It's definitely "poppier." Devoto spits a lot less venom. It's a great album, but "better than Real Life" is hard to calculate, in my book. They're really close.
Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street
Patti Smith - Easter The Cranberries - Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We? the first two because I'm reading Lester Bangs' biography and it put me in the mood for them, and the third one because I feel like it. I've also been on a power-pop kick this week. Mostly Gin Blossoms and Big Star.
I read that ****, I read everything I can find with Lester Bangs in it. Anyway, Fugazi - Repeater is a work of art. |
"Because You're Frightened" is ridiculously great. I love "Model Worker" about as much, too.
Correct Use... doesn't have a "Parade," though. I love that slower song. EDIT: I guess "A Song from Under the Floorboards" fits the latter bill. It's not as good as "Parade." |
"Let It Blurt"? Really interesting read. I can't figure out if I like him or not.
Hmm.. I didn't read that one. I read one which was more of a collection of his work called Blood feasts and something something. It was pretty cool, but it took me awhile to figure out if I liked him too. |
The Natural History - Beat Beat Heartbeat
The Promise Ring - Nothing Feels Good - Ah I love this album. The Coral Diamond D |
I was always under the impression that we all just suck it up so that we can impress our internet buddies.
|
I always have to do that too. It takes like 30 seconds.
|
Right now I am digging The Zombies.
|
Listening to the Silver Apples right now, been digging a variety of stuff over the last couple days, though. Currently setting up a playlist for countries involved in the World Cup quarterfinals, which I'll be playing on my radio show on Monday. Got everyone covered except Ukraine, and I'm failing hard on that one.
|
Zombie Nation - Kernkraft 400 EP
This is such a good pump up stadium song. |
Avey Tare and Panda Bear - Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished.
It's a pre Animal Collective Animal Collective CD. Quite astounding. |

Black Flag - My War
I like punk. |
My War kicks so much ass. The last 4 tracks are fucking heavy.
|
My War is very good - Bill Stevenson is a great drummer. I don't get why some people hate that album.
|
People are stupid.

Report card brownie points bought me:
Genius/GZA - Liquid Swords Eric B. & Rakim - Paid in Full Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska Les Savy Fav - Inches |
Theres nothing quite like Silver Apples. Whats your favorite album. Mine's probably Contact.
Honestly, not sure. I've got the Silver Apples/Contact thing so I don't really place them as seperate albums. "Whirly-Bird" is definitely my favorite song and I like the first few tunes the most in general though, so I'd probably lean towards Silver Apples. Fun stuff. |
I just got my hands on the Beck set from Bonnaroo so I am diggin the hell out of that.
|
Hot Snakes - Automatic Midnight
The Unicorns - Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone I haven't checked out De La Soul and I will do so tonight. |
Rock The Casbah is the best party song ever.
The Clash - London Calling The Clash - Singles and I bought Double Nickels On The Dime today, cant wait to listen to it. |
IWASMOFFY - Believes in Patterns
Took long enough for a good emo release to come out this year.. |

Silver Apples is great. I couldn't believe it was from the 60's. |
Goblin Cock - Bagged and Boarded (well this is good stoner rock-ish fun)
Man Man - Six Demon Bag |
Found some great stuff courtesy of an online radio show. Gun Club, Suede, two different Tom Verlaine solo songs, and much more. Always an interesting listen.

Well, maybe that's untrue, but I like everything I've heard of his thus far. |
Animal Collective - Sung Tongs
The album really isn't that good, but I still like it. |
I'm really digging Sebadoh - Bakesale. Does anyone like this band??
|
I am digging Black Uhuru and Steel Pulse and other second wave reggae.
