I need to get Lamentations so badly.

Kage 08-31-2006 03:01 PM

This is a fucking amazing performance of Deliverance. I don't think I've ever gotten so many shivers from a metal song in my life.

Every live performance of Deliverance is amazing.

/seen it live twice :D

Kage 08-31-2006 03:03 PM

They played Deliverance when I saw them, which was amazing, of course, but for some reason the performance on this DVD is just mindblowing.

JamJar 08-31-2006 03:06 PM

Stop talking about how you have seen them live. It makes me feel more upset that I can't see them because I can't afford it :upset:

Darkness 08-31-2006 03:09 PM

How much was a ticket for you Jam? It was 40 (Canadain) bucks both times I saw them, and one time was at the first Sounds of the Underground.

JamJar 08-31-2006 03:16 PM

It's about £18 (Roughly 35 Canadian) but I am totally broke.

Darkness 08-31-2006 03:46 PM

Ah I see. That's to bad.

Jude 08-31-2006 04:10 PM
It is very good. A killer d0cumentary as well. It's great for Mendez quotes.

 I know. I love how limited his English is, although it's too bad they couldn't have interviewed him more/didn't.

Actually the interviews were mainly Mike, some Lopez and only a little of the other two.

pate 08-31-2006 04:11 PM

Yeah. I love when they're talking about their fights. Lopez and Peter make me roffle in that part.

Shattered_Future 08-31-2006 04:53 PM

I should watch the documentary again...I never got past the part where Mike is recording his growls.

Deliverance live was BEASTLY. Especially the end.

Just under a month until I get to see them again.

Kage 08-31-2006 04:55 PM

Why the hell is the 'o' in documentary always replaced with a zero?

Shattered_Future 08-31-2006 04:57 PM

Whoa, just noticed that...

I have no idea. Maybe documentary is Swahili for screwing your mother's goat or something.

Kage 08-31-2006 04:58 PM

What a hacker should do if he wasn't completley worthless like all those who attack MX, is to change all those codes so that almost every word you can type gets changed into something weird.

That would be infinately annoying.

pate 08-31-2006 05:00 PM

Haha. Don't give them ideas.

Shattered_Future 08-31-2006 05:01 PM

That would be annoying. DON'T GIVE THEM ANY IDEAS!

BITCH DON'T BE TAKING MY STATEMENT AWAY FROM ME! :doublymad:

pate 08-31-2006 05:06 PM

*pats Mike on head*

The first time I totally typed "pates Mike on head" :(

Shattered_Future 08-31-2006 05:25 PM

That's only mildly gross.

TojesDolan 08-31-2006 05:31 PM

That's sexually impossible.

pate 08-31-2006 11:30 PM

  You guys...

Toaster 08-31-2006 11:35 PM

  @ Mike's comment

Big mistake for the latter, eh? How long did they get for you, 20 minutes?

i am the robots 09-01-2006 12:17 AM

Sounds Of The Underground was great the past two years.

Darkness 09-01-2006 12:19 AM

Not at all, it was a great show. Well only Opeth had enjoyable music, but I had a good time none the less. Opeth played 4 songs, plus I got to meet them and get autographs. They played Deliverance, The Grand Conjuration, To Rid The Disease, and Demon of the Fall.

Captain Quentin 09-01-2006 02:50 AM
So the song's German? :p

I don't mean any disrespect with that either.

I'm stealing that wallpaper and using it. :chug:
i don't get what you mean........

Det_Nosnip 09-01-2006 01:15 PM
Sounds Of The Underground was great the past two years.
Ugh. Opeth and SYL were basically the only bands that I enjoyed last year, other than Gwar. Unearth were good live performers, although not really my style of music. The rest were godawful.

Crysiss 09-01-2006 01:28 PM

I lost my Lamentations DVD, Im gonna buy it again though:D

I was supposed to see SOTU, but plans go down sometimes..

Insipid2000 09-01-2006 08:35 PM

What do you guys think Opeths most heavy, brutal, skull smashing song is from what Ive heard or what instantly comes into my head is The Grand Conjuration.

Shattered_Future 09-01-2006 09:47 PM
i don't get what you mean........
It's better that I don't explain...

There's a couple of moments that I could call "brutal, skull smashing moments":

The beginning of Master's Apprentices
The one riff in BWP with the doubletracked vocals
Most of Bleak
Beginning of The Leper Affinity
Some parts of DOTF.

Are you kidding me? It's almost like you haven't heard BWP or Demon of the Fall.

Spoonful of Shame 09-02-2006 12:37 AM

If you are talking live then I would also say it is the Grand Conjuration. I couldn't believe how heavy it was. \m/

Insipid2000 09-02-2006 02:54 AM
Are you kidding me? It's almost like you haven't heard BWP or Demon of the Fall.
No I have heard them, The Grand Conjuration was just what sprang to mind then beacuse overall its a Brutal track I mean theres no melody really just vocals and TTTTTTTTTTHHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEE GGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDDDD CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNJJJJJJJJJJJJJUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNN!!

But Demon of the Fall is ****ing brutal for Opeth anyway.

eighty d 09-02-2006 04:33 AM

The most crushingly heavy Opeth riff for me is the second (I think) in Deliverance. The one that's playing when the first vocals come in.

Tyr 09-02-2006 08:08 AM

The beginning of Wreath's pretty heavy, as well.

hehe, righty o then :p

and for the heaviest song, i would say either BWP, Deliverance or Masters Apprentices

TojesDolan 09-02-2006 09:41 AM

The first part of April Ethereal
The beginning/Ending riff of Wreath
That part before the clean vocals from The baying of the hounds
The chorus from "Ghost of perdition"
"Run to submission..." that part from "By the pain I see in others"
Ugh, I can't remember what part exactly but a heavy riff in "The night and the silent water"

yeah that should do.

Thor 09-02-2006 10:17 AM

Heaviest parts in all of Opeth:
1. Blackwater Park starting at 5:14
2. Master's Apprentices intro riff
3. Demon of the Fall at 2:34
4. The Baying of the Hounds at 6:45
5. The Leper Affinity at 5:37
6. Ghost of Perdition at 6:32

These are some that came to mind first.

Fvck, that bit is one of my favourite parts of Deliverance. That album is just so amazingly evil sounding.

lionelhutz88 09-02-2006 04:16 PM

you guys are missing the intro to Karma, that song is so heavy.

Great list, though I'd add the first few minutes of Wreath to it.
