Me too. Just found out they're coming to town later this summer. Missed them last time, not gonna let that happen again.

The Dead Milkmen - Big Lizard In My Backyard
The Dead Milkmen - Beezlebubba
The Dead Milkmen - If I Had a Gun

These guys will probably start to get old soon, so I'm going to enjoy listening to them as much as possible until that time comes.

Zappa 06-24-2006 08:49 PM

Trompe le Monde is my second favorite Pixies record.

I've said this at least once before, and nobody cares.

Lucky, they'd never come here. They'd be bitchin' live as well I'm sure.
DM never get old. Dave Blood forever!
Truth.

Jawbreaker are such an addictive band, I'm rediscovering them just now. Bivouac is my favorite.

their later stuff is awesome.

Doolittle is awesome too, but Surfer Rosa is overrated.
while Doolittle had great melodies, a great varied selection of songs, etc, Surfer Rosa lacked almost all the memorable melodies of Doolittle and was very dry when it came to variation.

but it gains you indie points to like Surfer Rosa better, because the production sucks and the music itself is very dry and lacks the character of all their later albums.

Zappa 06-25-2006 11:52 AM

To say that the production on Surfer Rosa sucks is baffling to me, if you like the flat, colorless sound on Doolittle...

In fact, it's the sound on Doolittle that makes it so inferior in my eyes, not so much the songs. It's either my 3rd or 4th favorite of theirs.

cb240 06-25-2006 12:05 PM

Wow that is a distracting avatar.

Zebra 06-25-2006 12:15 PM

Pavement - Wowee Zowee

This is my favorite Pavement album.

Glitterati 06-25-2006 03:17 PM

Minor Threat - Complete Discography

**** yes. perfect for getting out agression.

Robert Crumb 06-25-2006 03:27 PM

Right now listening to Cansei de Ser Sexy. Band's kinda horrible and not in that good kind of horrible way, but still sort of fun. Brazilian indie dance-pop. I'll probably never listen to this after a week. I'm going to listen to some Pixies now, though.

Zmev 06-25-2006 03:56 PM

The Eels - Blinking Lights

I Was A Kaleidoscope 06-25-2006 04:36 PM

Man Man - The Man In A Blue Turban With A Face

Hmm this is cool

Little Man being Erased 06-25-2006 06:36 PM

All my listening time has been devoted to all these new CD's I got the other day.

AFI - Decemberunderground
David Bowie - Hunky Dory
George Harrison - Brainwashed
The Smiths - Hatful of Hollow
Bruce Springsteen - Devils & Dust
Bruce Springsteen - The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle
Sonic Youth - Goo

Brainwashed is so friggin' good. I love George.

Happymeal 06-25-2006 07:03 PM

Outkast - The Love Below
Coheed and Cambria - The Second Stage Turbine Blade
Third Eye Blind - s/t
Incubus - Make Yourself

Today, I couldn't help but reminisce.
Surfer Rosa lacked almost all the memorable melodies of Doolittle
"River Euphrates" has the best melody of any song, ever.

Kyle 06-26-2006 03:36 AM

Muse - Blackholes and Revelations
Cursive - Happy Hollow

I think these are the two most enjoyable album of the year so far. This Muse album especially, I don't normally like them, but it's really great.

ATM 06-26-2006 07:26 AM

Yea, that Muse album is pretty fun.

Bartender 06-26-2006 08:47 AM

My first listen to Boris - Pink is promising. It plays pretty much like a longer Akuma No Uta, but that's more or less exactly what I was hoping it would be, so tis fine with me.

Kyle 06-26-2006 08:56 AM

^^ That's gonna be next on my wishlist I think.

Zebra 06-26-2006 09:02 AM

Beck - Mellow Gold

It's close between this and Odelay! but I think this is Beck at his best.

asymm 06-26-2006 11:44 AM

Ride - Going Blank Again
It's a very nice album. Similarly elegant as Nowhere.

dei 06-26-2006 01:18 PM

It's been a while since I've put this disc in for a spin.

Beep Beep - Business Casual

italic zero 06-26-2006 01:19 PM

Leonard Cohen, specifically "The Partisan", "Hey, That's No Way to Say Goodbye", "Famous Blue Raincoat", "Chelsea Hotel No. 2", and "Who By Fire".

Jacaranda 06-26-2006 02:24 PM

The new Sonic Youth I'm not sure what I think of it yet. I love the first song on the album though.
The new Sonic Youth I'm not sure what I think of it yet. I love the first song on the album though.
yeah, "Reena", "Incinerate", "Pink Steam", "Rats"(most awesome bassline in an SY song yet), and "The Neutral" are all great IMO.

but unfortunately there are a lot of songs that i skip over a lot. it seems like i'm going between those same 5 songs over and over again and skipping everything else. the other ones aren't bad, i just can't get into them yet. this CD isn't as consistent as "Sonic Nurse" but it's still great.

Bukowski 06-26-2006 03:31 PM

Comets on Fire - Blue Cathedral
Art Bears - The World As It Is Today

Comets on Fire are possibly the coolest band ever. The Art Bears were kinda disappointing though. I'll give it another go, but the singer is irritating.

moosepirate 06-26-2006 03:59 PM
R.E.M. - Fables of the Reconstruction

A lot better than it gets credit for.
Its probably their third or fourth best release. Buck plays some great lines; the writing is so wonderfully dark.

Little Man being Erased 06-26-2006 04:08 PM

Johnny Cash - At Folsom Prison

I agree.

Do you like Lush?

ATM 06-26-2006 07:31 PM

Elbow - Leaders Of the Free World

I had forgotten how much I love this album.

Robert Crumb 06-26-2006 07:44 PM

Jorge Ben - Africa Brasil
The Congos - Heart of the Congos
Nomeansno - Wrong

In that order, the day's diggage so far. Played "Tired of Waiting" on my radio show this afternoon, followed by Mission of Burma. So \m/, which is kinda of uncharacteristic of me. But awesome music. Heart of the Congos I haven't really been able to get into since I bought it, but I was kinda feeling it later in the afternoon, driving around in the heat. And Africa Brasil is just many kinds of awesome. Woowoo.

ATM 06-26-2006 07:45 PM

Heart Of the Congos is an absolute classic.

Robert Crumb 06-26-2006 07:52 PM

Always wanted to check it out, but it always seemed hella expensive for an album I didn't know much about. Finally found it used for $10.
