You get an office?
Yessir. With a big desk, a bookshelf, and my own phone line too. |
Pretty sweet dude.
What's your job anyway? I don't remember that we've talked of it before. |
Americans in America?
Wtf is this world coming to?! I had to take down my Salvador Dali prints that were hanging in my office because they were too unprofessional. :upset:
Seriously? That's really lame. Find anyone else that has any art hanging in their office and complain about it. |
Pretty sweet dude.
What's your job anyway? I don't remember that we've talked of it before.
I run customer service for a custom print & mail company. We specialize in printing and mailing disgustingly large amounts of bills (I think we mailed somewhere around 3 million bills last month).
Seriously? That's really lame. Find anyone else that has any art hanging in their office and complain about it.
I would, but all I find are those vomit-inducing Motivational posters. What's worse, all of my Dali prints were on the only wall you couldn't see unless you were physically inside my office. |
Get some motivational posters and alter them how you will to make them... less motivational.

Btw, if anyone is interested in learning about quarks, I made a powerpoint for class:
http://docs.google.com/present/edit?id=0ARpZ3iqC02UdZGN3bWNnNDRfMGhrenF3emN2&hl=en I realize some of it is a bit wordy, but she re-uses good powerpoint presentations for future class teachings, so some parts require a bit more embedded knowledge that can't rely on my presenting skillz alone. |
See, it's things like reading about your Dali prints that do make me somewhat happy about my office and my boss - I have to have one of the most unprofessional offices in the world. I don't know, maybe we're just more chill in Canada, or my office is just way too lenient. either way, here's a bit of a tour...
My door 'sign' or whatever (we don't really have nameplates or anything) is the Biting Pear of Salamanca with a speech bubble overtop of it saying "I may bite, but Matt doesn't... usually." and I have all kinds of crazy shit in here - stickers all over my stamps, company computer and phone, a constant flow of empty cans and bottles (recycling = COIN$) including a huge bag of beer cans right behind me, a huge knife that sits in one of the bins, a bunch of soup cans I keep change in, paperwork strewn fucking EVERYWHERE, a framed WATCHMEN poster, my Bachman Cummings tour show poster/sign/whatever, a bow tie one of the mechanics made me out of a sandwich bag, taped to the wall, framed Kids in the Hall pictures (press picture and the original autographed one) and all sorts of work info written hastily on sheets with stupid pictures drawn or pasted on, bags of carrots and celery on the one mostly unused of my two desks, an Iron Man action figure (watching my back and guarding the place, you know. so people don't fuck up my shit or something) and a couple Todd MacFarlane NHL series figurines, hats, all sorts of random crap... not to mention that I always wear my headphones in here too and I've been known to spend the day shirtless if it's too hot upstairs. yeah, I guess there are things I love about this place. I'll take pictures of the office and get one of my friends to host them or something so you can see just how silly it is. ..... in other news, my project Jazz Bass has been sitting in customs since July 4th. Anybody things from overseas and know how long it takes? I'm guessing in about a billion years I should get it. |
Oh sorry, I meant to write "turn a blind eye to your habits".
I don't know what you're talking about with some of this anti-Australian stuff sometimes, there is a huge amount of condoning drug use going on in Australia, we have legal injecting rooms in some cities and a whole town on the coast of NSW called Nimbin that basically exists for people to smoke pot in. I don't know why anyone would choose to live in America over Australia, there are at least 10 countries I'd rather live in than Australia before America would come up. Nothing against the country itself geographically it's just there are way too many Americans there.
only point to this dumb post: you wont say it |

When my last frame comes in, I'll put my Dali stuff back up and take a picture of my office. |
only point to this dumb post:
you wont say it
My posts are nowhere near as dumb as yours. But if it'll amuse you, Liam I fully condone your drug use. I don't know what your source of information is regarding things in Australia but, you're just as wrong as you usually are about everything. Haha, I kid, but really, you're pretty off target. |
FOR THE RECORD
i fully back the use of mind altering substances. |
I have no objection to Raayl being medicated in some way whether legal or not.
|
BTW, these Circle K Strings are amazing. I was hesitant about the 0.200 F# string at first, but it has so much clarity and perfect tension. The plain .021 high F sounds great too. The sonic differences in the plain vs. the wound strings is moot, unlike the old Conklins I used to have.
I may have to quit ordering my beloved Fodera Heavies and move over to these. |
I'm glad I only need to spend about $6 to get new guitar strings. Buying new bass strings sucks for the wallet.
|
It sure does.
Last bass strings I bought were like $100+ for a four string set. I only change strings like, not even once a year though. |
I change my guitar strings as often as I change my bass strings, and that's when they break.
|
I do have to admit that the last time I changed strings on my SR500 was because I wanted to :upset:. The shame. For my SRX500 I changed them just before an album recording because I was trying to find the "right" sound for it.
I haven't broken a string in quite a while which is weird now that I think of it. |

I'm not sweating you man, I just don't know how to play the game with you without sounding like I hate you .

You can stuff your sillies in a sack mister.
It sure does.

That's standard pricing around here for the expensive-ish bass strings.
A four string set of Elixirs used to run me about $60-$100, I forget really. The specific set I got that time was a four string set of flatwound Kerly Music ones. PS - if I can get in touch with the guitarist tomorrow and he's okay with it, I'll be uploading my old band's self titled EP we recorded a few years back. I'll link youse up of course. |
Swizzle. I was just thinking about that the other day. I remember being in Linear Algebra on my netbook reading about the EP. I'm interested to hear it.
|
I'm hoping it sounds okay to fresh ears. I've probably heard it more than anyone else over the years, the being remastered really helped it. It was a pretty budget effort (total of $0 for recording) and I only got to be DI'd to the desk but it's a pretty nice snapshot of what we had going.
|
Most of the subtleties of bass tones seem to be lost anyway, so it's almost just easier to DI it and expect to be inaudible at the time of remaster. I usually prefer to DI, but that's also because I don't like lugging my stack with me. We shall see what happens when I get that 2x12, though.
|
For something we got for free I won't complain about much.
Can't seem to get in touch with the guitarist by phone :(. Haven't really seen much of the guys in years though so I dunno, I might just go ahead and do it. Did a gig tonight and was home by 11, quite evening for sure. |

You need to re-evaluate your priorities and try to become a real rock star. |
I'm thinking of hosting each song as a file on box.net and then I get download counters and stuff but soundcloud might be a fun idea too.
Yeah, we were on at 8 and everyone else went home so I decided to leave as well. |
so i just recorded a new song with slap bass and drums kinda like a primus song
cuz the next starsmog song is gonna be like that so i started it for jordan but right now it sounds like a solo bass song like marcus miller or some **** lol |
