oh yeah - and speak no evil of the greatest ballad ever - «nothing else matters»!!!
i also love «low man's lyric» from ReLoad, but that one is just the best (not considering Fade to Black because it's not a «real» ballad, and the same goes for «The Thing...» and «Sanitarium» ) |
good idea for a topic. things need organizing.
my view on metallica is that they should become a strictly live band. i know sometimes bands need a little different twist and that it must suck to have to sing and play «creeping death» in every show for over 20 years now. but nothing can excuse what they did with «st anger», which i can only call «selling out». nobody needs metallica to sound like Korn. i am an open minded guy and i respect bands who change their sound, like slayer did with their last album, but metallica went a tad too far. i wouldn't suggest they call it a day because they're still in good health on stage, but they could become a strictly live band like the Stooges or the Doors are now. these are my two cents, flame at will. and remember....«RTL» lives on.
for gods sake leave st anger alone! i know its your opinion and i respect that, but comments like this make is argument which just get annoying for everyone |
Does anyone know an allaround easy song to play by metallica for a band starting out besides for whom the bell tolls ?
creeping death. |

Try listening to the album somtime, it sounds nothing like Korn. You're an open minded guy who thinks they should become a live band because you don't like the way they changed their sound? |
creeping death.
yeh, if you can play the over ridiculously hard solo, id say puppets |

sad but true and wherever i may roam would be my suggestions :thumb: |
munky - to me st anger sound nu-metallish in some parts, but i'm shutting up now :p
creeping death has an easy bassline, i forgot about the guitar part of it...sorry. try nothnig else matters or jump in the fire, then |
Define nu-metallish. |
nu-metallish.....crap
|
well, to me they sound like a bunch of beginner kids in a garage trying to define their sound, which they shouldn't by now.
nu-metallish as in «influenced by the new metalcore scene» |
nu-metallish.....crap
*sigh* Just because don't like it doesn't mean that it is crap. It just means that you don't like it. I really wish people would stop trying to dictate their fucking music tastes to the world. |
well if thats true it would take a bunch of very talanted kids to make stuff like that
|
nu-metallish.....crap
there is no such thing as crap music, it is just not to your taste |
Hmm...nice one
*sigh*
It's true though. You might sigh all you want, but as much as I despise Metallica, it would be more prudent for you to say "it's not my cup of tea" as opposed to saying they suck. That's like a 3 year old temper tantrum. If so many other people still dig it, and they still sell millions of records, clearly, they don't suck. You just don't dig em anymore. The same applies to every band out there you don't like. You don't like em. But your authority to say such things in a blanket manner is not higher than anyone else. Your ears hear crap, other's hear awesomeness. Your opinion is just that, an opinion. Old saying.. "opinions are like assholes, everyones got em". So you see? You can think it sucks, but it won't. It just means you don't like it anymore. If you come off with that attitude, where you think everyone you don't like sucks, you won't last long here. |

Yeh you might dig back at me for this, but i just dont believe that todays music is unique at all... |

Heh, don't feel bad. Dboon has a lot more experience at this. |
fair enough, i'll try not to.
i got the 'justice' guitar book a couple of weeks ago, for a sequencing thing that im doing for music tech, harvester of sorrow sounds pretty good played with violins and other orchestral instruments (that is until it gets to the parts with heavy distortion). just thought i would share that with everyone |
Apocalyptica manage the whole thing pretty well, I thought.
|
yeah the album of metallica covers they did was brilliant
cant really see why they did 'sad but true' it doesnt have the brilliant sound that the others do...then again on one of their other cds the had a cover of fight 'fire with fire' so... also apocalyptica had proper instruments and are competant musicians i was doing it on cubasis vst (think thats it), and the midi sounds arent brilliant on it |
dude who saw the metallica movie and does anyone own it yet tell me if its good or not ive seen the one in theater but is it better on dvd with the extras or what?
|
i havnt seen it but i really want it, maybe i'll buy it from amazon tonight
|
amen
can someone suggest more songs from metallica that are decent besides master of puppets fade to black the one enter sandman the unforgivin i know there is more, those are just the ones im familiar with:)
One of my Favorites has always been creeping death. |
I think its this next album (after st. anger) and they'll call it a day. It will prolly be somehting epic like black album, possible like reload....but i doubt it will go back tothe old days...i thin metallica want to put those days behind if i'm not mistaken.
I dont think James can ever sing like he did in the 80's because his voice has became deeper than then. You can start to hear the change in And Justice For ALL.. :) Its Sad but True...... |

i think he sounded best during the 'justice' period, but now he could never sing something like hit the lights the way he used to, which is quite sad really also that was a bad joke, but you can have rep for the attempt :thumb: |
IMO, James's best vocal period was during the Justice and Black album period...it started to get deeper after that. S&M is prolly the peak of him being able to hold the notes etc..like on St. Anger, some places seem like his voice is about to break..on S&M, it didn't really sound like that.

when do metallica start new album is bob rock producing it
|
They're already recording it.
