It was true he wanted a poppier direction. It would also be good for another album because then the other three guys would be proper members.

and then I could say I have seen Megadeth, not Megadave :D
Haha, I agree.

He needs to get Dave Ellefson back or whatever. There was that lawsuit (I think) though, so that probably won't happen.

I haven't been up to date on Megadeth in quite a while.

Apocalyptic Raids 09-28-2005 08:43 PM

Yeah, that lawsuit was fucking rediculous. Getting Menza back would have been cool, and nearly happened too :-(

Whenever there is a thread on Metalcore you can be assured Kittens will be there defending his precious american metal.
It's quite annoying... You'd think after a while he'd either leave or realize that they're not as good as he thinks.

Apocalyptic Raids 09-28-2005 09:01 PM

He reminds me of that guy who was here about a month before Kittens, Glow481 or something. He tried to defend it by quoting Metal Hammer

I agree. All of the arguements are becoming the same and we have about 5 newbies who cannot type or think a single coherent thought.

NP: Desaster

On Coroner Mistress Of Deception is 'the' track off No More Colour-just. A fantastic ripping album by the most underrated thrash band of all time.

An excellent track indeed.

I wouldn't call them the most under-rated of all time though.

FatalEnergy 09-28-2005 09:15 PM

I would really like to see them get back together, I don't think that'll ever happen though

MAthiAS 09-28-2005 09:18 PM

I don't know if their the most underrated, there's loads of great thrash bands that your average metal fan overlooks.

Crap, I just got soy milk in my escape key. Oh yeah, soy milk is metal. \m/

What a coincidence, I spilled soymilk all over my keyboard yesterday, and I was dumb and didn't think it would be too bad. Now my keyboard is sticky and smells bad.

Soymilk is metal, I haven't had a glass of the real stuff in years.

NP: Helloween - Dr. Stein

MAthiAS 09-28-2005 09:30 PM

Its really so much better, except that it tends to harden itself to stuff if you don't clean it. RIP Esc.

Blunt 09-28-2005 09:33 PM

Well Coroner as one of the most unrecognised Thrash bands.
Who are the other contenders.

There's one thing we have to show to Ryan.

Not to mention a good reason for us to start up a DTP crew again.

MAthiAS 09-28-2005 09:40 PM
Well Coroner as one of the most unrecognised Thrash bands.

Most bands outside of the big 6, the German trio, and Overkill, and a few others.

Blunt 09-28-2005 09:41 PM
No doubt, man, people need to realize that. Just because you're influenced by something doesn't mean you're playing that particular genre.

The Haunted- closer to melodic death.

Lamb of God- kinda groove-ish (NOT metalcore)

Shadows Fall- ehh...metalcore's a sketchy word for them...I just consider them straight up metal.

But those three bands defenitely are not thrash. If any kid who is "new" to the wonderful world of thrash reads this, these three bands are thrash:

Sodom

Kreator

Saxon

Download a few songs by those three bands and then listen to Lamb of God, The Haunted, and Shadows Fall. Then compare the thrash-itude.

By the way, I'm not downing those three bands, I love Lamb of God, The Haunted, AND Shadows Fall. But I know enough to know that they are not thrash.
Shadows Fall, not thrash, I guess it depends on how you define thrash.
And after recently seeing a Saxon video, that is not thrash, Spinal Tap inspired metal at times. But maybe it was just a bad show

Blunt 09-28-2005 09:43 PM
Most bands outside of the big 6, the German trio, and Overkill, and a few others.
So Kreator, Sodom and Destruction I guess...

Well Overkill, sure , are Exodus in the big 6 ?

Anacrusis anyone?

Freezing Moon 09-28-2005 09:44 PM

This was fine until the last band he listed.

So Anacrusis does not count?

Well hey brilliant band, a little insane to be sure with Nardi's shrieking but I would argue a great thrash band with some albeit quirky Pink Floydisms going on.

What about Anacrusis? I'm talking about how he's calling The Haunted thrash.

Anacrusis is pretty good, except I don't like the singing much.

It's really starting to piss me off how everyone thinks The Haunted is thrash now a days. They have one of the worst names for a band ever, even though that's kind of besides the fact they suck
So Anacrusis does not count?

Anacrusis's First album was pretty decent thrash, nothing too special, but after that I wouldn't really call them thrash anymore.

NP: Believer - Sanity Obscured (Now here is an under rated thrash band!)

Blunt 09-28-2005 10:01 PM

Oh I see. Well One Kill Wonder was pretty much Slayer worship n the riffing department. Didn't really grab me but it was basically thrash. Have not heard the latest which by most accounts is not thrash.

Believer- I do believe I still own a copy of that. Have to revisit.

RavenousMetalist87 09-28-2005 10:13 PM

To me, labelling what is what is just a pain in the *** nowadays.

You have the basic standard bands that are trying to look emo, but sound like a cross between In Flames and a random old Hardcore vocal style. Then you have their fans who are like "OmG dIz **** iz s000 HARDc0rE!!1111111111111"

I don't get it. What's really so great about that music? Personally, I think it's not a sin for these kids to like this music, but when it pops up like the bubonic plague, it's like "geez, this just seems like people want to be popular and follow the bandwagon."

However, I do like a lot of variety. It doesn't hurt to like the European metal though. At least the original sources that started the idea before everyone and their dog went and turned it into a regurgitated thing are good. Well to me they are.

Then again, I'm not that big on Soilwork, In Flames or The Haunted. I do like Arch Enemy...XD

/guilty pleasure.

So there you have it, I just admitted something I shouldn't have.

However, I never mentioned the part about labelling. Too much labelling...>_<

Gives me a headache because all the noobies whine when you tell them what you think it is.

Sad that you can't get any respect for you opinion anymore. Or so it seems.

MAthiAS 09-28-2005 10:16 PM

I'm pretty sure in 5 years (maybe less) time, the whole metalcore/post-hardcore thing will have died out, its just a question of where popular rock/metal will go from there.

RavenousMetalist87 09-28-2005 10:27 PM
I'm pretty sure in 5 years (maybe less) time, the whole metalcore/post-hardcore thing will have died out, its just a question of where popular rock/metal will go from there.
That's probably true. Just like how Hair Metal died.

Hardcore/Metalcore = Hair Metal/Nu Metal

Some new band will do something so 'spectacular' and then that one evil will cause another million to follow.

Hopefully it is a good evil...and something better than what we have XD

Ahhh.....Everyone! He likes Arch-Enemy! Flame Him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111111oneone

I kid, I kid

I consider some Rhapsody and Sonata Artica as my guilty pleasure, even though I know it's really really gay and hardly metal

I do agree that this genre whoring is getting really old really fast, stupid emo bastards

jk. That album is like a ****ing drug addiction though :D

FatalEnergy 09-28-2005 10:49 PM

My favorite song on that album would have to be Karma's Messenger. It's insanely catchy and helps me get ready for school in the morning and is fun to try to headbang to while eating poptarts
