FunkMetalBass 06-21-2012 09:14 AM

I think she had a thing for Michael Cera or some sheisse. I think its his cousin Maeby.

fatbandit 06-22-2012 05:26 PM

One day last week I was delivering mail and there was a magazine for like 25% of the houses that had MEW's face massive on the front of it. It was a pretty good day.

On a related note, I really enjoyed Abraham Lincoln vampire hunter today :)

FunkMetalBass 06-25-2012 10:57 AM

I heard it was good. I'll have to check the movie out.

FunkMetalBass 06-25-2012 11:52 AM

What do you all think of my singlecut design?

Stapler 06-25-2012 01:03 PM

But how does it taste?

not too bad really...

BenJammin 06-25-2012 04:03 PM

That's pretty nice, Joe. I don't *love* the headstock, but I don't despise it either.

FunkMetalBass 06-25-2012 04:15 PM

I made it like that to reduce stress on the nut by having the strings pass straight over it. What about it don't you like? Does it feel too small and wide?

Also, it should taste like Walnut (probably darker than shown) and flame maple (I could only find a good burl sample for mocking up, though).

I'm glad it meets body-shape approval, though. It's hard to find a tasteful singlecut, IMO.

BenJammin 06-26-2012 11:25 AM

Yeah, too small and wide is basicially it.

FunkMetalBass 06-26-2012 02:15 PM

I worked with the headstock a bit more and I feel like this new shape suits it much better.

The rasta colors are just me tinkering around, although this is similar to how I would build it if I decide to do it because I would build it out of a bunch of dyed fence pickets.

gaslight 06-27-2012 07:48 AM

Yeah I instantly much prefer that headstock, the way the curve echoes the lower horn is really pleasing.

Single cut basses look strange to me but that's not anything to be bothered about.

FunkMetalBass 06-28-2012 04:12 PM

Hey Chris, check it out. You and your dream girl apparently have the same affinity for mailboxes:

gaslight 06-29-2012 01:16 PM

Are you um, ahh. Memory issues.

Quatre?

karmapavementplan 06-29-2012 03:59 PM

Well that was odd... was watching the new alan partridge series and there was an odd segment where Alan went to the hospital I work in, drove around the roundabout several times and then ran into the reception and then emerged with a handful of choc-ices.

FunkMetalBass 07-06-2012 11:18 AM

Turns out I was a bit sloppy with that bass I mocked up. The bridge string spacing was supposed to be somewhere around 16.5/17mm, but instead ended up just shy of 20mm. I now have to decide whether to leave it as is and try to correct the mistake on my trace before I fully cut the neck, or if I should painstakingly make all of the autocad adjustments.

What do you guys think?

In playing around with AutoCad, I don't think it's going to make a difference. Spread over the neck, it's mere millimeters, so I'm just going to ignore it and shape it exactly as I already have it.

FunkMetalBass 07-10-2012 08:58 AM

Guys, what beer should I brew next? I need to order ingredients asap.

FunkMetalBass 07-10-2012 09:17 AM

I know I didn't give you guys too much time to respond, but I think I found the beer (kit) I want to brew

AHS Aramis Saison:

A beer truly brewed out of necessity, the saison (French for season) was originally created as a refreshing beverage for farm workers. Saisons would keep the farmers refreshed and hydrated when potable water was scarce. Aramis hops give this saison a well rounded hop character with aromatic notes of citrus, herb, and fruit. Aramis Saison is the perfect companion beer for a day of yard work or gardening.

It sounds delicious and like a perfect brew for August end-of-summer drinking.

Az_Holl 07-15-2012 04:56 AM

ive been drinking cask wine mixed with ginger beer for 6 months so anything would be nice really

beer is nice, make some berr... that was a typo, but it sounds funny so i left it

FunkMetalBass 07-17-2012 12:43 PM

Ok, I promise, this is the last MEW picture (since you guys are probably getting tired of her and she's really not my favorite).

BenJammin 07-17-2012 02:56 PM

So I finally got my Circle K strings after a shipping mix up and all sorts of delays and promptly broke my .015 while tuning. Fml.

Pastorius 07-17-2012 04:05 PM

who could tire of her?

she's a stone cold babe

FunkMetalBass 07-18-2012 08:17 AM
So I finally got my Circle K strings after a shipping mix up and all sorts of delays and promptly broke my .015 while tuning. Fml.
Ouch. How did that happen and where did the string break? You should email Skip. He might be able to send you a replacement free of charge.

In the interim, D'Addario makes a string in that gauge and you can probably buy a single string from any music shop.

Other than the breakage (first I've heard of one breaking, TBH), how do you like the tone and feel of the other 5 strings?

BenJammin 07-18-2012 11:05 AM

I think that I should have taken a lighter gauge. It wasn't going to make it all the way to G#. Otherwise, quite happy with the other 5 strings. The .158 low A is thunderous an crystal clear.

gaslight 07-18-2012 12:48 PM

Funny you should say that, just the other week my bookmark for MX stopped working because it was still going through musicians forums or something and it just expired.

So i had to change my bookmark like a sucker.

Its pretty sad really, ive got some fun memories from this place. Really stupid memories, but really fun
