I like what I've heard by them but, the production killed it for me, and normally I don't mind bad production.
Paysage's production is really lo-fi but it fits the music, if it were crystal clear it wouldn't work for the music. |
I know, it wouldn't hurt to make it a little clearer not much just a tad. I love the music though, very cool.
Paysage D'Hiver are essential if you have not heard them, also try out Lunar Aurora, not nearly as lo-fi in the production area though.
I like both already : D ! |
try Lustmord. not bm but still.
Also Xasthur? |
Thanks, now i am going to have nightmares.
tbh I thought it was pretty awesome  |
dont suggest xasthur for anything
|
Haha yeah seriously.
Lustmord is good dark ambient/drone music that does convey space feelings. As for more black metal like that, well I guess you could try some Vinterriket, not amazing music but it's solid. Blut Aus Nord's first album might be something you'd like as well. |
dont suggest xasthur for anything
can i suggest xasthur for bad US "suicidal" BM? |
all suicidal black metal sucks.
|
what about Velvet Cacoon? Or does that even count?
|
i dont think they count, but they suck too.
|
The Xasthur from Singapore is elite.
|
try Lustmord. not bm but still.
Death metal evolved out of thrash, early death metal was very thrashy.
No they wouldn't because the way they write songs is much different than a band like Porcupine Tree. From a pure musical standpoint they don't sound much alike, and Porcupine Tree is one of the heavier prog rock bands. Opeth doesn't sound ANYTHING like Spock's Beard.
Opeth and Porcupine have similarities, I wouldn't say they sound very similar but I wouldn't say they sound nothing alike. You're right about early death metal, thats where I form some of my argument, because early death metal seems like thrash metal with a harsher vocal approach. Basically what I was saying is that death metal is a broad genre. If you take Opeth, Origin, and Death and show them to someone and say, "this is death" metal", most people would get the impression that the genre is diverse. That being said, there are some bands that teeter on the edge of the death metal genre and other genre. That being said, vocals can be a variable in determining where some bands fall into certain genres, mostly bands that borrow influences from multiple genres. |
shut up ffs

Shut up retard, no ****, if some retarded kiddie runs around showing people **** like Opeth and Origin along with Death they'll think Death Metal is a broad genre because you're showing them **** that isn't ****ing Death Metal. How the **** are you so firm in your idiocy?

I didn't. I said Opeth and Spock's Beard don't sound anything alike. Porcupine Tree is heavier than a lot of prog rock.
You're right about early death metal, thats where I form some of my argument, because early death metal seems like thrash metal with a harsher vocal approach.
The riffs are much different as well. That is what makes it death metal rather than thrash. For example, Skeletonwitch are thrash but have death/black vocals.
Basically what I was saying is that death metal is a broad genre. But the vocals do not decide the genre in the end. |
