Badmoon can ya name about 7 labums I should get for my birthday.

Creedence Clearwater 12-14-2004 09:25 PM

Due to the link to classic rock, maybe its relevant to ask if anyone listens to the wallflowers?

Well, to get anything from '75 on, you'll need to get the new box set. But otherwise (Guessing you do not have any)

American Beauty
Workingman's Dead
Aoxomoxoa
Europe '72
S/t (Skull & Roses)
S/t
Anthem of The Sun

That would probably be "one headlight" from the album bringing down the horse, that whole album is good though.

Creedence Clearwater 12-14-2004 09:45 PM

I think I saw a newish album, but bringing down the horse is good enough for a few more dcades yet.

Badmoon 12-14-2004 09:55 PM

Those are the beginning albums. They are the most popular. You'd be best off getting those.

magicbus 12-14-2004 09:55 PM

Robbie Robertson is one of the coolest cats around.

I'd recommend The Doors movie.

I have that one Wallflowers cd with the hit song on it. Back then I didn't know who Bob Dylan was, I just knew the singer was his son :upset:

Creedence Clearwater 12-14-2004 09:56 PM

dcades is my word for decades by the way.

k please tell me you guys have heard of Traffic...

someone in the "U2 getting inducted" thread just mentioned Traffic getting inducted and said it was a load of crap because they are an unknown and un-influencial band.

i kinda flipped out on him, and i just wanna make sure my getting angry was relatively justified.

BludgeonySteve 12-14-2004 11:22 PM

Just got the Live Aid DVD :D

Too bad hanuukah's over now. The giving is over :(

But the DVDs/cds and junk will never go away :thumb:

Against Miik! 12-14-2004 11:32 PM

What kinda bands do you think will get into the Rock Hall when this is considered the classic rock era?

edit: Crap, not CR related, forget it

Thats when todays classic rock will become the futures version of 20s and 30s blues.

thickasabrick 12-15-2004 10:01 AM

anyone see Oceans 12 where everyone is talking in code, and the Matt Damon character doesn't know how, so he quotes Kashmir (oh let the sun beat down upon my face...) and then everyone is stunned.. and it turns out he called some guys daugher a whore or something?

only me and one other guy in the theatre laughed at that, no one else knew what he was quoting but it was hilarious.

anyone else see that?

edit- guitrguy, lets step inside the community thread as not too spam this thread too much.

gmoneyguy 12-15-2004 10:05 AM

I haven't seen oceans 12. Is it any good?

thickasabrick 12-15-2004 10:33 AM

i'm just wondering...When did the Guess Who begin their career, and end it? and When did BTO begin? I just wanna know whether they ran concurrently at any point of time, or whether BTO came a lot later.

I've heard of Traffic. In fact, I have Traffic's Best of album. They're a cool band. Dear Mr. Fantasy totally kicks arse. Plus, its Steve Winwood singing, man.

I've heard that Page considered him to be the lead singer of the band that would have become Led Zeppelin. And yes, Zeppelin was called at first the New Yardbirds since Page put the band together to finish some tour dates that the Yardbirds didn't do.

Mainly Roots Rock but they have many different styles.

They played as Bob Dylans back up band.

I have a bootleg of-Neil Young, The Band and Bob Dylan:eek:

They play Helpless and Knockn' on Heavens Door.

Woodstock 12-15-2004 03:20 PM

I saw Dweezil Zappa on VH1 a few days ago. I've never seen his face before, now for Moonunit.

I saw them both on this show about this 'Daughters of Rockstars' special.

cant_stand_me_now 12-15-2004 03:33 PM

anyone seen the footage from when Dylan played with The Hawks (later The Band) in Manchester in 1964 when Dylan first went electric? Its pretty famous so you probably have but for the lesser knowing ones, some guy shouts "Traitor!" at Dylan. Dylan turns round and says quietly into the mic "I dont believe you, you're a liar." Then RObbie Robertson shouts "You're a ****ing liar!" and they go into a really sneery version of Like A Rolling Stone. :-0

Keep in mind that they quickly moved to the US. And it's stupid to like band more so because they from your country, opposed to not being, IMO.

This is old, but I had to reply about Traffic. Unfortunately they are somewhat unknown, but they are certainly not un-influencial. Steve Winwood is an amazing musician. At one point in his career with Traffic he played guitar, bass, keyboards, and sang for a studio album.

I'm listening to Mr. Fantasy(the album) right now.

I haven't seen it :(

Do you know where I can find it?

clown_phobia 12-15-2004 04:52 PM

I've been into Jimi Hendrix for a while now (about 4 months) and he is still the greatest musician I have ever heard.

His songs simply take me away to another place. His solos are just breath taking. His lyrics are thought provoking and inspiring. I love his on-stage antics.
