That lick before the Vivialdi thing is harmonised btw, if that's what you're talking about.
As I learned on harmonizing riffs.

You down/up so many notes so each guitar blends together.

Harmonizing an octave apart is the way I learned.

MRDuCran 01-31-2006 04:40 PM

I prefer 3rds myself, like Bodom and most metal bands do.
6ths are cool when used right i.e Paganini.

IheartSP 01-31-2006 04:49 PM

Yeah I use 3rds 90% of the time.

I'm gonna go buy a cd sometime. It's His works done on violin in the same tempo
and tunings as he used.

I'm so in love with the caprices. I've been studying them and learning the Fifth
and it's made my playing so much better just over the last three weeks.

I won't to get to the point were I can play and have that same sorta emotion that he obviuosly had.

3rds are probably my favorite too. I'm not a big fan of octaves or 7ths much. 5ths are decent for some parts, but when overused...

I'll listen again then, I tabbed it over a year ago.

MRDuCran 01-31-2006 05:14 PM

I can only listen to a few op the Caprices, like 1, 3, 24. There's probably more but I can't think at the moment. but La Campanella kicks all their ***' easily imo.

Well, at least the main theme does.

6ths=Inverted thirds so usually you'll end up playing a thirds harmony an octave lower or higher and it will seem as if you are harmonizing sixths but you are really harmonizing inverted thirds diads.

(Hope thats not confusing)

IheartSP 01-31-2006 06:40 PM

Silenius I got you, I didn't even realize those were 6ths, I do that all the time.

I know but 6ths are still valid harmony otherwise they wouldn't be called 6th's and you wouldnt get 6 chords. They also have a different sound, and since it's less used in "root" position, they sound fresher to my ears.

I'm just saying that there is no difference between 3rd harmony and 6th harmony besides the octave which the harmony is being played on. The notes are the same.

I hate finger picking with a passion.

But luckily, I don't play classical. I play metal and jazz, so I can make love to my pick.

Nah, both of those were Maj3rd harmonies.

We mean.

G--------------
D-4-----------
A-5-----5-----
E--------2----

First is D,F# = Dmaj diad(no 5th).
Second is the same 2 notes but the other way round, so F#, D, which is also known as F#min6.
