emergency & I
Les Savy Fav - Inches
Against Me! - Crime
Against Me! - The Disco Before The Breakdown
Against Me! - Acoustic

Beach vacation this past week. I dug:

The New Pornographers - Mass Romantic
Islands - Return to the Sea
The Unicorns - Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone?
The Velvet Underground - Loaded
T. Rex - Electric Warrior
Asobi Seksu - Citrus
Roxy Music - Country Life

And a little bit of the Led Zeppelin DVD on the car ride home.

I concur, man. I kinda miss the messiness of the older stuff, but overall, easily their best.

For my most recent diggage today:

The Coral - s/t

I dunno, I don't like it nearly as much as Invisible Invasion... but I'll have to spend some more time with it.

Little Man being Erased 07-02-2006 09:22 PM

Gnarls Barkley - St. Elsewhere
The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow
Bruce Springsteen - The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle
Sonic Youth - Goo
Beastie Boys - Licensed to Ill

Goo is awesome.

Zappa 07-02-2006 09:27 PM

Glad to see someone isn't done with St. Elsewhere yet. I haven't heard it in weeks now.

Little Man being Erased 07-02-2006 09:50 PM

It seems to have pretty decent staying power. To me, at least.
It seems to have pretty decent staying power. To me, at least.
The only track I really enjoyed on the album was "Crazy", and that got old after only a couple of listens. I did only listen to the album in its entirety once, though, so maybe I need to listen to it a couple more times.

sr800bkBassist 07-02-2006 11:06 PM

i just bought:

Jefferson Airplane- "After Bathing at Baxter's"

very cool CD.

Cygnus Inter Anates 07-02-2006 11:32 PM
The only track I really enjoyed on the album was "Crazy", and that got old after only a couple of listens. There are some really good songs in there, but the rest are just undeveloped and annoying novelty tunes.
